Came here on late Saturday afternoon and was seated quickly. It wasn't busy and it had a nice, dark ambiance with no blasting music - perfect for girl's night therapy talks and probably good for dates. We had the crab roe soup dumplings, duck fried rice, dry pot cauliflower, and scallion pancakes. The crab roe soup dumplings were savory and warm - perfect for colder weather. The duck fried rice was a bit bland but was saved by the soy sauce from the other dishes. The dry pot cauliflower was highly complimented by my friend - it was really tasty but also had a spicy kick. The scallion pancakes were thin, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, oily but meshed well with sweet soy sauce. They had a great drink selection too. We opted for the coffee milk tea and the jasmine lychee. Both were sweet but not too sweet. Overall, we had a good time here. Would come back for their crab roe soup dumplings.

We came here for dinner during the winter restaurant week which is a steal for 5 courses and 2 drinks for $60. My friend and I ordered the following:-Beef with grilled pepper cold jelly - really good and flavored well. -fresh squid with garlic and chili oil - really good and flavored well. -black truffle dumplings x2 (came with 2 per order) - tasty but I've had better. -crispy prawns with garlic sauce with side of rice - this was a let down. It was cooked great but a little bland. It definitely needed more sauce. -roasted duck with sturgeon caviar with side of rice - really good duck with caviar and portion was good! I wish there was two buns though since my friend and I shared all the dishes. The one bun is definitely not enough to eat with all the duck. -tofu with garlic sauce - this was delicious and sauced and flavored well-snow pea shoots with garlic - typical fare but was too salty. -yuzu coconut cotta - this was my favorite dessert! The yuzu definitely comes out. -Osmanthus ice jelly - not bad, but the Osmanthus is too mild-Orange wine - not my favorite as it was too sharp-cocktail with vodka and tea - tasty! I really enjoyed the strong tea flavor but a little too sweet. The appetizers were the star of the show. Everything was cooked well, there just needs to be some adjustments to seasonings and the amount of sauce for some dishes. The service was quick and easy. Since the tables were small, the waiters were good at removing empty dishes as we finished so we had a little more space to work with. The dishes came out continuously and timely and we didn't have to wait long for the next course. Overall, would highly recommend the restaurant week menu and I would come back to try their regular menu next time. I really want to try more of their drinks because they look good.

Tl;:dr: the winter melon milk tea here was really good! We ordered it to go bcuz we choose beers with our meals instead and it was the perfect drink to cool down from the spice. Highly recommend!Ordered the spicy beef bowl, okra, and some other appetizers. The spicy beef bowl had Szechuan spice which gave a numbing sensation, and the okra was more milder in flavor but super crunchy.

This restaurant is amazing for both food and service! We were able to easily make a reservation for 8 online & were seated at one of their large tables in the back. The waitress was friendly & attentive, constantly refilling our water jug. The food came out pretty fast and everything was flavorful & unique. There's plenty of pescatarian and vegetarian options, as well as some not-too-spicy things. My favorites were the lobster dish & veggie fried rice. They also have a creative cocktail menu. At the end they sang happy birthday to my partner & brought out a candle in green tea ice cream. This place is a real gem!

Went to celebrate lunar new year and opted for the restaurant week menu for dinner. For $60, it's an amazing deal. So much food which also comes with two alcohol beverages. I ordered an extra cocktail, nutty fashioned, which was delicious. Everything we ordered was tasty. This restaurant was really busy and totally understand that there were times where dishes were missing or came out really late, esp given it was lunar new year. The server was the friendliest person and was so positive the entire night. It was a long dinner that lasted close to 3 hours but was so worth it. Definitely recommend their Szechuan dishes and soup dumplings!

In a neighborhood where Chinese options are largely limited to fast casual and ancient takeout spots, this solidly classy sit-down Szechuan space has been a welcome addition for the past few years. The food is mostly of excellent quality, and the service is better than the Chinatown spots of my youth would have me expect. This is not the place for General Tso's chicken. They specialize in proper Szechuan cuisine. Accordingly, the mapo tofu is the real deal, spicy and excellent. I'm always happy to get it, and my shirt never is. The Chungking Chicken is a winner, and I'm always happy to eat the dan dan noodles. I have yet to try the Kung Pao, but I've heard good things. The starters are also of good quality. Scallion pancakes are awesome, soup dumplings, although Shanghaiese, are still quite good (although better ones can be had for cheaper a few blocks north at Nan Xiang), and the wontons in chili oil are great. Speaking of which, ask for some chili oil and use it liberally to punch anything up, especially the Stewed Fish with Vegetables, which is an excellent choice if your mom also can't handle the heat. I like how the lunch specials come with some pickled veggies. I like pickled things. There's a full bar, and even a negroni on the happy hour menu that I haven't been brave enough to try it yet. However, the wine and sake are both quite affordable if you come in early.Give it a go.

I ordered takeout from here. It's solid place, though a bit pricy for the portion size. Overall, the flavors lack the numbing spice that I was expecting. Chongqing chicken ($24) - there's not much actual chicken in this dish, and of the chicken, most of it is the fried batter part. Didn't come that crispy either, but that could also be to blame of ordering delivery. Flavor is ok, a little spicy but not numbing. I do like how you can specify less salt. Spicy cumin lamb ($26) - also small portion size, and not much actual lamb as opposed to veggies. The lamb is quite chewy too. Mung bean noodles ($10) - they do it like the blocks here instead of the actual noodle texture. I found the sauce pretty unflavored but the actual jelly is good. Black sesame ball ($6) - comes with 4 balls, tastes as expected.

Shan was a very cute and quaint restaurant. The moment we walked into the restaurant, we were greeted with a mouthwatering fragrance of Chinese food. The staff were very nice and welcoming! The level of service here was top-notch, we didn't even have to ask the staff to refill our water - the moment our water was running low, the staff came and replaced the water jug!The soup dumplings were soo good! The dumpling wrappers were handmade and thin, showcasing the expertise of their chefs in the back. The soup and the filling were so flavorful that I did not need much vinegar at all! The spicy cumin lamb was quite spicy - a little too spicy for my tastebuds, but it smelled incredible! If you have a low spice tolerance, I would avoid this dish or ask for less spice. The stringbeans were so delicious! We demolished the plate of stringbeans. It was so flavorful and full of umami! The taste was so addicting and we couldn't help ourselves from eating more and more! The beef noodle soup was really tender and warms you right up, with just the right amount of spice. The desserts were so delicious as well! I personally loved the ice lychee jelly! It was not too sweet and the foam on top reminded me of a very light icecream! The rice cakes were yummy as well - but they tend to stick to your teeth, so just a word of caution there! Overall, the experience here was great! It would be a cute spot to bring someone on a date!

I had gone there for early dinners (the Dan Dan noodles are out of this world) until recently, when I realized they do takeout! I do not usually do Chinese takeout as there aren't any good options around me and I am weary of things arriving cold/ overcooked etc. I figured I would try them once. OMG the fish fillets in chili hot sauce was beyond delicious and the fish was NOT overcooked. Also had the fresh pea shoots; likewise perfectly cooked. 6 stars for a takeout option.
