I ate dinner at this fabulous restaurant last night! The sushi was so fresh and delicious, they were playing old school hip hop which I love and chef Gede was so friendly and sweet! It's a small hidden gem that everyone should try! You won't be disappointed!

The door to the restaurant can be tricky to find. It's next to the pizza shop on 6th Ave even though Google maps make it look like it's on 31st. The entrance goes up a flight of stairs into an intimate and cozy bar seating. The wait can be very long here because they only have 12 seats, so my suggestion is to come 20 minutes before opening. We arrived at 4:45pm on a Friday and barely made the cut for the first seating. They offer three tiers of omakase and we opted for Hokkaido Set ($48), which includes 10 nigiri, 2 handrolls, and a small kaisendon. The type of fish offered at the different tiers will vary, so they do highly recommend the Hokkaido set that includes fatty tuna, sweet shrimp, etc. The nigiris came out in pairs, which made the experience quicker but also great when I'm hungry. It's all placed on a banana leaf too, which was a vibe. All the fish was fresh and perfectly flavored; they didn't even offer additional soy sauce or wasabi for you, but you don't even need it.Sendo is a great spot when you want an affordable and delicious omakase. Make sure you come early to avoid that wait though. Hopefully they can get a reservation system in place, but I'd imagine it'd be hard to grab.

I had the displeasure of talking to the owner of this restaurant this evening who called me twice to discuss why my experience was not up to par. I agreed to it as my reviews are quite genuine and I love helping businesses. The owner immediately started getting defensive and started ranting as to why I would leave a 3 star review. He called me mentally ill for even making my experience public on a platform that is made to share my opinion. He started yelling at me, and did not hear me out. He was very unprofessional and it seems like he does this with every review he does not agree with. This is the worst experience I could have ever had. He kept questioning my credibility. He said this would ruin his business all due to my very real experience. He did not want to hear any criticism and was absolutely an awful experience. MENTALLY ILL?! I am offended. I WILL NEVER RECOMMEND A PLACE LIKE THIS.

I think this is a yummy experience to try once! While it was enjoyable, not a place I'm dying to come back to if that makes. The space is so tiny, so they can only seat like 12 people at a time. The restaurant is very nondescript from the outside, so you'd only know to come by looking on the map. They open at 5 and we arrived at like 4:45 and still did not make the cutoff for the first round of people, so we had to wait 50 minutes for the first round to finish up. We got the Hokkaido which is the 10 piece nigiri, 2 handrolls, and the mini Kaisendon. I liked the salmon, ocean trout, and toro pieces the best. I thought each piece tasted fresh and yummy! However, nothing here really wowed me as something I hadn't had before. Some omakase places experiment with searing fish, using different sauces, or using different toppings; at Sendo it is just the piece of fish with some wasabi and a brushing of soy sauce. Since each piece came pre-sauced, they just provide you with ginger on the side. Service was quick, which I imagine is to keep the turnover of seats high since they only seat a few people at a time. We were in and out in about 45-50 minutes. Would probably be a nice and intimate spot for a date since the space is very small.

I ordered during lunch and it was ready in about 30 minutes. I'm glad other reviewers posted instructions on how to find the restaurant as the entrance is quite discreet. When I walked in, it was dimly lit but there was a relaxing vibe. I was surprised there were still seats available (arrived at 12:45pm Friday) so I could have ate in instead of ordering take out. I got the nagoya set and requested the ikura be substituted with something else. I'm so appreciative that they were able to accommodate my request as I really do not enjoy fish eggs. The scallop and toro belly was sooo good. Highly recommend checking this place out.

Got there around 630pm. Very difficult to find as there is no signage. You go in a door and up a flight of stairs and about half way up there is a door on the right, also with no signage. In here you'll find a quaint little place with room for about 12 people to sit around a bar and have sushi made for you on the fly. You eat as they make the sets. We were told the wait was 45 to 75 minutes. We got our name on the list and went shopping for a while. About 2hr later we got the call.So we get seated around 8:50, and since they close at 10pm, we are the last group, which is awesome because the chef was able to talk to us and not push us through under an hour. He had lived in Spain for 11 years, and his Spanish was actually better than his English, which was fun because we could converse en Español.We all got the Hokkaido set. Tried a few Sakes that were recommended as well. Its hand downone of the best food experiences we have ever had in New York.My wife is Celiac and she had no issues. They use Gluten Free soy and make their own wasabi each day in house. She had the rice beer which was gluten free.Get there the earliest you can and be prepared to wait a while. On weekends you may noteven get in as they said the wait can be 3+ hour.We spent about $100 per person, which was absolutely worth it, and we will be revisiting.

I wanted to try this place because I knew few chefs who worked here.First warning; no reservations, walk ins only. It's located on the second floor, due to very tiny space, virtually no space for waiting. Chef told me that wait could get as worse as two hours. So if you're really hungry, I would not recommend this place.Luckily, we did not have to wait (beat another couple by a min), after looking at the menu we decided to get most expensive Hokkaido set which includes 2 hand rolls, 10 nigiri and a kaisendon for $47. What a great price for this many pieces! We ended up adding on a piece of eel and Uni tastings (3pc).But I did not like the fact that first piece was a hand roll. I'm originally from Japan and it should be served after nigiri course. I guess you get what you pay for; fast service (a bit rushed) but it's great quick fix for your sushi desire!

Amazing sushi spot if you don't mind waiting! You should also ask about the difference between the different set menus - we were recommended the Hokkaido (also the most nigiri with 10 pieces, also the most expensive) and we are glad we got it. I think it has otoro (fatty tuna) and a few other more premium fish compared to the other two sets.Service is what is expected from an omakase - fast, and efficient. Overall a fantastic omakase / set menu, especially for the current price of $49

Literal hole-in-the-wall omakase spot, tucked on the second floor of a packed Midtown building. There are about 10 seats total, all bar seating, so the atmosphere is a bit rushed since they're trying to flip seats quickly. Walk-ins only- we waited about an hour to be seated on a Friday night. Servers are attentive, sushi chefs are knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend the Hokkaido omakase set, which is the only option that comes with fatty tuna. There is also an a la carte option to add on any of your favorites at the end.Our favorite pieces were the Fatty Tuna with Pickled Radish handroll, the Sea Bream nigiri, and the Unagi nigiri, which the chef torched for extra smoky flavor.
