Georgian wine is elite. We ordered 3 wines . All superb. White - rkatsiteliAmber - kisiRed - saperavi. Georgina wine red dry, amber, and white. I'd order each every time again. Honestly top tier . Paired great with all the meals. Especially, the Cheese curd bread. The Khachopuri had a beautiful flavor in the bread. We ordered the gigantic dumplings. The spinach and cheese was excellent and what a cheese pull that had. The beef were juicy and yummy. We ordered the Tabaka, chicken and walnuts. The chicken tasted pan fried abd the sauce epic. Great for dipping the bread in. The Napolean dessert is not to be missed. The burst of orange was amazing. It was definitely one of the best Ive ever had.

We stopped upon Saperavi by accident while looking for something else, and what a hidden gem it turned out to be! With an impressive 4.9 rating, we decided to call and check for availability. The host, Gio, went above and beyond and despite the restaurant being fully booked, he told us that if we could arrive within 15 minutes, he would find a way to accommodate us. That level of hospitality is rare, and it immediately set the tone for a fantastic experience. We sat at the bar with a perfect view of the open kitchen, where we could watch the chefs at work. We started with a bottle of red wine and a selection of appetizers, all of which were outstanding. The hand-cut fries took me straight back to my village. Simple, authentic, and absolutely delicious. Cut by hand and not by the machine. For the main course, we both went with the lamb chops and potato purée. Wow, they were spot on!The service was just as impeccable as the food. Our server was attentive, and the entire atmosphere, from the warm hospitality to the lively open kitchen, made our experience even better.Saperavi is a true gem, and we will definitely be coming back. Great job to the whole tea. You deserve all the success!

Came here to celebrate my friend's birthday, and it was her first time trying Georgian food, but probably my third time trying Georgian food. Both of us had a great time and left feeling super full. I had made a reservation in advance for a Tuesday night, but I don't think I really needed one because when I arrived there were a handful of tables available. Some of the tables are close to each other so it was a little annoying at times to have people bump into my bag that was hanging on my chair. There is a bar that's available so it's nice that they have that option because I saw a couple people come in to eat dinner by themselves. The menu is a good size, and for the two of us, we ordered four dishes to share and one dessert. It was definitely too much food, but I'm glad that we got to try so many Georgian specialties. We ordered:1. Elarji balls (5/5)2. Adjaruli Khachapuri (5/5)3. Beef Khinkali (4/5) it was very interesting to eat this, because it was like a large soup dumpling. Our server instructed us to flip it over, make a small bite, slurp the soup, and then eat it. Also, the other reviewers were not lying, these were huge!4. Chalapuli (2/5) this dish really was not for me. It was just very overpowering with the lamb flavor, but that's just me. I had one bite and could not have anymore, but my friend enjoyed it.5. Honey cake (3/5) not bad, but it definitely could've used more strawberry to cut the overwhelming savoriness of the cake.

I made a reservation for lunch. The music is a little too loud for my liking but not overbearingly so.2 of us shared the following and we could not finish everything:- Soup Kharcho: a beef version of chicken noodle soup with more flavor. Comforting and would be great if I was sick. Apparently, most versions have cherry puree in it but this did not.- Adjaruli: the star of the dinner. This one had a more sour cheese compared to the other one I had in another Georgian restaurant.- chicken tabaka with bazhe sauce: the chicken was expertly roasted keeping tenderness and juiciness. However, the walnut sauce was savory and I was expecting a sweetness - I think the original sauce would go better with this.- teapot: the Georgian tea can be black or green. We got black and it reminded me of Turkish tea with English breakfast flavors.

Recommended- Kupati/Shkmeruli. Assorted Phkali (for a group.) Order all.I was at this pretty new Georgian restaurant with a group earlier today for dinner. Sorry by the way for knocking off the glass used for the New Year's/Christmas stuff. The staff was friendly and the food overall was excellent with the quality of some dishes in particular surpassing every other Georgian place I've been to. The inside is rather small compared to many of the Georgian spots and the music was light. I didn't have anything to drink but another person had the Georgian pear lemonade which they liked and was a different brand (Zandukeli) than the usual Natakhtari brand you find in spots. I ordered two of most dishes except for one of the special and the ojakhuri and we left stuffed with potential leftovers (though we chose not to) for around $45 a person. Sorry by the way for knocking off the glass used for the New Year's/Christmas stuff. Our first appetizer that arrived was the Assorted Phkali for $24.00 with Georgian vegetable rolls with walnut, Georgian spices, and homemade cornbread. The vegetables included spinach, beetroot, eggplant rolls/Nigvziani badrijani (which can also be separately ordered,) bell pepper, and said cornbread/mchadi. The cornbread was very tasty being less dry than most spots and the other ones were excellent with the eggplant rolls and spinach ones being my favorite as expected. All of them had good amount of spice as well as walnuts and garlic and some pomegranate seeds and it would be a good mix for three to share or four as a stretch or with one other appetizer. The other appetizer was the Potato Mushroom Ojakhuri for $17.00 which had home style fried potatoes, oyster mushrooms, champignons, garlic, and dill and a Georgian plum sauce. I usually see this dish as an entree usually made with pork and it was nice to see a version of this thing as an appetizer though it was less flavorful without the pork of course. The mushrooms were good as well as the thin potatoes and the plum sauce/tkemali had the expected light sourness which helped with the richness and the portion size was nice. Another person gave me one of their Beef Khinkali which are $15 for four very large pieces. If anyone's curious on how to eat them, you're supposed to pick them up and make a slight bite and drink the juice before eating the rest outside of the lumpy top. There was good tender meat inside with a pretty well flavored soup broth. They were solid though I prefer the version slightly at the nearby Cafedelia. The best of the main dishes was between two though I will give a slight edge to the Shkmeruli for $22.00 or chicken in creamy garlic sauce. The chicken or rather Cornish hen as said by them I believe was very tender inside and not overcooked but the star of the show was the sauce which was extremely well flavored with a good hit of garlic but not too much. They give you some little pieces of bread to dip into it though we also used the remains of the khachapuri for the same thing. I have had this dish in many other places but this was the best I've had by a good amount. My other favorite was the Kupati for $25 listed as traditional Georgian sausage made with ground beef, pork, and Georgian spices and served with tashmijabi and house sauce. The kupati had a good snap from the casing and were very well flavored and the tashmijabi/mashed potatoes with cheese were a good accompaniment. The sauce had a light sourness. This was excellent and also the best I've had.We also got the obligatory Adjaruli Khachapuri for $16 or the traditional khachapuri from Adjara region made with homemade dough, Georgian cheese blend, and egg yolk and baked to a golden crisp. They presented it as per most spots with the egg uncooked and the server mixes it into the cheese mix and does a bit of a theatrical show of it. It was salty and cheesy as it always is and the remaining bread as noted was good to dip into the garlic sauce. It is of comparable quality to Cafedelia and better than the one at the popular Chama Mama.We were originally going to get the Chashushuli for $25 or a veal stew with tomatoes, onion, and Georgian spices topped with cilantro and parsley but there was a special that the waiter said which was a bigger version of a similar stew for $31 which was more tomato based which we went with instead. Said tomato stew turned out to be Ostri which is a preference. The latter is more spiced by comparison and I prefer how the meat is cooked. The stew was good and served with mashed potatoes and would be good to add on the menu to potentially replace said dish or just as extra. If the Kupati/Shkmeruli were only of good/decent quality, I would note this already as a better version of Chito Gvrito (for price point) and Chama Mama/Old Tbilisi Garden (quality and comparable price point) but the better versions of those dishes while the rest were still on point puts it a bit over most Georgian spots. Mid 4.

I came here for dinner on a weekend with two friends and enjoyed our experience here.Foods:-Adjaruli Khachapuri: This was my second time having this dish and it did not disappoint. Our server helped us mix the egg yolk with the cheese and the bread was perfectly cooked. It was crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. The cheese and bread were a perfect mix.-Chicken Tabaka: This was my first time having this dish and I enjoyed it. The sauce complimented the chicken well and the chicken was nice and tender. There were also some pomegranate seeds sprinkled in the dish to add a bit of sweetness. Would get this again. -Beef Khinkali: This was also my first time having khinkali. The dumpling is filled with soup inside. They're big dumplings that you can pick up with your hand and the meat was delicious. You can make reservations online which I recommend! We didn't have any trouble making a reservation a few hours before. By the time we arrived for our reservation, all the tables were full except for one which happened to be our table. We were seated immediately. The servers were so helpful. They explained to us how to eat each dish and were excited to give us recommendations since we weren't too familiar with the menu items. Service was quick too! They have indoor and outdoor dining. When we came in the winter, we were seated outdoors but it was heated and had no problem.

This place is so yummy with friendly and fun service to boot! The amber wine I had was delicious, and the khachapuris are a must-have. We also had a really nice eggplant dish which was perfectly savory. There's an inside space as well as a covered outside patio (with heaters!). It was freezing out and we were on the outside patio, was wearing a t-shirt and felt OK thanks to the heating and covered setup.I would come back here for sure, vibes are great / service is good / food is fast and it seems like a great place for a get-together.

Honest review of Saperavi: I had the opportunity to visit Saperavi located at 245 East 14th street NYC. This was my first time trying Georgian food! We started with traditional khachapuri from adjara region, made with homemade dough, georgian cheese blend, and egg yolk. Baked to a golden crisp. This dish was by far my favorite of the night! The freshly baked bread with the cheesy blend of happiness filled me up to a point where I almost didn't want to finish my main meal which was Chakapuli a lamb stew made with white wine, tarragon, scallion, fresh herbs, and cherry plum. The flavor profile was very complex, earthy and the great flavor of lamb. My date had Chashushuli a traditional veal stew with tomatoes, onion, and georgianspices. topped with cilantro and parsley. I tried a bite and it was semi sweet with a savory flavor on the tail end. All and all it was such a delight to eat here I went back for lunch and had the Shkmeruli,Roasted Chicken in Creamy Garlic Sauce which was tender and very flavorful. The space inside space is small with 28 seats and the outside space has an additional 10 seats. I recommend making reservations and enjoy a great experience with attentive staff and great food!

This restaurant used to be called Mealz, but decided to change their name to Saperavi. Either way, it's still the same Georgian restaurant. This was my first time trying Georgian cuisine and I was very intrigued by their dishes, although I was a bit hesitant being that they're very heavy on the cheese. Going to need to work out a lot afterwards.Adjaruli Khachapuri ($17) is a traditional Georgian cheese bread from Ajara region made with baked dough, melty cheese blend and egg yolk. This was too much cheese for my liking, but it's part of the experience. Gonna need to work on unclogging the arteries I probably just clogged.Khinkali ($14 for 4 pcs) is their Georgian dumplings. It comes in either Beef or Spinach & Cheese. I got to try both and I prefer the beef.Shkmeruli ($22) is a roasted chicken dish in creamy garlic sauce. This is decently good and would recommend.

I had a particular predicament on the day I visited (Oct 2024) - I had just wired in a new bracket onto my braces two days prior and could hardly chew. Whereas I would normally have tried the cheesy fondue baked into the dough, I inquired with Serg and took the advice of this very professional and kind gentleman to go with the Penovani instead - the puff pastry-housed cheesiness with a salad on top.It was 100% the right call. The cheesy pastry is a no brainer, but I'm surprised by how much I enjoyed the salad. The cucumber and tomato were both fresh, and the oil-based dressing was unlike any dressing I had ever tasted - in a good way. Great way. Enjoying outside the sunny 70-degree fall weather, delectable new cuisine, and impeccable service for under $20 pretip - perfection.
