Great pick in West Village! The pepe was excellent--definitely a standout dish. The bolognese was okay, but I'd probably try something different next time. I really enjoyed the winter caprese; the fresh cheese made it AMAZING. The open seating added to the relaxed atmosphere, making it a comfortable spot to dine. Ended the meal with tea and a pastry, which was a perfect touch.Service was fast and everyone was super friendly. Plus they had coat check which is always a great plus.

Everyone here is so lovely and welcoming! What a great spot for brunch with the parents. I came in on a cold day, and it was the perfect warm vibe. Pro tip! Split a French toast for dessert! Super light, airy, and full of flavor!

Came here for my sister's 30th birthday and had a lovely evening. Came in for an 8 o'clock reservation for three. When we gave our name the host said, two right? We corrected her and said three and she hesitated for a second but was able to seat us no problem. I don't know what it was about the menus but I just loved them, the salmon pink is a total move. They had an extensive wine by the bottle menu as well as a large cocktail menu. This place is quite pricey. The appetizers were all around $30 or more. I had to remind myself I was in the West Village but the service lacked a bit, luckily, I believe it was the manager took over for our original sever and he made up for the extremely slow service to begin with. We sat for about 20 minutes before a drink order was taken, then it took quite a while to order our food. Once our food order was in, the rest of the evening went smoothly. A woman came around with bread service, the options were sourdough, multigrain and sunflower. I had never had sunflower bread before, highly recommend it was great. The other two options just average. We definitely needed more olive oil on the table for the three of us.We ordered the prosciutto appetizer with burrata, super expensive, I did not have any but it seemed to be enjoyed by the rest of the group. For entrees, I ordered the eggplant parmesan. It was outstanding. The flavor was unlike anything I have tasted, so well seasoned, really a special dish. The basil on top was outstanding, I just wanted more of that. The birthday girl got the Cache e Pepe, after trying my eggplant she said she could have gotten that. She enjoyed her dish but just said it was the wrong thing to order there. Chicken paillard was the third dish and definitely enjoyed. For dessert we ordered the tiramisu and the brought a cookie out with a candle for my sister. The cookie was really not great, but it was a nice touch. The tiramisu was excellent. What started out as an extremely slow service experience was quickly turned around by the general manager. He had his eyes on every table, noticed we were ready to order and that our server wasn't around so he jumped right in, it was seamless. He did an excellent job.

My friend moved to an apt in the west village for a few months and wanted to meet up for dinner . With the phletora of options , which one does one choose ? It's been a while since I've been to sant ambroeus . In fact , I've really only been to the one in soho . Boy was I glad I came to revisit this restaurant. Small , quaint , cozy , a perfect place to meet friends and go on out on date. Service is attentive , ambiance is European cool, the food is simple , European , some familiar and all well executed . We shared the vittelo tonnato for appetizers ( I've never had it before but my friend is from Switzerland but lives in hk and was ecstatic to see the item on the menu ) and the branzino of the day (served with 2 sides ), a dish good for 3 people over a bottle of white and some cocktails . It was an enjoyable dining experience and my only regret is not saving room for dessert as all the options look amazing . More of a reason to come back !

I am extremely allergic to sesame seeds and nuts. I looked the waitress in the eye and said this and explicitly asked if there were nuts or sesame in the bread. She said no and served it to me. I proceeded to have an extreme allergic reaction and was sick for hours. Do not tell someone no if the answer is yes. If you are not sure, don't serve it. Unprofessional and overly expensive.

Lovely little neighborhood gem. Gorgeous food. Very generous portions - we ordered one app, one salad, one pasta and one dessert between two and we were very full! Gorgeously decorated for Christmas. Might be a regular!

I came here for brunch. All I can say is that this place is alright, but just alright.Yes, there are several exciting things about this place:1. It looks nifty and quasi historical2. The staff is lovely and super professional3. Location is amazing! So why the three stars?a. The menu was rather boringb. Food was good, (I had the omelet with Spanish), but nothing too excitingc. Bacon was okay...Basically, there are a lot more exciting places that also look "cute".

Came here with a reservation on a Friday night. Definitely not a spot to come to without a reservation. A ton of people try to walk in and ended up just getting smashed at the bar. The ambience is absolutely adorable. I wasn't impressed with the menu when I looked at it online ahead of time, however When I actually ordered from the menu, the food is excellent. And they do make one of the better dirty martinis. Especially in the city I feel like you don't get a full drink, and I was quite impressed by the size of their drinks. We did order the steak Which was a little undercooked compared to what we asked for, but they immediately fixed it and even gave us an extra dessert to make it up to us. The service was top-tier. We also ordered the salmon and several appetizers. I really did enjoy the salmon and it was cooked perfectly. They had a tuna tartar special, which was absolutely divine. As for the desserts, we had the tiramisu, ricotta, cheesecake, and the hazelnut cake, which was absolutely delicious. The ricotta cheesecake almost has like a meringue like flavor to it, which I thought was unique. Overall, we absolutely would come back. And the pastas are delicious as well.

When reading this review, keep in mind that the food I am talking about is take out and might not reflect the food of the actual restaurant. The food was terrible. The chicken paillard was disgusting. It was drowned in sauce to the point that if you didn't know that it was chicken, it would be hard to tell. The salmon was incredibly dry and came with lentils which were flavorless. This restaurant is also very expensive. It is not worth its price at all.
