I recently had the pleasure of dining at San Sabino with a group of friends, and I was truly impressed by how well the restaurant balances casual elegance. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a warm and lively atmosphere that immediately set the tone for a fantastic evening. The bar area, buzzing with energy, is perfect for unwinding with a well-crafted cocktail or glass of wine after a long day, while the dining area offers a more intimate and refined setting, ideal for savoring a full meal at a relaxed pace. What stood out most was the restaurant's innovative yet approachable take on Italian-American seafood. The menu is both playful and sophisticated, offering dishes that pay homage to tradition while introducing exciting new flavors. One of the standout plates for me was the octopus carpaccio, which was expertly paired with spicy capicola to create a perfect balance of tenderness, heat, and depth of flavor. Every bite was thoughtfully composed, and it was clear that a lot of creativity and passion went into crafting each dish.Beyond the incredible food and inviting ambiance, the service at San Sabino was top-notch. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, and eager to offer recommendations, making our experience feel even more personalized and enjoyable. It's rare to find a place that seamlessly blends great food, a lively yet comfortable atmosphere, and attentive service, but San Sabino does just that. Whether you're looking for a vibrant spot for drinks or a memorable dinner with friends, this restaurant is a fantastic addition to the West Village dining scene and one that I'll absolutely be returning to!

I made a reservation at San Sabino for my birthday dinner with my boyfriend and it did not disappoint. The ambiance is intimate yet upscale. We ordered the shrimp Parmesan, steak, and halibut. Everything was so so good. The shrimp Parmesan was my favorite - I was thinking about this meal for the next day omg. It featured 3 jumbo shrimps, including the heads, breaded and coated in a tomato sauce and mozzarella. I definitely see how people said this dish tasted like chicken. I also loved the halibut. There were crispy and fragrant toppings which contrasted very well with the smoother texture of the halibut. The steak was also very yummy and was adorned with little nuts that elevated the breaded meat. This was my boyfriend's favorite and their most popular dish. We also got the chocolate ice cream cake at the end but the cake was quite hard, thought this one was passable.Overall found this to be one of my favorite meals I've had in the city so far - def lived up to the hype!

Our friends recommend this place and we managed to get lunch reservations on a rainy Saturday to be seated promptly on our promised time. We loved the fresh interiors which made the place look bright even on a cloudy day! Noise levels were on the lower side, and the restaurant was packed to capacity. Our server Andre showed up promptly to take our order which consisted of the highly recommended Spicy Tuna ($24), Cheesy Frittelle ($14), Lobster Triangoli ($38), Manicottini Della Casa ($29), Smoke Potato Crocchette ($14), and a very special Ziti made with butter and cheese for our little one.A recent visit to another newly opened Italian place had set the bar high, and so were our expectation from San Sabino, and while the food was very tasty, the pasta's did not live up to that expectation.Their Spicy Tuna though, was extremely tasty and highly recommended. Options for vegetarians are very limited, with just one pasta on the menu and few sides.Overall, a very good experience, and we'll definitely recommend this place to friends and family.

I love seafood and I really like the Italian seafood dishes at this spot. We ordered: -lobster triangoli: delicious, creamy, and umami. -octopus carpaccio: it honestly looks like and taste like thinly sliced octopus and ham roll. You see thinly sliced ham or some sort of meat but there's also thin circles of octopus within each of the slices. A very interesting dish. -stuffed mussels: very good. Love the minced garlic inside. -shrimp parm: definitely my favorite dish. Basically tasted like a chicken parm but instead of chicken, there's shrimp. Just absolutely delicious. Service is good overall. Staffs are attentive and the ambiance is great with really good food and drinks for both large and small groups.

Food here is pretty good, but I think Don Angie (sister restaurant) is better and better worth heartache of trying to get a reservation at.We really enjoyed the arancini with spicy tuna. Everything else was decent but I feel like I've had just as good in other restaurants. The lobster triangoli is tasty but also expensive for four pieces @ $38. It's not a classic lobster ravioli and I think it's decent (but again, potentially had better). For the shrimp parm, it was good but I think the sauce and cheese overpowers the shrimp.

Welp I tried to get a reservation at Don Angie and failed. So I waited in line here at San Sabino and luckily was able to get in. This is their sister restaurant. Steps away from their Don Angie location. A nice very upscale vibe inside. A beautiful bar and intimate seating. The cheese fritelle was a nice starter. A puffy dish with sweetness to it. The star of the show for me was the Steak magazzino. The crusted steak was just amazing. One of the best things I had on my entire trip to NYC. That was so good! The anchovy chili crisp and pine nuts gave it that extra texture and kick. My goodness! The meatballs were good and sharable. The service was very friendly and attentive. I would come here again just for the steak magazzino

Ok-- this was some of the BEST FOOD I've had this year. I thought Don Angie was my #1 pasta place in Manhattan, but this might officially be my #1. We ordered 5 dishes to share among the 4 of us, because the portion sizes were tiny.- Stuffed mussels: 100/10 (omg this was heavenly. Creamy, baked goodness.)- Vongole: 100/10 (some of the best Vongole I've ever had. I loved how flavorful the sauce was. The texture of the pasta was the perfect al dente.)- Halibut: 100/10 (the fish was buttery soft and the sauce was super flavorful. Some of the best fish dish I've had in a while.)- Lobster triangoli: 100/10 (the creamy sauce was amazing and the lobster stuffing added a nice seafood kick to the dish)- Stuffed farfalle: 100/10 (this is like the non-sweet version of don Angie's caramelized pasta. Loved this.)Vibes were amazing-- the dim ambient lighting gave almost a Christmasy vibe. Service was great too!

Best italian seafood place in NYC! We ordered:-Octopus: cut into very thin pieces with a citrusy flavor, super unique-Stuffed Mussels: very warm and tasty, had some sort of rice inside it-Shrimp Parm: the dish that made us come here in the first place, the shrimp pieces are pretty big and there was more meat than I expected. Very delish-Lobster Pasta: Strong flavor that explodes in your mouth, very nicely doneOverall food was on the lighter side, so you can order 4 dishes between 2 people and finish it all. Service was good, ambiance was awesome although the place wasn't too big.

San Sabino has been on my list a while and I was finally been able to get in for lunch. Space is quite tight, with tables so close it's like you're sitting with the party next to you. Despite having an uncomfortable first impression as we were squeezed in between two occupied tables, it was made up for the the quality of the food. To start off we had the Spicy tuna and Cheesy Frittellle. The Frittelle is basically a cheesy Italian donut with honey and it is oh so good - not to be missed. The spicy tuna arancini were full of flavor and perfectly crispy. For entrees we had the Lobster Roll, which is on a an Italian Lobster Tail Pastry. I never thought this combination would be so tasty, but it was spectacular. I'd like to come back and try the dinner menu, but since it was really cramped at the tables, I may try for bar seating next time.

This would've been 4 stars but god the service really leaves a lot to be desired here. Also don't come here for special occasions or business-related events with clients. Good:- scallop- insalata- chicken- gorgeous interior and ambiance Not good:- seasoning on both pastas were sooooo salty (had the meatball & lobster pastas)- lobster pasta had a weird crème fraiche note in the sauce that turned us off (too much tang)- not very imaginative dessert optionsBad:- service. Maybe our server was really young and inexperienced but she persistently recommended us things on the menu that we purposely did not order? One recommendation, yes love it. But a stream of suggestions? Also we ordered 1 seafood (white sauce) and 1 meat (red sauce) pastas which she then called "odd" like sorry I didn't realize we were getting our order taken by Thomas Keller lmao?? And she kept interrupting our conversations when clearly we were in the middle of something important- we were celebrating a birthday and work event... and even confirmed with a host via text that it was a special-ish occasion... and listen, it's New York, and I'm not expecting a red carpet but no mention, not even a "whose birthday is it?" Yeah doesn't feel like a don angie sister restaurant
