In the City for a long weekend visit with our adult "kids", they suggested San Carlo Osteria Piemonte 1) because they'd never been their and 2) because the parents were probably treating. ;-)Were we ever glad they did. The atmosphere and vibe were intimate and cosmopolitan. We started our mini reunion with an Upstate Spritz (Vodka, Aperol, Prosecco, and Soda), a couple of Hendrix Gin Martinis, and Belvedere Neat. We'd asked for extra olives, and our fantastic waiter brought us an entire creamer full!We let our transplanted Texan son order dinner to be shared family style. For starters, he ordered the ZUCCA IN PASTELLA CON BLU DI CAPRA, Fried butternut squash, blu di capra cheese, red bell pepper sauce, BATTUTA DI MANZO, Hand-cut beef tartare, capers, toasted hazelnuts, shallots confit, lemon zest, crispy multigrain bread, and a INSALATA SAN CARLO, Lacinato kale, Romanesco broccoli, pecorino Toscano, pistachio pesto & Meyer lemon dressing. For the SECONDI, we ordered GNOCCHI DELLA VAL VARAITA CON FONDUTA DI TOMA E BURRO NOCCIOLA, Homemade potatoes gnocchi with Toma cheese fondue and brown butter, COTOLETTA ALLA MILANESE, Thinly pounded veal chop "Milanese" style, tartare sauce, arugula, and cherry tomatoes, and ANATRA SCOTTATA, PUREA DI SEDANO RAPA E BARBABIETOLE, Pan-seared duck breast, celery root puree, baby beets. What were our favorites? EVERYTHING! It's easy to understand why San Carlo Osteria Piemonte was included in the Michelin Guide for 2022 and has continued to be listed since. It was an exquisite evening!

I stumbled upon this restaurant in Soho, and I am so glad they could accommodate us. Sitting outside was nice and quiet, and they provided blankets because it was a chillier night. The servers were all amazing, incredibly friendly and professional.Gnocchi: 9/10This gnocchi is delicious! The pasta itself was cooked perfectly and melted in my mouth. The cheese sauce was also delicious although it's strong and heavy. I got this dish as an appetizer to share, which was the move.Rabbit pasta: 10/10I was so pleasantly surprised by this pasta! The pasta felt so delicate in my mouth. The noodles were perfectly cooked and delicious and plentiful, and I loved the flavor with the rabbit. One of the best pasta dishes I have ever had!Special pappardelle with meat: 8.5/10This pasta was great! The pasta again was perfect. The flavor was good too as was the sauce.Overall, this restaurant is a must try!

I came here for dinner with a native Italian who recommended this place, which is always a good sign! Ambiance / Service: different vibes than many of the other Manhattan Italian spots - it's not trendy, but has a very intimate and cozy atmosphere. One of those places where the owner walks around and talks to the guests. It's not fancy, but still nice and would be great for a date night. Service was great. Food: we ordered a lot and did family style amongst 4 people so we could try more. Pasta portions aren't that big so you just get a sampling. Food felt more traditional and has that homemade feel to it. I enjoyed! Some favorites were:-Pan Seared Octopus: cooked to perfection.-TAGLIERE DI SALUMI CON BURRATA: nothing crazy about this, it's a meat board with burrata, but it's a great app to share. -TAJARIN AL RAGU DI CONIGLIO: this was the best thing we ordered. I don't usually eat rabbit, but this was delicious. Sadly no photo - we all ate it too quickly.

A wonderful lunch. Shared the burrata and split the tagliatelle with wild boar. Both were really nice dishes. Mains- skirt steak with poached eggs and crispy potatoes, overall great dish. The other main, branzino with asparagus and parsnip puree. A nice light fish bursting with flavour! The service was fantastic, everyone was so nice!

This is the first restaurant I've had a solo dining experience. It was my birthday and during the day so none of my friends were free. I took myself out to lunch and wanted to do shopping in SoHo after. It was not busy at all on this Thursday afternoon. The host and server were SUPER kind and friendly throughout. They kept checking in on me, refilling waters. Of course, I wonder if not being swamped with customers is part of the reason, but also it seemed they are focused on keeping good service no matter how busy it would be. I ordered the lunch special which is an awesome deal of $26!! The complimentary bread was delicious, hot, and fresh! I ordered the salad Burrata Pomodorini e Rucola, which was very refreshing. I also ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara. Both dishes were delicious, and again the Lunch special is a great deal!!Once my platters were cleared away, the server struck a conversation with me. He was telling me how there is live music on Sundays (I'll have to check it out!!) Then the host surprised me (was striking up the conversation the server's tactic to distract me??) and brought over some cookies with a candle and started singing!!! I really appreciated how, despite me dining alone, the host and server sang Happy Birthday to me, in the restaurant that had no more than 4 other diners there total. It was really sweet and cute, and reflected the great service. Shoutout to Ghadi, the host for a nice lunch experience!

(Overall: C) - Overall, I felt that this restaurant has a few interesting items on the menu, particularly on the pasta side. The service was good, but the atmosphere was a bit tight. For the current price point though, I was not particularly blown away by the food overall, especially on the appetizer front, and the presentation element was definitely lacking.(Appetizers: D) - We tried a variety of appetizers, and while the bread was quite good, I felt like the other items were just not quite my cup of tea. All of those items seemed like various cold cuts, which is fine, but the garnishes felt kinda lazily added in addition and does not provide for good unison of the dish presented.(Negroni: C) - For choice of drink, I opted for a classic negroni which tasted fine. However, I felt like there was significant room for improvement on the presentational side as this drink is not difficult to make and I would've liked to see more skillful presentation such as removing the rind from the lemon peel, shaping the lemon peel, intriguingly shaped ice, etc to make the cocktail seem more thought out. (Octopus Pasta: B) - For the entree, I opted for the octopus pasta, which had impressively complex flavor development in that tomato ragu like sauce. What I would've liked to see improved is the the quantity as there are only a countable number of pieces of pasta as well as the presentational aspect -- most octopus dishes have significant room for plating as octopus legs give a very unique shape to work with, but here it looks like any other ragu. (Affogato: B) - The affogato is of good quality and provides a good balance between sweet and bitter. I would've liked to see some elevated presentation at this price point, but otherwise is good. --Food: EPresentation: -1Price: -1Atmosphere: EService: +1Menu: +1 Overall: +0 CInsta/Beli: @amei_eats

I came here on a rainy Friday night after work, I had a 6pm reservation, and there was no one dining indoors. I have heard of this restaurant because of restaurant week but I've never been. This restaurant was recommended by a sommelier on Piedmontese cuisine and Gavi wine. I had to start the Piedmontese journey with a glass of Picollo, Gavi, which was very good and paired perfectly together with the vitello tonnato. Every sip and every bite balanced all the flavors together. For the main Entree, I went with the agnolotti di Brasato, and initially was hoping to pair it with the Gavi, but I finished that glass fairly quickly after the appetizer so I ended up pairing it with the Curvee Rosato. I did enjoy the pasta dish, but this dish was pretty small, and I only made it halfway with the wine, so I ended up getting dessert. For dessert, I ordered the Bonet, which was the Piedmontese flan. The flan definitely looked small, but it complemented the curvee rosato really well. I had to get the decaf cappuccino to end my evening. Staff, especially the GM, was welcoming, and I inquired about their famous Ravioli. All their pastas are freshly homemade in-house. The Ravioli dish was taken off the menu for the season and will return sometime in the winter. Therefore, I hope to return during the winter if there is no snow or blizzard. I'll definitely want to explore the happy hour menu. Happy hour is from 3pm-6pm.

This has been a consistent favorite and a must visit place for me from before I lived in the city. And even since then, with all of the truly life changing Italian places here, it still stands up to them all. The vitello tonnato (something like that) is delicious and something I must order every time I'm in and the last time I dined here, the spaghetti with the lemon, butter, and shrimp was so simple but absolutely divine. Wines are also really delicious, and service is always attentive. Ambiance is super cute, dark, intimate but lively.

This place has been on my radar for a while. I first found out about it when I was doing research on the best Italian restaurants in New York City. This place came up at the top of the list. It's a Michelin rated upscale, gourmet, authentic Italian restaurant specializing in the cuisine from the Piedmont region of Northwestern Italy (bordering Switzerland and France). I decided to finally eat there yesterday evening because I just happened to walk by and I was hungry.I ordered the Tajarin Al Ragu Di Coniglio. It's a homemade thin spaghetti with slow cooked rabbit, lemon, rosemary, and Voghiera's black garlic. It was absolutely delicious. It was also the first time I ever had rabbit meat. I was surprised with how succulent and flavorful it was. The meal came with fresh bread and olive oil.The reason I am deducting one star is because for $29 I felt that it was overpriced. I really was expecting more food, certainly more meat. At the very least they could have included a salad with the meal if they are charging that much money.I want to come back and try something from the Lunch Menu which is $26 and includes the choice of a side or appetizer.
