How good could a corner sandwich shop be? Extremely good.Possibly my #1 Tuna Melt by far. The tuna is generously mixed with pickles and mayo, along with the gooey cheese makes every bite a true delight. Sourdough bread was super light, toasted to perfection, crunchy and airy. Just wonderful.

Truly one of my favorite restaurants in the neighborhood. Not only is it a charming gem but their sandwiches are always fantastic. I've truly never had a bad meal here - you can't skip on their desserts. Weekends are normally crowded so stalking tables is needed but I've never had to wait long.

I had to wait a while before writing this review lest I be a bit TOO effusive. But honestly, this is tied for my favorite spot in ridgewood and possibly the city. Salty Lunch Lady's (Dria Atencio's) reputation preceded her before she opened up her space. She has done tons of pop ups around the Brooklyn era and was known for insanely beautiful and delicious baked goods and sandwiches. So I'll be honest, I am susceptible to hype and the opening of this place was really as good as I hoped. It absolutely has lasting power though. It's still popping every time I go and there are always fun specials to keep the tight menu interesting. The space is adorable and very I guess... twee? Pink walls with green milk glass dishes, a poodle lamp, etc etc. But let's talk about the FOOD!!!!I have to discuss the dill party. I am a turkey sandwich expert and I never understood why pickles are so criminally underused in turkey sandwiches. Here, they are gloriously OVERused- dill havarti, dill mayo, pickles, avocado, and fresh turkey on a ciabatta like bread. It's my favorite sandwich there and possibly ever. The green goddess egg salad sando is fresh af and so delicious. definitely also try her tuna salad sandwiches. She does a melt special sometimes which I haven't tried yet but I did try the tuna crunch once and it has salt and vinegar chips on it and I don't think I need to say anything more. If I need to treat myself I will get a slice of cake or a brown butter chocolate chips cookie and yes it is expensive but split it with friends. Live a little. I'm not actually even really a cake person but can't turn her cakes down- they are just so incredibly tasty. Also her iced coffee is fantastic? Idk... no notes. Only drawback is other people are onto this spot so it can take a moment to get your order and the seating is right. I am line averse but I will stand in line for this. It is absolutely worth it. So how was I? was I chill? Eh... oh well. The place is too damn good. Dria 4ever.

Cutey sandwich deli vibes with a touch of ridgewood charm. Loved it.We need more casual dining places like this because sometimes you just want a good ole sandwich and a bag of chips. This is definitely the place for that and you can snag a chocolate chip cookie if you're lucky. The prices are kinda high in my opinion coming at around $16 a sandwich with no sides but atleast they're a good size.We tried the squash special which had delicata squash, goat cheese and some pickled veg. It was surprisingly really good and very savory. Also tired the spicy mortadella sandwich which was also super creative and yummy. It looks like the menu rotates so we will be back whenever we're in the area.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but cold sandwiches I can take them to leave them. They always seem to be haphazardly put together and are not always enjoyable. The Salty Lunch Lady has changed my mind. Sandwiches are put together thoughtfully and with care so each bite delivers deliciousness and just makes you happy.Green Eggs was such a wonderful take on a usually standard egg salad sandwich. Green Goddess dressing adds a wonderful brightness to the egg salad and topped with watercress, it comes together as a fantastic sandwich. The Fancy Bologna is thinly sliced mortadella topped with provolone, spicy pickled chili relish and shredded escarole. Each bite was perfect and I loved the spice coming from the relish. It was a work of art.We also grabbed a slice of the cake available, which was a chocolate cake with a coconut pastry cream filling and chocolate frosting. it was wonderful, not too sweet and a perfect balance of chocolate and coconut. The food is definitely five stars, but prices are a bit on the high side.If all cold sandwiches were as good as The Salty Lunch Lady's versions I'd be into them way more.

Food (4/5) - Came highly recommended and a solid gem of the neighbourhood. What was ordered: Chicky sandwich, breakfast sandwich, yuzu cake, banana peanut butter cream pie, fudgy cookie. The others in our party also ordered a squash me sandwich and fancy bologna sandwich. We all liked our food a lot - the yuzu cake was a treat with yuzu cream strawberry cream sandwiched between perfectly baked, moist yellow cake. Normally am not a fan of peanut butter in desserts, but the pie was also delectably executed. Surprisingly liked the breakfast slider a lot even though it wasn't on the typical sandwich menu, with a little kick in the sweet red sauce that elevated the classic dish.Price (4/5) - Honest and good portions, sandwiches were 13-15 each and pretty filling. Cookies and cake ran you 4-8.Ambiance and service (5/5) - Prompt and waitstaff were really helpful with our orders. Can be a bit of a wait if coming during rush hour as the place only seats 15-20 people, but there are extra chairs on the side and some outdoor seating as well.

We were lucky enough to get to attend a lasagna dinner at the Salty Lunch Lady's. I know that it isn't the typical experience, but if it was any indication of the regular fare, you cannot go wrong. The shop seems delightful--lots of cute pinks and greens. The owners seem very nice. The best part, of course, though, was the food. We had three different kinds of lasagna--my favorite was the bolognese with bechamel sauce. We also had crispy garlic bread, salad, and a simple olive oil cake with lemon curd. Everything was delicious, and we truly appreciated the entire experience!

GREAT little spot in Ridgewood to go get lunch. Came in earlier today for some cake and sandwiches with friends. The few ladies behind the counter were very nice.Probably enough seating for about 20-22 people in the restaurant, and you can easily grab and go.Tight menu. 8 sandwiches and 3 desserts. We ordered the following:Squash MeMortadella sandwichBreakfast specialChicken meatballBanana, peanut butter, and chocolate cream pieYuzu cakeDouble chocolate chip cookieIt was all amazing! The squash me was my favorite sandwich (which is rare for me to say since it was vegetarian... great combo of flavors)

Came for lunch on a Sunday with a friend and grabbed bar seats. I wanted to love this place but merely liked it, partly because of how hilariously self-serve it was on the day I visited. We walked in and were not acknowledged by the two ladies behind the bar until we asked them what the deal is (turns out you order at the counter and seat yourself, which is great but sort of unclear upon entry). We ordered the dill party sandwich, fancy bologna, lemon bar and hummingbird cake. The lemon bar was incredible, and my favorite sandwich was the bologna. Cake was also great. Back to the self-serve part: you get the glassware/water and silverware yourself (again, no big deal) and when our sandwiches were ready, they called our name. I looked over to the kitchen window area, where an employee was standing on the dining room side holding our sandwiches. I had guessed they would either have me retrieve the food from the counter (a la other fast casual places) or bring it to the table, but I was confused for a second, and we made awkward eye contact until it was clear I was supposed to walk over 10 steps and retrieve the sandwiches from her. Again, not a big deal, but it was a weird moment. TLDR; confusing system but food was good and vibe was cute.

Amazing sandwiches with high quality ingredients, fun combinations, and great composition, and some lovely desserts I intend to try next time; several people were getting the beach pie and the chocolate peanut butter cake. We ordered the Fancy Bologna with mortadella and the Chicky with chicken meatball--both terrific!!, and stopped by Ice Cream Window a few blocks down afterwards for dessert. Note: there are no vegan or gluten-free options at present, and they don't seem to have any alcohol license yet, but there's a good deal of seating indoors and on the cute outdoor patio. Also, the best toilet I've ever seen!
