My best omakase ever.. I've been to Masa, Sushi Noz and many other places but this was like no other.Chef Ivan was very nice and we had a blast with my friends.I liked every single dish which was super rare and the environment was absolutely beautiful.100% recommend the 19 course but it was a bit pricyMust try at least once

Saishin was highly recommended to me as a good value omakase spot in NYC by a friend who is local here & I'm glad I got to experience it this trip.Located on the rooftop of a hotel, this restaurant offers stunning views of New York. The indoor decor is dim with lots of hanging lights and plant fixtures & the ambiance is just lovely. My coworker and I were actually freezing and got there almost an hour earlier than our reservation. The host, Daniel, was very gracious and let us sit down pretty early. He's also got a funny & charming personality. The fish quality is really good here, very clean and fresh. The flavors are bold, but harmonious. My favorite out of the 14pcs omakase would be the marinated tuna. The uni sushi I got a la carte was delicious as well. The thicker cuts of pickled ginger was crunchy and different, loved it. If I had to critique anything, it's that the sushi rice was ever so slightlier mushy but that's comparing to Michelin star restaurants.Had a super great time here & would def come back in the warmer months to experience the patio seating.

Saishin was a wonderful omakase experience. Not only was the sushi delicious, but the views of the Empire State Building & One World Trade Center could not be beat.We opted for the 19 courses and had no regrets. It was well-paced and didn't leave us feeling extra stuffed. You could tell everything was fresh and high quality. I will say at $175 p/p it's a little steep, and having tried other omakase spots, you can likely find similar experiences in the city at a lower price. The skyline views and service were impeccable however, so overall it was worth it to us. I would definitely return for a special occasion!

Wow, I had the most amazing Omakase experience at Saishin, a little hidden gem on the rooftop of the Gansevoort Hotel.Chef Jorge, a Peruvian native, served a parade of delicious sushi dishes with a Peruvian influence. I felt like been transported back to Lima, Peru's foodie heaven. The views of the NYC skyline were breathtaking, the chef's personal service was impeccable, and the overall vibe was incredible.I absolutely loved it! Thank you, Chef!

A rooftop omakase in the Gansevoort Hotel. The space is very nice with a great view of the city. I wish I could say the same for the quality of the food. The fish is not the freshest. They put a lot of soy sauce and WAYYYYY too much wasabi. You can see it in my photos. The pieces were simple , no special flavor, just soy sauce. For a place over 100, I expected a little more.

4.5/5 service5/5 ambiance3/5 food I was very intrigued by the rooftop aspect and wanted to try this place out. I was excited to try the unique pieces such as the passion fruit foam or plum topping that I never had before. However, I was let down by the overall quality and taste of each piece. As someone who has tried MANY omakase places in the city, Saishin ranks one of the lowest on my list. There was no "wow" factor or any memorable pieces that I enjoyed, and for the price point I was expected a lot more. I opted for the 12 piece to start off with, but was glad I did because I was already bored of each piece from the beginning. My favorite piece is always fatty tuna, but was let down again as it was topped off with too much truffle which messed up the fattiness texture. A lot of omakase places for half the price offer wagyu which this place didn't include, which is fine since they do offer a good amount of uni if that's your thing. To end it all, dessert was included with the 12 piece course which I thought was really weird and not worth the price point at all. It was a panna cotta with some berry jam on top. I already knew first bite that it was not made correctly or not made fresh. There was a skin or film layer on top which ruined the texture of the supposedly known smooth texture of panna cotta. Overall, hard pass. I am going to be more harsh since it is more of a pricier omakase, which I guess you're paying for the rooftop? But if you care about food more I would recommend going to other places that are half the price point.

TLDR: Solid omakase, modern/creative flavors, spectacular view. If you're in the Meatpacking area - not a bad choice. If you're going to go, get the premium option; it is well worth it.Saishin is a new restaurant from the Kissaki group on top of the Gansevoort. The view is very nice and they have tables where you can eat outside as well.We opted for the premium omakase. Aside from the additional three dishes, about 40% of the courses have different ingredients than the base course at $135.Chefs were very friendly and took their time to explain the different courses. The most memorable pieces for me were the scallop/uni/truffle starter, seared golden eye snapper with passion fruit foam and seared toro with the caviar and gold flakes.Overall, everything was good but felt at this price point - you can either have had a more elevated experience or a similar experience for less money. The a la carte prices were among the higher amounts that I've seen at sushi restaurants. Even the more showy ones like Lure, Nobu, Katsuya, etc.If I were to come back, I would only get the premium omakase. Not the base or the a la carte.

We went here on an Friday night around 8 PM. To get to this rooftop you get walked through 2 other rooms, both with different ambiance's and then walk through into this room. The restaurant is classy and the Omakase bar area is beautiful. We both had the 15 course Omakase ($175) each. Each course was beautifully prepared and thought out. Our chef did an amazing job explaining each course and answered any questions we had. The service was excellent and the staff had so much knowledge on sake pairings with the sushi. Great conversations overall.

Selling point is their ambiance. The appetizers were better than the actual omakase. The pieces of fish were so small and heavily seasoned. Even the toro, which is supposed to be an easy win, was surprisingly not that tasty and a little bit slimy. Service was nice and the panna cotta dessert was also yummy but given the price point, will not come again.
