A great Western-fusion take on pho. Being Vietnamese American and having grown up in Southern California, where pho culture is thriving, my palate is pretty refined, and my standards are high, to say the least. This was my only pho experience while visiting New York, and I have to say, I'm impressed. Saigon Shack delivers a modern take on pho that caters to a younger crowd, reminiscent of places like Sup Noodle Bar in Orange County. While it may not be 100% authentically Vietnamese, it's a delicious adaptation that brings bold flavors and a contemporary twist to a classic dish. The broth was rich and flavorful, though slightly sweeter and less traditional than what I'm used to. The portions were generous, and the ingredients tasted fresh. The vibrant atmosphere and trendy vibe make it a great spot for young, hungover, 20-somethings looking for comfort food with a modern edge.If you're in Greenwich Village and craving pho, Saigon Shack is definitely worth a visit. It might not transport you straight to Vietnam, but it's a solid bowl that stands out in the New York food scene.

My friends and I were in search of hot soup/broth-y things while in the area and stumbled upon this place! The Saigon Shack pho featured beef balls, brisket, and sliced beef. The beef balls were chewy, bouncy, and tasty. The brisket wasn't as tender as I had hoped, likely because it was on the lean side. The noodles were pretty standard. Appreciated how the broth was hot enough but didn't overcook my noodles. Flavor wise, it was well-seasoned with an appropriate level of saltiness and onions/green onions. Sprouts were fresh but wish they gave us more basil. Coming from the West Coast, I didn't think there was anything super impressive but overall their pho was solid for NYC standards. Food came out quick. There was a good amount of seating but mostly for parties of 2. We were seated close to the main door so it was unfortunately cold. Cash only if you order with the staff, BUT you can also use Apple Pay if you order via QR code (with an extra $1 fee I believe).

Nice cozy pho spot without needing to go to C-town. Cash only. Good service. We had the regular pho, spicy pho and chicken pho along with summer rolls and spring rolls. The rolls were excellent especially the spring rolls. Not too greasy, great flavor and nice crunch. Chicken pho's broth was nice. The chicken was grilled though instead of the traditional poached style but still good. The beef pho broth lacked depth and lacked flavor. The noodles and meats were excellent though but the broth had got to bring it!

Walked in on a Sunday night after seeing how popular it was on Yelp. The wait was fairly quick, just about 10 min for two people. Tables were turned over quickly and service was fast. There were a lot of college students grabbing quick bites. But the pho was honestly one of the worst I've had in the city, or ever. I got the saigon pho and it was so bland. I'll give them credit for the large portion size, but the noodles were grainy and the meat was chunky and difficult to chew. Even hoisin couldn't save the dish.Tldr; good for quick eats but would not recommend the pho. Also cash only.

This place is legit. I have been really disappointed in the quality of Vietnamese food in Manhattan, but Saigon Shack hits. It's small, limited counter space and tables packed in, so it always feels crowded. It's not really a linger over your meal kinda place, it's more of a lunch joint. I've been twice and had the summer roll in warmer weather which was delicious, and just a few days ago had the chicken pho with a Thai iced tea. The Thai iced tea was good, strong, not insanely sweet. The chicken in the pho is grilled lemongrass chicken, which I am a big fan of. Even for places where the pho ga broth is good I don't normally eat much of the chicken cause boiled chicken is so boring. The lemongrass flavor infuses the broth, making it even more delicious. This place isn't super convenient to go get lunch from but I'll try to get back more often.

We struck our luck by showing up just before the dinner rush! I had the beef pho and a ginger ale. I asked for them to exclude the cilantro and they accommodated my request (thank you!) The noodles were chewy, and the broth was hot and not overly greasy/oily. Saigon Shack is probably my favorite pho in the city. Saigon Shack, as the name suggests, is quite small with a few tables available. The place also isn't overly bright. The music can be a bit loud, but it's good (so many bops played while we were dining!) The servers maneuvered the space seamlessly, and often anticipated needs (bringing extra napkins, grabbing the check, picking up trash). I was thoroughly impressed by the service!

I've been to this place a few times and there's a reason I always come back. Totally solid food at a pretty good price. I always order a bahn mi and am hardly disappointed. Make sure you bring cash because you have to order on your phone if you want to use a card, plus it's a tad more expensive. The place is small and can get a bit of a wait but if you like Vietnamese food, it's a good place to check out!

Saigon Shack is always a reliable place to grab some tasty Vietnamese food! It's not the best in the city necessarily, but I always enjoy it. I normally get the classic beef pho. The sleeper hit is really their sweet potato fries - the house made mayo is so good and the fries are always warm and fresh and fluffy! Keep in mind you need cash and it's a popular spot so you might need to wait! I'd also be ready to order ASAP if you're going during a peak time since they move really fast.

Food is always excellent. I mainly frequent this place for their impeccable fried fish banh mi. Excellent quality for the 10yrs i've been coming to Saigon Shack. Ambience is casual and lively. Service is fast and courteous. Highly recommend to anyone visiting ny or find themselves in west village.

My friend and I picked up lunch here because it's near our office and we were SO impressed. She tried the vegetarian pho and loved it, and I tried the lemongrass chicken pho. This chicken is SO GOOD. It is grilled and charred beautifully and the flavor is unmatched. Add it to the broth and it is really something special!! Adding this restaurant to my rotation for sure.
