I walked by this place so many times thinking to myself "no way it's worth sitting this close to everybody."Turned out that I was wrong. The food at Little Ruby's is fantastic. The anger I'd usually feel after being seated at a wobbly table spaced one foot away from the surrounding tables was mitigated by the delicious food and drinks. I get it now.

Little Ruby's is an affordable spot that has a great vibe and is perfect for a group, as the menu has something for everyone.I loved the "That Watermelon Drink" - it's a must! To eat, the Whipped Eggplant Dip and the Brussels Sprouts are perfect starters (I'm picky about my Brussels sprouts, these are on my top faves list). As an entree, I recommend the Spicy Vodka pasta. It was good, I do think the noodles were a bit overcooked in my opinion. For dessert, the Chocolate Cake is a must, the Toffee Pudding was a tad underwhelming.Service was wonderful and fast - I do recommend a reservation if trying to come on a weekend evening!

After a few failed attempts to walk into Little Ruby's, we finally made a reservation and were eager to try it out--and it did not disappoint! As a huge fan of bowls, I was in so happy with their selection. I went for the crispy rice bowl, and it was the perfect balance of fresh and filling. And let me just say--the sweet potato fries are so good with the sweet chili sauce. I don't understand why anyone would ask for it to be removed (apparently customers request this)The pasta, made in-house, was another highlight. If you're not an al dente person like me, you'll love how soft and comforting it is. As for the ambiance, we sat in a cozy corner booth, which was a nice touch. It had a ledge to rest our bags, and plenty of room for our coats. I also want to give a big shout-out to the staff. Heather was amazing--she wasn't even in our section but still made sure we had everything we needed. Danielle was equally stellar; she overheard me mentioning I'd be writing a review and jumped right into the conversation, sharing that she was the social media manager. It's those little touches that make a big difference. All in all, we had a wonderful experience and can't wait to come back!

Loved it. Packed with 20-30 somethings, great food very modestly priced for NYC, friendly chill staff. I really don't think you can go wrong here.

A friend and I came in for dinner a few days ago, and it was delicious. It's right off the train, making it an easy commute. I got there a bit early for the reservation, so I waited at the bar. I didn't realize that the restaurant is actually pretty big - it extends through the back to a much larger dining area. The servers are attentive, and made sure I was taken care of right away. We were seated promptly when she arrived. The food came out quickly and was delicious. I ordered the spicy vodka pasta and my friend got the shrimp avocado bowl. The dinner was seamless, and I'm looking forward to coming back.

Was looking for brunch spots in the area for a party or 6 and surprisingly not a lot of places took reservations at all. We were glad little ruby's did so we got a noon time slot on a weekday. The staff and servers are super nice and patient. We ordered the below dishes and some more. The food itself was tasty but nothing special. They did have a good variety of dishes on their menu which was nice. If you're looking for a cute brunch spot in the area definitely recommend checking this place out but be sure to make a reservation ahead of time.

Oh my!!! This place is a must visit in New York. The prices for these dishes were great and the food was yummy!Service was extremely nice apart from one of the hostesses at the front. Was a bit rude and dismissive. Our waitress was super kind and made sure our table had everything we needed. The vibes inside were soo good. The lighting was dark to create more of an intimate bar vibe but not too dark that you couldn't see the people at your table. There was also such good music playing. Loved it!Food:- whipped eggplant dip: 3.8/5 stars. Personally not my favourite but it was good. Thought it was pretty salty and small portion for what the price was. Came with bread too. Small to share and we ordered for a table of 5.- Brussels sprouts: 5/5 stars!!!! I loved these. They were seasoned to perfection and I could've easily eaten this entire thing myself.- creamy chicken pasta: 5/5 stars. This was the better pasta out of the two in my opinion. The sundried tomato's were soo good as well and they really do not hold back on giving chicken. It fills you up! Sauce was delicious.- vodka pasta: 3.5/5 stars. I expected more out of this pasta considering the hype. Sauce kinda tastes like it came out of a can and my pasta was overcooked so it was quite soft. Overall, the rest of the food was great but wouldn't recommend getting the vodka pasta if you're looking for the best one!

Note: Went here for dinner. Perhaps stick with brunch/breakfast only as the best thing was the cocktail and coffee.I went to this restaurant a good while back with a group as per most of my reviews recently. The staff was nice and the place had a nice atmosphere though perhaps a bit crowded and a bit too loud. The drink I had was one of their many draft cocktails, the Village Old Fashioned. This had bourbon, amaro montenegro, nocino, cacao, and orange peel, and was reasonably priced at $16. It's listed as an old fashioned but it almost has a negroni touch with the mix of sweetness and bitterness from the amaro with a light bite from the liquor and overall, it was a tasty cocktail and I would go back and order that again. I remember someone else liking their watermelon drink and I don't think anyone else ordered any other drink outside of coffee later (which was a solid flat white.)My main dish was (unfortunately) the Ruby's Ragu for $21 with slow braised beef short rib, pappardelle, pecorino, and a burrata sauce which the menu note contains bacon in it. The pasta was fine (a bit too cooked to be al dente but decent,) and the burrata was good quality, but unfortunately the sauce was not that good. I'm used to ragu and in general meat sauces being thicker with a richer flavor and I expected even more so with the mixture of the burrata and short rib but this was oddly light and not in a good way. The closest description I could give it would be watered down with the meat being stringy as well. The price of the pasta is more reasonable than many other spots in the area but it just wasn't tasty. My side dish, the Sautéed Spinach, with parmesan, shallot, lemon for $8 didn't really help the wateriness of the first dish. You can see from the photos that the spinach was resting in what you might as well call a broth. The flavor was alright (perhaps a bit sour) but again, what gives with the wateriness of both of these dishes (maybe they thought I was dehydrated or something.) In terms of other orders, someone else had the burger and they said it was alright and a few other people had sandwiches and stuff. The prices might have been a bit cheaper then many other spots but you get what you don't pay for. Mid 3 based on value with the cocktail being the highlight and a low 2 for the flavor at best. 2.4 rounded down. I'd go back for brunch probably but never again for dinner.

Went here the other day for brunch based off of a friends pick. I've been wanting to go for a little while but never really got around to it. It was great! Everything was really solid and great brunch option. The layout of this location was a little small but they make it work and it feels cozy.I got the breakfast sandwich which was delicious. Also tried the green eggs bowl which is more of an omelette, great just not what I was expecting. We also got the truffle aioli fries and penne alla vodka for the table. Would recommend both. The coffee is also very good. Now we were gonna skip dessert but I wouldn't. The banana bread was great but the real star of the show was the date cake. Would recommend and I would go back. A safe and easy option.

Everything on the plate was good! We stopped here for dinner after taking in some jazz nearby - around 7:30 on a Saturday night of a holiday weekend, and no wait on a table for 2 - how fortunate! I saw steak frites on the menu and it had been a while so this was the choice. The decor was simple and cozy, and cozily lit. Love the triangular shape of the restaurant, and yet they maximized space. I didn't realize there was more seating downstairs until I went to the restroom. We started with the salt and pepper calamari - it was lightly seasoned and perfectly fried. The steak frite was among the best I've had- my medium steak cooked perfectly, and brightness of the light lemony dressing on the arugula, and even the fries were good- the garlic aioli, and was that a hint of truffle oil? (I normally don't like truffle fries - it's too strong, but this was reminiscent of what a right amount would be) - if it was even truffle, I don't know. My husband enjoyed his creamy chicken pasta too - I had a bite (I taste everything), and the pasta was cooked just right. They were out of cocoa powder for a mocha, so he got a latte to finish the me, and it too was among the best- like Europe. When we are next near here, we'll plan to be back.
