This restaurant has been here since forever and as long as I can remember when I was growing up in lower East side. My family and I would always come here to get dim sum on the weekends. This place has really good dim sum. I love the black bean and garlic steamed spare ribs from this place. They are very spicy and aromatic. Steamed black bean beef tripe here is good too with the sponginess of the beef stomach with a lot of sauce. The one thing I wish when I go to this place is that the wait time is very long and when there is a table, you have to share it with other guests since they only have large round tables that seat 10 people. The good thing is that they have a separate table cloth for each party on the table.

Headed here for Dim Sum with the family on New Years Eve Eve. We waited awhile and even had to change tables once we were seated (not enough chairs for our party), but once we were seated the carts started rolling and everything we picked was great.shrimp dumplingsshrimp and pork dumplingssteamed pork bunsshrimp stuffed eggplantMore pork bunsAND TOFU PUDDING-YES!!!

Came here for dinner. The restaurant was lightly to moderately filled for a Wednesday night. The chairs show some wear. Overall, the place was quiet and somewhat worn. Service was efficient. There seemed to be one readily available. Asking for a bowl of rice was easy. A staff also came around to help change our plates when there was a lot of bones/shell. Food was all right. The lamb chops were tender and not dry. The other dishes were okay. The orange peel spare ribs are probably an acquired taste...Not impressed enough to come back on my own. Not opposed to returning if a family member/friend asked though.

If you are looking for an authentic Dim Sum experience Royal Seafood in Chinatown NyC will give you just that. There is nothing fancy about the ambiance, lady's pushing carts of selections by your table for you to pick... it's typical and traditional. We were pleased with the quality of the food.

I've been searching for an authentic dim sum place since Covid had shut a lot of them down. I saw this place called Royal seafood on Instagram. I was intrigued because it showed the ladies pushing the cart with the different dim sum foods. I put that on my places of must try. Sure enough I was not disappointed. The food was really good and the traditional cart service was what I was looking for. You would never know what this place looks like from the outside until you walk inside. It is really nice inside and really worth the food and experience.

Royal Seafood is my grandmother's favorite dim sum house in Manhattan Chinatown. Get here before 11am to avoid long waits for tables. Favorite dishes: ha gow (glass shrimp dumplings), Cheung fun (steamed rice rolls with shrimp, beef, or fried savory donut), gow choy dumplings, chicken feet, lo Mai gai (sticky rice in a lotus leaf with sausage), custard buns, ham sui gok (oval shaped fried mochi stuffed with pork), dou fu fa (silken tofu with brown sugar syrup).Dishes rotate frequently on the stem carts and the aunties will push you all sorts of dishes. Don't expect great English and if you have dietary restrictions, you're not going to get satisfactory answers here unless you flag a manager. Ambiance is chaotic, in that Hong Kong, noisy hum of lots of grandmas greeting their neighbors and servers clamoring to clear tables. Expect to share a table if your party is 4 people or under. If you've never been to dim sum, your check on the table is a little counter of how many small, medium, and large dishes you ate. Each dish size has a different price, and the waiter will tally it up at the end. It's a bit of a mystery, but for all the little dishes you get, it's a good deal! There are no steps to get in, and wheelchairs/walkers are easily accommodated at tables. However, Bathrooms are downstairs and not ADA accessible and are not well kept. High chairs are available.

My family has been dining here for years but a recent experience has made us decide to never come back again. We asked for a table for 5 and was told to wait. The waiter walked away from us and continued his business. After standing there for 5-10 minutes, another waiter seated us and apologized saying that they thought we were waiting for takeout. When the bill came, we made the mistake of undertipping $1 from the recommended amount and the first waiter who never seated us came back with the bill demanding more tip. We gave them extra tip but will not be returning. I can't believe they had the audacity to come back for $1The floor was very dirty as another reviewer stated. There was a used qtip, crumbs and some questionable stains on the floor next to our table. Also, one of the new waitresses does not understand Cantonese. I find it very strange that a Cantonese restaurant in the heart of Chinatown hired a waitress who doesn't understand Cantonese. When she reached over to clear the table, her shirt went into my tea cup. Additionally, the portion and taste of the food here is very inconsistent. You will get significantly less of a portion if you dine during the Chinese holidays and every time we come, it tastes like the food is made by a different chef. There are days where the food tastes food and other days where it's not so good. Nonetheless, we will be taking our business elsewhere after the terrible service today.
