I hadn't been here for a while and the chicken thighs were just as good as I remembered. I don't know what their secret is but I've never had such good chicken! Seriously! I got a mustard sauce and a chipotle sauce. Two orders of thighs to go and I wish I'd gotten 3. Don't sleep on this place. Takeout is a good option. I'm sure the rest of the menu is great also.

I got the chicken soup and the half chicken with 2 sides.The chicken soup was pretty expensive for mediocre soup. My wife was hungover so I needed to bring something home and this place was the closest thing to my job. She really didn't like it, I had to add more chickenstock and some bouillon to make it taste better.The half chicken and sides were good. The food is very pricey and so is the extra hot sauce. I added a 2 extra sauces on the side, your combo comes with one sauce. I looked the total and removed the extra sauce. A tiny cup is $2.25! Thats like going to mickey d's and paying $2.25 for some sweet & sour. Anyways the chicken was really tender and not dry at all. I mean it was really well cooked chicken. I have to admit it's probably why I'm giving this place 3 stars. In the end the guy gave me 2 hot sauces on the house. Thank you for the generosity, it definitely made the meal way better to have the extra sauce. The sides I got were mashed potatoes and fries. The mashed potatoes were mid at best. Anyways probably won't be coming back, dude at the front was nice but pretty expensive for some chicken and mid sides. The soup was 0 out of 10. I'd say there's a lot of other chicken spots in the area that do chicken way better. There's a lot of street parking by this place, in a busy area though.

I've been going her since opening day! So please forgive me on my late review.:)If you want good homemade chicken and sides that you don't want to make yourself then you need to try "PURBIRD". Let me first begin on how delicious the roast chicken is.

Lunch specials all day! We got the chicken breast + 2 sides + sauce + purbird bread. I had to get the purbird brownie too. The chicken is THE BEST here, can't go wrong. The garlic broccoli is pretty tasty as well. Their mashed potatoes aren't my favorite as they are pretty starchy and watery but the portion is generous. Definitely a consistent place for some delicious juicy roasted chicken.

If you have a problem with delivery good luck because they will not answer the phone. They "do all [their] business online," so here I am.Edit: total time between order and delivery was ~2:45. Impossible to contact Purbird and cancel in all that time. That is not an exception. If YOU have a delivery issue you will also not be able to get ahold of them

Great food and service! Mac and cheese was delicious, chicken thigh had a great char. I got the "purbird sauce" with it as well which was sweet with a touch of spice.

Glorified late night drunk food without the late night cost. I really wanted to like this because Prospect Heights has that vibe for late nighters and people who want something satisfying without breaking the bank. Unfortunately, this was not meant to be for that clientele.Charging $2 for sauces that are completely unnecessary, and then upcharging for sides is asinine. I felt like everything I did was under a microscope, even down to asking for more water in the sweltering hot restaurant. From the container the food is served in, which reminded me of the days for which I ate my college meal plans, to the ridiculously small portions (despite the tasty chicken), there is plenty of room for improvement. The sides I got (Mac n cheese and broccoli) were good and plentiful, so no criticism from me there.Otherwise, until there is consistency all the way through, I will stay away.

Was overpriced and had a confusing menu. The chipotle sauce and the chicken had no flavor.

Roasted chicken beautiful crispy outside and juicy flavorful inside. Friendly and quickly prepared. Every bit as good as those have said

Over the years, we've occasionally ordered from Purbird, but I'm always taken aback by how pricey they are. In our latest order, we got a whole chicken with just a tiny bit of sauce, and the extra sauce cost $2.25! That feels excessive. Right after placing the order, we decided to get the extra sauce to ensure we had enough. Their voicemail mentions they don't answer calls and suggest emailing, but it takes about two days for them to respond. If a restaurant is going to charge premium prices for chicken and sides, they should really invest in better customer service, like answering the phone or checking emails more frequently.
