Tldr - for Cantonese food it's one of the better places. My requirement is quite high as I'm from Toronto where there are tons of Canto food places that on average I would say better than in NYC- portions are quite on the large side for some dishes so consider that before ordering - or consider a larger party- service was quite attentive. They would change our dishes quite frequently - highly recommend the giant oyster and veggies were pretty good. The tong sui red bean dessert was on point in terms of texture and thickness

I came here for their dim sum on Chinese New Year and it was surprisingly good! The place is packed so I would recommend coming slightly before noon to beat the crowd. They do dim sum a little differently where they will give you a menu and you can select which plate you would like to order, then they will bring the plate out to you. There are also servers that will come around with other plate options, you can choose to grab those plates as part of your order as well. This dim sum place is a little different where there is no cart that comes around. We went on one of the busiest times of the year, so the service wasn't as great as I'd expect (waited over 5 minutes for the bill). The ambiance is great though, not too loud.

It's been a few years since my last review, so I figured I'd write an update. I've been going to Ping's for years now and it is my go-to when I take dim sum newbies to Chinatown. In fact, I just took my sister-in-law and her family in November and my brother-in-law this month. I've never had an issue getting a table and they're always so nice here. They have menus with pictures of all the dishes, so even if you don't speak a lick of Chinese, you're going to be fine. The waiters all speak enough English to help anyone out if you're unsure about a dish. I had some dietary restrictions on my last visit - no shrimp or meat - and one of the waiters gave excellent veggie recommendations that the meat eaters at the table were happy with. All the dishes were fantastic. No complaints whatsoever. For 4 people, the bill was about $90 plus tip, which is a steal.

Came on a Sunday afternoon, it wasn't too busy and service was quick. The Peking duck was very good, as were the fried vegetables.Unfortunately, a few days later I saw they overcharged my card and gave themselves a larger tip. Be sure to take photos of your receipts!

We came here to celebrate Chinese New Year as a family a couple weeks ago and it was so good! I hadn't been here in years and it was as good as I remembered it. My family and I kept commenting on how good the food was the whole time. The staff and owner were all incredibly kind. Defintely will be back and will continue to recommend this spot to people.

Very busy since there was a lunar new year festival right outside. Probably waited 15 minutes so not bad. Definitely chaotic and confusing inside. The food was amazing. As a mostly pescatarian, I loved how many options there were. The seafood felt fresh. My favorite was the shrimp shumai, which had large, fresh chunks of shrimp. I enjoyed all of the dumplings though. The bean curd was also good!

Very busy on a weekend, waited approximately 20min before getting seated. Pings is a very nice sit down dim sum place. The interior is quite crowded, but that is to be expected! Service was good despite the business of the restaurant. No carts here - just order with a menu! We ordered a bunch of stuff, including the beef roll, shrimp dumpling, pork bun, turnip cake, siu mai, and more. The food was authentic and delicious, I kept wanting to order more! The food was a bit oily, but definitely not the most oily dimsum I've had in Chinatown. This is a classic chinatown spot (although not my favorite), so I would definitely recommend for a weekend brunch, just be prepared to wait a bit!

We stopped by Ping's without a reservation for lunch on a Sunday. The spot is massive, with many tables both on their main floor and downstairs. The menu was huge and all the items, with a couple exceptions, were $5.95. The portions were pretty good and everything was yummy! My favorites were the black pepper ribs with pineapple, the egg tarts, and baked bbq buns.

Stopped by Ping's for a family dinner and had a pretty good overall time! The fried appetizers were fresh including crunchy squid and ribs which were both nicely seasoned. The shrimp with broccoli were fresh and juicy. Steak and asparagus featured tender pieces of meat and well-cooked veggies. The lobster with noodles were also solid. Loved how the noodles included the shrimp roe which made it even more flavorful/umami. I've heard that they are pricier than other similar restaurants but quality of food was good. Pacing of the food was a little fast, even for NYC standards but staff were at least nice and helpful. Although nothing really wow'd me, but on average all the dishes I tried were were well executed!

Memorable experience for dinner at Ping's for a party of 6. We had delicious food served family style. The staff offered suggestions and the dishes were excellent especially the crispy skin chicken and the ginger and scallion lobster. The serving staff was very attentive and helpful. We would definitely return to Ping's - great food and great service.
