Some days you just want a French onion soup. I regularly have such days, and after a few trials at local West Village French restaurants, I happened upon Petite Boucherie. I have eaten at its bigger brother for a few meals and have always been impressed, but this location specifically has all of the French charm and service that one could imagine. It's adorably located, sitting on a corner offering a sweet street view and soft lighting inside. For a busy night I'd probably want a reservation, but walking in worked for me midday. The staff was attentive and allowed me to enjoy my time and space, but I never had an empty glass or finished plate on my table for long. Dessert here is phenomenal too. Don't miss your chance for a sweet treat! Will absolutely be back.

On a recent trip to NYC, we were looking specifically for a French restaurant that was casual enough to have lunch comfortably in but fancy enough to feel like we were being treated. We really lucked out with our choice of Petite Boucherie. We arrived late afternoon at the end of lunch and were able to get a table without a reservation. It does seem best to make a reservation if you want to ensure you get a table as the restaurant is TINY. One benefit though was that it seemed to be without tourists, which was a huge plus for us.Our table was right near the door, and though it was a little cold, a space heater was running and kept us toasty. The restaurant was still decorated for Christmas with a small tree by the entry, and the ambience was quite nice. It as cozy, a little rustic (what a fabulous front door), but elegant. Our server was great and we felt that the pace of the meal was very French without being rushed out. My companions and I (one of whom is French), were quite pleased with our choice of meals. We didn't opt for the Pre-fixe lunch, but it looked like a good option just in case you're interested. We started with the mussels as a started which was a great choice. It was very flavorful with plenty of mussels to share. The crostini bread it was served with also had a great buttery flavor. I opted for the Nicoise Salad because I can't help myself when going to a French establishment. There is just something so delightful about this particular French salad, and it was no dissapointment. The tuna was cooked perfectly, and the dressing was pleasantly tangy. I was happy with the number of olives on my salad as well. There was no skimping here.My friends ordered the duck and steak frites. Both were happy with their choices. The steak cooked was cooked well and the duck looked extravagant...We couldn't pass up the opportunity for creme brulee for dessert and again, we were not disappointed. It was possibly one of the best I've had in a long time, perhaps ever. Even my French companion was pleased.Overall, a great experience. I would definitely come back in the future!

During the Winter, the Christmas/Holiday vibes here were super cute and inviting. While service was nothing amazing, the food was delicious and filling. We ordered:* Poulpe Grille - 9/10: we love a good grilled octopus and this was one was no exception, cooked well and was delicious* Les Escargots - 7/10: a little too oily for my taste but goes well with the house bread* Cotelettes d'Agneau - 8/10: delicious and juicy lamb chops, was a great entree

Came here on a rainy afternoon with a friend and we got the French onion soup and it was divine. They give you their fluffy homemade bread served warm to dip in the broth and it was so cheesy oniony, everything you want in French onion. Cannot wait to get it all again. Our server (with dark straight hair and a headband) was so sweet, too. Such a soothing place to hang, really feels Parisian. 5 stars!!!

Sunday night dinner at Petite Boucherie was exceptional. Ambiance - cozy and inviting for all sorts of intimate gatherings.Service - exceptional service. Food - we went to this restaurant mainly for the Bœuf Bourguignon. My son who fancies this traditional French dish gave it a perfect score for presentation and taste.I wish there were more salads & entrees options, but it is "Petite" Boucherie so not surprise.I strongly recommend reservation as it is a small and cozy restaurant with limited seats.

Excellent service and drinks at Boucherie! The ambiance is very small, but is cute as is it the original location. Due to the small place, the server/bartender was conversational and friendly. I would 100% come again. We had the Boucherie Sazerac, Lillet Rosé Spritz, Avion Sour for drinks and all were wonderful. We will be coming again.

Came here on Friday for lunch with some colleagues. The door leading in to the restaurant is beautiful and so is the interior. I love the big window looking out onto the very quaint street. However, the interior is pretty cramped. They tried to seat us at a table that is literally right next to the front door, but moved us after we asked. I ordered the L'Auvergnat and a lemonade. Beware that the lemonade is VERY bitter. I've never had anything like that and the waitress seemed annoyed that I didn't like it. She wasn't very friendly, and was borderline rude to us, so I shouldn't have been surprised. The sandwich was good but too "bready." I had to take the top layer of bread off in order to enjoy it. We got an order of fries for the table and they were really good. They season them with salt and black pepper and you could really taste the black pepper. So yummy. The prices here are what you'd expected for this area (i.e., overpriced). Not sure I'll return.
