If you're a fan of Sichuan cuisine, you need to know about 青花椒 (Sichuan peppercorn). This unique spice is essential in Sichuan cooking, offering a numbing heat and citrusy aroma that creates a bold, tingling sensation with a sweet aftertaste--defining the region's signature flavors. Sichuan cuisine is about more than just "spicy"--it's about the balance of spiciness and fragrance. While many people associate it with extreme heat, it's not just about being ridiculously spicy like other similar restaurants. If you're expecting food loaded with MSG and a straightforward, overpowering spice, without the layers and depth of flavor that define Sichuan food, this restaurant might not be for you and you won't be able to appreciate its offering. Peppercorn Station is hands down the best place in Manhattan to experience the full power of peppercorn in dishes. Their signature dishes are authentic and incredibly delicious, and even the desserts are top-notch. Here are some must-try items:Sliced Beef and Ox Tongue in chili Sauce 夫妻肺片Mouth watering chicken with chili sauce 口水雞Sliced pork belly with garlic chili sauce 蒜泥白肉Hot and sour Glass noodles 酸辣粉Mala Whole fish 青花椒跳水魚Sweet and sour whole fish 鮮果糖醋魚They use sea bass for whole fish fishes, the fish is always fresh. The staff takes great care of everyone, from elders to kids, making sure everyone feels at home. Whether it's offering great recommendations, accommodating special requests, or just creating a welcoming vibe, they go the extra mile to make sure everyone has a great experience. It's this kind of thoughtful service that makes dining there so enjoyable for the whole family.

I think Szechuan food can be very hit or miss. We've had some good tries and some places that are too spicy for the sake of being spicy. So I'm always nervous...but this place hit the spot. There's a reason the sliced pork belly with chili sauce is pictured on the menu. Aesthetically beautiful and ultimately such a great bite. Slices of pork with a cucumber inside to be smothered in a delicious chili sauce. Could have eaten this dish ten times over. We also got the peppercorn beef, which was a last minute choice as this wasn't on the menu we had seen online. The beef was great and plentiful. The soup itself...the restaurant is called peppercorn for a reason. It's super numbingly spicy. Other dish we got was the crab meat sauce. I didn't care as much for this. I didn't realize the crab meat would be mostly pureed into the sauce and that the main draw would be the tofu. It was probably technically well done but not my favorite dish. Finally, the truffle cauliflower was a dish I was always going to enjoy, and it lived up to my expectations. Super truffly, perfectly crispy. Such a delicious bite.We made a reservation but for Sunday lunch there were plenty of tables. Quick service. Absolutely worth stopping in.

Biiiig fan of Sichuan food! My gf and I split two dishes here, and one was really bad and one was amazing. Honestly it was confusing how a restaurant could have both a dish so bad and a dish so good. The bad dish: the crab sauce with rice. The crab sauce was extremely fishy and aside from that unpleasant flavor, very bland. That was the first dish that came to us so we were quite nervous about receiving our other dish that was also fish based: the "fish filet with pickled cabbage" which is basically a stew. We were VERY pleasantly surprised that it was not only not fishy at all, it was phenomenal!! The broth knocked my socks off and the fish was melt-in-your-mouth great. It definitely had a very strong spice kick to it but in the best way. Soooo flavorful omg. Still thinking about that broth. It's also a huge portion (def to be shared) and you got your money's worth of fish in it. Moral of the story: you might get a not-so-great dish or you might get an amazing dish lol

Ordered pickup directly from their site. They have a lunch special which is nice. Your entree comes with a drink and a pickled daikon side. I picked the mapo tofu and a side of clear noodles with chili oil. Really enjoyed the mapo tofu (packed with flavor and spicy) but the clear noodles with chili oil was a bit salty for me. During lunch time, there were only a few people dining in but plenty of bags to be picked up. My food was ready based on my set scheduled time. Would def order from there again when I'm in the office and craving Szechuan food.

Loved this szcheuan restaurant! It is smaller than the other popular spots but the food is just as delicious. It was easy to get a reservation for a large group of people. Service was extremely fast, our food arrived within 10 minutes of ordering. Highly recommend!!

My boyfriend and I were looking for some good szechuan food and decided to try this place. There were some great things and not so great things here. We ordered a bunch because there was a lot we wanted to try.For the appetizers, we did the Sliced Pork Belly with Garlic Chili Sauce, Steamed Chicken with Chili Sauce and Pepper Garlic Cabbage. For the mains, we got the Fish Fillet with Pickled Cabbage and Dried Chili Fried Chicken Plate. The servings overall are quite generous here. There were a lot of really delicious flavors but the quality wasn't quite there. The sliced pork belly sauce was amazing on rice. The steamed chicken was quite dry and definitely not one of their top dishes. The fish fillet flavor was good but the fish was not as soft/tender as a lot of other places I've tried. The fried chicken flavor was great and they do not skimp out on the chicken. Overall, probably won't come back here given the number of amazing szechuan places there are but if you do come, there are a few dishes worth trying.

Peppercorn Station was an experience. The restaurant is always busy and the staff are always working to keep your water glass full, cause you will need lots of it.We shared the Dry Chili Fried Chicken Plate and the Assorted Pea Noodles. The Chili Chicken was beyond spicy. My entire mouth, including lips, were numb. However, it was an inviting level of spiciness and the slight tinge of relief came from the noodles. If you're looking for good Szechaun food, come to the Peppercorn Station. You will enjoy this cuisine..... but prepare your palate for some five alarm excitement.
