We thought the Tesla theme was very cool and the drinks were very special and unique (though definitely on the pricier side).Went on a Wednesday night and had no wait!

Came here on a Thursday night. My friend suggested this spot and after checking out the google reviews, I was looking forward to it. I actually couldn't find it, even though I had google maps out... luckily my friend spotted me. It's a coffee shop that looks closed so no body would know just by looking from outside. Speakeasy spot When you enter a host seats you. Luckily we didn't have to wait long and were seated in a lounge chair in small bar room. Our table was like a small night stand stool, this place is not meant for long stays and I believe there is a 90 minute limit? I get it, the vibes has a very chill atmosphere and ppl r waiting to get seated. Ended up getting the a couple cocktails. They were all good and unique especially the Made from memory ($21). Also got the olives and cheese ($18) which is a charcuterie board with various cheeses that I really enjoyed especially the Brie. I would recommend this spot if you want to get a nice drink to catch up with friends or date night. I do want to mention probably not the best place to grab a bite if you're seated on the lounge chairs, table is small and low so not ideal. * Good service * Drinks are $20 +

Coffee shop by day, speakeasy by night. My group of 5 spontaneously decided to come to Patent Pending one night and were lucky enough to be seated within 30 minutes. If you can, I would recommend making a reservation. I love the ambiance of the place. It's romantic, electrifying, and lively. Their drinks are beautiful and well crafted. I got to try their winter menu. From their offerings, I recommend Strange Magic and Made from Memory. The latter is served warm and could easily be enjoyed in front of a fireplace. Be sure to double check your bill at the end. A drink was mistakenly added to our bill and I didn't catch it until the next day. I called a few times over a few days and could not get someone on the phone.

This is such a cool speakeasy within a coffee shop. During the day it is a coffee shop, but starting at 5 PM becomes a speakeasy. Don't be fooled by the appearance of a closed shop. This place is great for friends or an intimate date. It's surprisingly large and has a diverse drink menu. They will also accommodate for non-alcoholic beverages. Watch out for the prices because there are some drinks that are quite pricey!

I've had my eye on this bar for awhile and was very excited to visit. Now, this place is the modern day definition of speakeasy because I embarrasingly walked past the location probably 5 times before I finally found the entrance. After we finally got inside, our party of 3 was seated at a booth. They have 2 sections to the place - one main section with booths and bar seating (and VERY dimly lit), and another section that is a separate room with tables. The separate room was more brightly lit. We sat at a booth in the main section of the bar - I would say a party of 4 will fit in the booth but it'll be pretty cozy seating. The menu of this place was amazing and the variety of drinks was awesome. I cannot recall which drinks we got but we got a variety with a range of flavor profiles and spirit fowardness. The drinks were all very balanced (in their appropriate ways) and so delicious. I would definitely recommend this place for a cozy date! (probably not for larger parties)

Coz midtown speakeasy with creative drinks! We waited a little bit with a group of 7 since we didn't put in a res, but was able to get a nice sized booth. I got the AC/DC, which was decently strong and tasted great. The bar itself is kind of narrow and can get a bit loud, but it wasn't hard to carry a conversation with my party. There are booths and a bar area, which makes it ideal for a small group of friends or for a date night. The dark and intimate ambience also adds to the experience. If you don't mind waiting for a bit to get in, would definitely recommend this bar! Good drinks, friendly service, and cozy ambience makes for a great experience here.

I've wanted to come to Patent Pending for a long time. Finally stopped by on a Tuesday evening. They do not take reservations unless you want to do a $114 per person prix fixe. We stopped by around 5:30PM, they open at 5pm.They say there's a 90 min max for seating. Not sure how strictly that is enforced. We stayed about an hour and it was not busy.Patent Pending is hidden behind a coffee shop by the same name. It's easy to miss the entrance as the signage is small and I believe there is also scaffolding in front of the building right now. There's a handful of steps you need to use to get down into the space. Unsure if an accessible entrance is available. Once inside, you wait at the front to be seated. There is no coat check that I noticed. The host will take you through a door leading to the speakeasy bar. The speakeasy was larger than I thought. The initial bar space has a beautiful bar and several booths, but if you turn the corner, you go into another larger room, that has a second bar and a few more seats. There are two individual bathrooms and a common area sink to use outside of the bathrooms. We were sat in the second room (I believe they refer to this as the lab?)For some reason, we were only given 1 menu for two people. 1 regular menu and 1 seasonal specials menu. The menu is intricate in and of itself. I believe they may sell copies of this as well. Very beautiful, bound menu with purposely ripped pages and a lot of history on the building and Nikola Tesla inside. My boyfriend had the Hit me with a Taxi drink and I had the Strange Magic. Strange Magic was recommended to me as I wanted something sweet. This did the job. Very light, and sweet as promised. I liked this drink very much. The Hit Me with a Taxi was similar to a Manhattan per my boyfriend. We shared deviled eggs, cheese and olive plate and grilled cheese/tomato soup. All the food was very good! I wanted crème brûlée but opted out when I realized I had leftover cake waiting for me at home (#adulting). The decor is truly stunning in here. There's a lot of nooks and crannies spread about with various books and objects. It's an intimate bar and the sound level was not too loud either. The drinks here are priced higher than average. Many drinks are over $30 and all mocktails are $20. Given the higher than average drink prices, I expected more service wise. I do not think the host or the servers were especially warm or attentive. I observed many of them having personal conversations at the bar and complaining. The table next to us waited about 20 minutes to get their drinks after they ordered them. We gratefully did not wait that long, but it is easy to see here how service can go south quickly. Given the caliber of the bar in decor and pricing, I expected more attentive and friendly service, akin to what you get at Bathtub Gin or Apotheke for example. The service in those places is really on the mark.I'd come back here simply because it's a beautiful space with interesting cocktails. The service issue can easily be fixed with better management and training.

Solid place if you're into cocktails and a speakeasy vibe. This place is down a flight of stairs and a long hallway. There is another bar in the back, which is where we were seated. Get there early as it fills up fast! The cocktail menu is a book with "handwritten" cocktails and illustrations to accompany them. We tried the core 4 they offer and they were all delicious. Their ice cubes are even branded with their logo! Service is also fast and if a mixologist doesn't like how something was made - they will make it again. For a neighborhood that tends to be a huge bore this place really turns things around.

The ambiance is generally nice but the experience was just alright as far as the cocktails go. Maybe I'll have to give it another try!

I've been going to Patent Pending for years, and it's still one of my favorite spots. This speakeasy is hidden behind a coffee shop, and it's a total gem. The staff is always great, and now they take reservations! My partner and I stopped by around 11 pm for a couple of cocktails. We had to wait about 30 minutes, but the guy managing the queue was super nice and offered us drinks while we waited. I tried the free spiked hot chocolate sampler, and it was delicious!Once we were seated at the bar, our bartender Max took great care of us. We ordered four cocktails Radio waves, Made from memory (warm)Odd love , The mars horizon (warm) , and each one was amazing. I also got the deviled eggs, which were really good.I'll keep coming back to Patent Pending, and I'll definitely bring friends and family. They also seem to host private parties, which is a nice bonus. Five stars, no question!
