A six diner meal in an upstairs corner round table, pre theater. First, they were efficient, u estranging we had time and no moreSecond, they were *energetic*. A lead server with a charismatic warm personality of a longstanding pro who had not become tired or jaded in the job. He was great. Recommended dishes--all were a hit-- made us feel, welcome, chatted and felt unrushed, thought he had miles to cover.Thirdly, yes, the food. Hearty italian dishes prepared with subtleties. Just excellent.

Great service.Okay food.Small portions.I started with the grilled vegetables and had some caprise as well. They were good, on par with other restaurants. For the main meal, I got the salmon. Salmon tasted good but the sautéed spinach was quite oily and I could not eat it. For dessert, I got the chocolate cake. The chocolate cake was the best I have had. Quite good.For me the ambience was very poor, however . We were seated upstairs in the corner and I faced the wall and sat next to a closed door. Not the way I thought I would spend my evening before the theater!

Great location! Great service! Greeted by host and sat me down right away and then when my daughter arrived he directed her right to me. Waiter was awesome. He asked what time our show was to make sure we were served and out but we had plenty of time. He answered all our questions. From the outside it looks small but when you go in it is surprisingly large and packs in a lot of tables. The menu was diverse - Italian food. From cold apps to hot apps, cheeses, salads, pastas, seafood, meats and even pizza options. Lots of options. I would definitely go back!!! It's perfect for a pre-theatre meal.

We called this restaurant after our first choice was booked all night. The front desk was friendly and welcomed us in.The restaurant has an authentic feel. The bread was delicious and served with olive oil. We started with the burrata cheese and calamari. The burrata cheese is served with beets and tasted fresh, and the calamari and shrimp were served with a scrumptious sauce.I ordered the Paccheri ai Frutti di Mare which had a nice sauce and a healthy serving of seafood. My wife ordered the shrimp risotto, and was one of the best we ever had. The lasagna was delicious, and the sautéed mushrooms were cooked well.The place was a great choice and a convenient spot for anyone visiting Time Square.

Well, this restaurant been around for 36 years and I finally got an opportunity to try it. I pass it many times why I didn't go. I'm not sure but I'm glad I went this time. We had the bread basket complementary delicious with olives and breadsticks and olive oil. We had the special salad fry artichokes which was really good little pricey, but good. I had the salmon came with spinach and potatoes which I enjoyed and we also had one of the pasta, Lamb Bolognese which was very good we had the apple upside down cake for a birthday celebration. The waiter was excellent. I will definitely be coming back.

We had a party of 5 and reservations. We were seated immediately and they were nice enough to put us at a table where we had a 6 join us for apps. Seated upstairs we had plenty of room and the place was a nice. Bruschetta was ok but what we really can for was the pasta and that was great , from the spinach ravioli to the tagliatelle bolognese to the risotto special, you couldn't have found better in the city. Our waiter was awesome , asking when our play was so we were out on time to always checking in to see what we need. Dessert was gelato and apple tart which the group liked.All in all we would definitely go back.

They accommodated my walk in request for a same day dinner reservation, in Times Square, the day of the Tree Lighting. So..bonus points. Pulpo was outstanding. Pasta dishes were solid. Veal Shank was very good. Place is bigger than it appears from the outside. Upstairs tables are nice but the room is hard for the waitstaff to navigate. Nice Holiday vibe. I'd return.

We came at 9:45pm on a Wednesday night after a show. There were maybe 3 other tables eating dinner, we had the whole place to ourselves. I was worried that after a long shift, the waitstaff would be grouchy and rush us along, not even close. They were welcoming and very attentive. The photos don't do our dinners justice. I had the spinach and ricotta ravioli. The butter sage sauce was wonderful. Not too salty and not oily, just perfectly balanced. The raviolis were tender and filled with delicious spinach filling. You get a basket of bread with you meal which I used to sop up any butter sauce leftover. My date had the Paccheri (wide ziti) with seafood. It had a really amazing tomato-based sauce. I mean this sauce was so good I was wishing it was a stand alone soup dish! Again the bread on the table came in handy. Our waiter, Jamie, didn't miss a beat filling glasses and getting drink orders. We had the lemon tart which wasn't my fave even though it had a cool crème brûlée topping. I won't hold it against them. I'd like to try the tiramisu or the flourless chocolate lava cake next time. And there will be a next time!

Osteria al Doge is one of my favorite NYC restaurants. It has two floors, very nice decor, exceptional service, and.....of course..... a-m-a-z-i-n-g food. Our two entrees were incredible.....Ravioli di Ricotta e Spinaci (homemade ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta cheese, in a butter sage sauce) was so soft, flavorful, and the remaining butter sage sauce was elegantly sponged up with the complimentary buttery bread. The Pollo al Limone (marinated chicken breast with sautéed zucchini and parsley roasted potatoes in a lemon sauce) came with two well seasoned pieces of chicken and I enjoyed how they cut up the zucchini into thin strips, which made it easier to eat. For dessert, we shared the Tortino al Cioccolato (gluten free chocolate cake with moist melting heart and Tahitian vanilla gelato). This was one of the best desserts I've ever had. The cake was M.O.I.S.T., the edges had the ideal crunchiness, and the gelato complemented each bite to complete enjoyment. Please, TRY IT!The Double Espresso, with a side of milk, was the perfect cap to this memorable meal. I cannot recommend Osteria al Doge enough. Come in, in order to be treated like royalty and enjoy a fine meal. Oh, don't forget to make reservations.

The staff here always make you feel so welcome. Then the food tells the whole story. I feel almost as though dining in a family home in Italy. Good, rounded menu selections always delicious. Though I am always amused by those diners who appear concerned by the non red sauce offerings. Though good, I go for the Italian mainstays with other preparations and saucing.
