Gorgeous Victorian style bar, built in 1909. An ode to one of the greatest poets of all time, Oscar Wilde is a well preserved piece of New York City history. The interior is beautiful all year round, but are known for their over the top holiday decor during festive season. If you plan to come here in November or December, make a reservation. My friends and I got lucky and were able to walk in without one a week before Christmas, but only because we waited 40 minutes in the freezing cold and rain. Fortunately, it was worth it. The holiday decor was truly unhinged, in the best possible way. Hundreds of thousands of ornaments, light fixtures, tinsel, and Christmas trees cover every inch of the relatively large space. With much effort, we managed to find 4 seats at the bar.Despite the chaos, the staff were genuinely friendly. My friends opted for dirty martinis, which were well made, and I got their seasonal "Christmas Wrapping", which featured Kings County Coffee Whiskey, spiced apple, Turkish tobacco, and lime. I did not expect lit marshmallows on top, but the drink was delicious and deceptively strong. A place this photogenic and touristy could easily get away with having terrible and overpriced food, but they don't. We ordered a Hummus Plate, Truffle Arancini, and Buffalo Cauliflower, all of which were delicious, and reasonably priced. Expectations exceeded in every way.

The tea here is not good. $60 a person for a tower that had obviously been sitting out for quite some time. All the bread is stale - the cucumbers in the sandwich were jiggly. The dessert cup crusts were maybe made of out play doh. You get one pot of water and only one tea bag and it's $5 for an additional bag. Decor is obviously amazing but skip the tea, for sure.Edit: pretty sure have food poisoning. Don't eat egg salad and smoked salmon sandwiches that have been sitting out for unknown amounts of time

the place is cool but maybe the worst cosmo I've ever had guy next to me also told the bartender his espresso martini was "horrible"Interior is so fun though. Would give it another try with a different bartender, or just go for ambiance and drink somewhere else

I came here one night to enjoy a glass of wine while visiting NYC for a few shorts days. It so happened to be Lunar New Year. So there was an awesome atmosphere and celebration done by the staff. I enjoyed two glasses of wine from the bar. Which were delightful. I enjoyed the music selection & also, I loved the aesthetics of the establishment. There were quotes on the screen from Oscar Wilde that I found to be very interesting. I also loved the "keep calm" note in the bathroom. It was very entertaining. Very chill place to go and get a drink or a bite to eat. I hope to return next time I'm in town.

Went here for lunch after a very special occasion. The ambiance of this place is incredible - All old Victorian style architecture with little poetry & quotes all over the place, not to mention the entirety of the bar area(s) were so picturesque .. this was exactly what we were looking for - the pictures can't even do this place justice. For drinks, we ordered the Siouxsie Sioux, Only Fans, & Gutters & Stars - & we ended the meal with Espresso Martini's & a cappuccino - all of which were so aesthetically pleasing, & not to mention, tasty. As appetizers we ordered the buffalo cauliflower (which was hands down the BEST I've ever had!) & a Caesar salad (which was huge!) & for Lunch we had the shepherd's pie & the Wilde waygu bacon cheeseburger which were both absolutely DELICIOUS!Our server also noticed that we were celebrating something special & gave us a round of drinks to celebrate. Phenomenal service - we will definitely be frequenting any time we are in the city!

Ambiance: came here in October. For Halloween the decorations are amazing. Different parts of the restaurant have different themes. Very cool. Food: i ordered a burger and fries , basic meal. Food was good. No complaints. Service: our waitress was terrible. She took forever to bring us water, to take our order; to basically ask for anything it was a long wait. We finished eating and sat for more than half hour with the dirty plates on our table, had to call the manager to clear our table and for the bill. Our server was terrible. While the tables near us had another server, he was so attentive and clears up the tables quick. Wish we had him as our server.

Had a great first experience at this bar. Didn't get food, just drinks. Walked up to the bar and was served quickly, even with the place being very packed. I ordered Only Fans and my cousin got sangria. Both were fantastic. Mine had a delicious lemon chocolate on top! Fantastic. Would come back again. The decor inside for the holidays is picture worthy. Makes you feel like you're in a Christmas movie!

The ambiance is always amazing at this bar and is a five plus. The changing themes as the year progresses are always fun (or scary at Halloween) to look at and admire as you eat or drink. The staff was friendly and the service was good. The appetizers of the beet salad, burrata and hummus platter were all good. The salmon, sandwitches, truffle gnocchi, and lobster roll were all just okay. You are there for the ambiance and cool seasonal drinks.

I really don't remember what we got. I only remember the mussels and the octopus, both were really good. This is an interesting restaurant with very old-style, Victorian decor. I would return just for that haha. Service was quick, friendly, and efficient. And they didn't rush us. Overall I'd like to return again.

11/14/24: We stopped in Oscar Wilde's around 4:30 PM for a cocktail and light bite. We sat at the bar and were served our choice of water immediately.-Cocktails: We started out with a "Lost in Love" ($17) and a Stella Artois. The drinks took a while to come out. However, my cocktail was totally worth the wait. It was absolutely delicious and not overly sweet. In fact, I think it's the best cocktail I ever had! It was made with a perfect blend of Drakes Organic Vodka, Giffard Peche, Strawberry Campari, Lemon & Sugar. -Food: We shared a tasty Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich, plus a yummy pickle. The sandwich came out quickly after the order. -Ambiance: Oscar Wilde's is like traveling back in time. The entire bar/restaurant from top to bottom is completely decorated with beautiful stained glass windows, fancy chandeliers, ornate lamps etc.... ( I wouldn't want to have the job dusting here! LOL...)Of course, there were plenty of pictures of the man himself, even in the restroom. Loved the pulsating music in the background too! I think this place could definitely use more bartenders. Unless, we just came on a shift change?Oscar Wilde is located at 45 West 27th St. NYC, NY.
