ONGI is one of our favorite places to eat in the city. They offer a variety of options, whether you want to choose from their pre-set bowls or create your own custom bowl. I always create mine with Bulgogi and Grilled Salmon, which is always a great combination. They offer five base options, including salad, rice, and noodles (you can choose 2), and you can choose up to two proteins for a regular bowl or three for a large bowl. The best part? You can load up on as many toppings as you'd like--I always go for everything! For the sauce, I highly recommend their black sesame aioli and soy garlic sauce. They're both incredibly flavorful and really elevate the dish. Highly recommend ONGI for anyone looking for a delicious, customizable meal!

Coworker wanted to check out this place since it was close to the office. It reminds me of Korean-styled Chipotle (and similar to Sopo). Ordered for pick up directly from their website. I got the large custom bowl that came with 3 proteins (spicy jeyuk pork, crispy chicken, and bulgogi) and added half super greens and half sweet potato japchae. You can select unlimited toppings and come with two sauces (I picked wasabi aioli and ssamjang aioli). The portion size is big and was definitely full after eating half the bowl. I also got pork dumplings that weren't bad but not the best. It's a great option for a quick hearty meal. I'd def be back to have it again for lunch.

Oh a build your own bowl fast casual spot in midtown? How original! The idea has been beaten to death obviously but Ongi is pretty decent. Custom bowls start at $13.95 for a "small" and I think are $15.95 for a "large". The large comes with an additional protein choice (3 instead of 2).For bases, I got half japchae and half white rice, both of which were tasty. Rice was cooked well. I like that even with the small you can get two different proteins - I opted for the beef bulgogi and the spicy pork and strongly preferred the latter. Bulgogi was just okay. Toppings are unlimited and are the standard fare: pickled veg, lettuce, carrots, etc. The sauce choices were interesting and I was bummed that you're limited to one (extras are $1 each which seems excessive). I got the sesame aioli which was good but heavy. I was glad I got it on the side.Probably wouldn't rush back but I would add it to the lunch rotation.

I'm a huge fan of the built-your-own bowl approach, and an even bigger fan of Korean food, so it was a no brainer to try Ongi when it popped up on my radar. You can either opt for one of their signature bowls, or create a custom bowl (base, protein, sauce and toppings), in either a medium (24 oz) or large (32 oz) size. The sauces are homemade and there is a good variety of them. Toppings are unlimited except for the premium ones that have an additional cost (poached egg, avocado, kimchi). The bulgogi beef bowl is pretty good but my custom shrimp bowl is amazing! As are the spicy sauces. The shrimp are large and flavorful. And the brown rice - omg, best I've ever eaten - so soft and chewy, not at all the hard texture one usually expects of brown rice. I also had the fried chicken nuggets (similar to karaage) - the portion is very generous and the chicken tastes good, but I wish it were more crispy, and came with a dipping sauce or two. Ongi will definitely be part of my regular midtown lunch rotation.

Ongi is next level in variety, size and customizability. I enjoyed the gochujang sauce once more in tonight's custom bowl, but In an upgrade from last time I added kimchi and Korean peppers. The flavor/convenience ratio is one of the best in town.

I'm really loving the whole vibe up here. The interior of this fast, casual restaurant is spacious, nicely laid out, clean, modern, and attractive looking. There's a water station with cucumber water near the pickup counter. And I really liked their system of ordering on the laminated menus with dry erase markers. So convenient and I loved the green aspect. I had the whole place to myself when I went after work the other day. I got the Medium Custom Bowl ($12.95) with Beef Bulgogi, various toppings including the poached egg (extra $1.50) and the Soy Garlic sauce. All the ingredients are displayed so nicely and safely behind glass in large containers. I watched them make my bowl, picked up my meal, got some cucumber water and sat down all within minutes of entering. Everything felt so efficient. And it was a really yummy bowl. The bulgogi had good flavor and texture. I liked that the soy garlic sauce wasn't too overwhelmingly sweet, and the minced pickled radishes really brightened the dish. The medium bowl was also just the right amount of food--had no leftovers.I wish they had something like this near my work. Will definitely be back.

The service was excellent and quick! Nice space with seating. It's delicious Korean bowl chitpole style; pick your base then protein and finally toppings and sauce. They have a large variety of protein which I like. I played myself thinking the "jerk" was going to be Caribbean style it wasn't lol! But it was still delicious and tender. Overall very enjoyable I will be back!!

I usually really enjoy Ongi but I did not have a good experience here today. I ordered on Grubhub and I indicated some preferences in the instructions, which I wanted to change so u called the store. The person I spoke to said they couldn't accommodate my preference (even though I've done it several times before). He was also pretty rude about it. When I came to the store, I was fortunately able to speak with another employee and hash it out. She gladly made the fix for me and told me to just specify online next time. I did notice however that they had also messed up the order. I ordered the wasabi shrimp with an extra side of sesame aioli. They only packed the sesame aioli and no wasabi sauce. I'm glad I opened the bag to notice. That's the whole reason I ordered it! The shrimp portion was also pretty light for an "extra" portion and more concerning, it felt like it wasn't fresh. It was chewy like it had been refrozen or sitting out. Overall, disappointing experience.
