A beautiful, modern interior that is welcoming the moment you step into the place. I went for a Sunday lunch and they offer a short menu of just 4 main dishes: roasted fish, eel over rice, chirashi or shoyu ramen.I got the shoyu ramen fitting for the cold weather. The fish+chicken bone broth is delicious, with richness from the fish and the chicken broth helps to give some sweetness and enhance texture. The tuna belly chashu is just so fitting for this fish broth. The marinated boiled egg is a little bit sour than typical which likely comes from the vinegar in the marinate, but doesn't affect the overall taste of the ramen bowl. I might be more of a tonkotsu person usually - but once in a while we all want to try different things and this is definitely a go-to for fish broth ramen. It is also pretty decently priced at $18 (+2.5 for the egg) given the ambiance and quality of the food. Definitely would recommend this place!

I've never been a die-hard fan of Japanese Breakfast (the band), but I have always loved Japanese breakfast (the food). The ones I remember were more casual on the back-alleys near Shinjuku, with tomago gohan - that amazing simple pairing of steaming hot rice and a raw egg - as the centerpiece.Okonomi's rendition is a far more formal affair that bears some stylistic resemblance to onsen cooking, or even temple food. But vegetarians be warned, there are no vegetarian options here - I turned a blind eye to the use of bonito in order to partake in the side dishes, but no other accommodations are available. The tamagoyaki was fine, but the other vegetable sides were pretty unmemorable, and the rice was a bit cold. The miso soup was good. I'm assuming I missed out on some of the experience without tasting the fish, so rounding up to 3 stars.

We were able to walk in on a weekend and be seated immediately. This was in December shortly after they opened in Manhattan, so I'm not sure if it's still true. The restaurant had plenty of seating, with a large communal table in the center. We ordered the unadon set and the yakizakana (roasted fish) set. There are different types of fish and our waiter recommended the salmon. We also both got 5 sides (gosai). Although the sides are small, the meal was actually decently filling. The sides were okay, but none of them were that special. The salmon was good, but the portion was small. We both liked the unadon more than the salmon. I was really excited to try this place, and I would say that it was good, but not my favorite japanese set in the city. I do want to come back to try the ramen though. The service was great, and I appreciated that they served free hot tea.

I have a soft spot for Japanese breakfasts and was so happy when they decided to open in Manhattan. Pricier, yes, but everything tasted so good and looked beautiful. Service was attentive and it was toddler friendly enough. We got the yakizakana set with roasted fish and sides, the unadon (lovely grilled eel), and the okonomi shoyu ramen, which was very flavorful. I think I wanted uni but they were out.

Food: 4/5- i had high expectations as the menu looked interesting but i didnt think it was worth around ~$30 for breakfast set. For ramen, the noodle was well-cooked and chewy but the broth was a bit too salty as well as the chicken toppingService: 5/5- the staffs were friendly and they checked in here and thereAmbiance: 4/5- think the ambiance at their Brooklyn location feels more "traditional Japanese home cook"There are so many excellent ramen places in Manhattan so overall unsure of their competitive advantage

Made a reservation for a Sunday lunch and absolutely loved! Interior is so cozy and has tons of beautiful wood tones. I got the Japanese breakfast set, which I loved! Everything was so fresh and the fish was delicious - skin was perfectly crisp. Definitely coming back next time to try their ramen.

The restaurant had such a cozy, homey feel to it. It was such a nice space to walk into during this cold winter season, and the food and service did not disappoint. I love hot teas lately especially with the cold weather, and it was nice that they served us complimentary hot hojicha, and gave our table a large pot to share. We ordered a fish set with 5 sides, bacon and spinach carbonara special, and ramen as our main dishes and each dish was made excellently. We ended our meal with the yuzu honey cheesecake and it was the perfect sweet treat to top it all off. Dining here was like receiving a warm hug after a long day, and I'd definitely recommend visiting.

Had a very cozy and comforting brunch here and thought it was great. The ramen broth is rich. The their breakfast carbonara was a good twist on the classic- I liked the umami that the bonito flakes added. The 5 sides that came with the fish were pretty unique and had a lot of textures/flavors. There were jellies, pickled veggies, normal veggies w/ mayo, and sweet potatoes. For dessert, we got the cheesecake with yuzu honey- which I absolutely loved

Clean, cozy, comfortable, and warm restaurant serving up wonderful Japanese set meals. everything tasted home made, of the highest quality, and was cooked to perfection. It was a clean, simple, delicious meal that was filling but not too heavy. The tea they serve was a wonderful touch. Would totally come back here, and don't stop the hojicha panna cotta at the end!
