The food here is SO good!! We ordered a Peking Duck Half as well as Jajangmyeon. Definitely the tastiest Peking Duck I've ever had because the meat was very juicy and tender. That's how you know the duck isn't too old. The portions are pretty big because we were pretty full by the time we got to the Jajangmyeon, which was also one of the tastiest jajanmyeon we've ever gotten! The noodles were nice and thick, and the ratio of onion and bean paste sauce was perfect. Plus, the ambiance was great. Very beautifully decorated restaurant. & service was very nice! Highly recommend this place.

another sunday, another restaurant in ktown. i actually walked past this restaurant the week prior and had been intrigued by the vibrant green exterior and so was very excited to visit. the interior of the restaurant is spacious and beautiful, and given the weather and the time of day, it was fairly quiet.the menu was extensive, and honestly, everything looked delicious. unfortunately, the lunch sets (which i really wanted because ~variety~) are not available on the weekends, but there is a brunch special on the weekend where you can either get jjajangmyeon for $11.95 or jjamppong for $14.95. it was a really difficult choice for me, but i ended up choosing the jjamppong since it was so cold out and something soupy was definitely warranted.for the price, the portion size is pretty good and the noodle soup includes a solid variety of seafood. the noodle texture was also cooked well and wasn't too soggy (which i always worry about when ordering noodles). the soup is pretty spicy (and i have a decent spice tolerance) so not sure how it might be to others who might not be able to handle spice as well. perhaps there's a way to ask them to reduce the heat? regardless, for a bowl of noodles that left us very full at that price is a great deal!i can't wait to come back next time with a larger group so that we can try more of the other dishes!

Great lunch deals, very spacious and nice decor. Food was just alright though. Jjajangmyeong sauce was decent, but would have preferred if they used pork belly instead of ground pork. Jjampong soup was a little gritty from the gochugaru - plenty of seafood. Good chew on both noodles though.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city! The Glazed Orange King Prawns and Chili Eggplant were the highlights--the prawns had the perfect crispy coating, and the eggplant was soft and packed with flavor. The BBQ Pork Neck & Ssam started off super tender and delicious but dried out a bit as it cooled. The Truffle Steak Jajangmyeon was a little bland, so I'd probably skip it next time. Also, the half duck set from a previous visit was incredible!

A recent addition to the Michelin Guide this Chinese Korean restaurant sits in the middle of Koreatown. Our small of group of 3 were seated right away at 5pm on a Friday, although the host seemed surprised that we didn't have a reservation. The restaurant definitely got busier as the night went on. The ambiance was very nice, definitely more of a classy vibe. Lots of aesthetic lighting and fancy dish sets. Great for special dinners. We ordered half peking duck set with jjajangmyeon, tangsuyuk, and garlic chicken. The tangsuyuk and garlic chicken were good. The jjajangmyeon was only okay for me. But the peking duck was definitely the star of the show. So soft and tender with incredible flavor. It's worth the visit for the duck alone. The service was also very good. Staff were consistently checking on us at various times and a manager even came and said hi to us. He even talked a bit about the food and the meticulous preparation of their peking duck. Would definitely come back, not just for the duck, but to try all the other dishes they have!

If you're craving Jajanymyeon, head over to Octo. Brunch is available on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30am-3pm, with two options only: Jajanymyeon $11.95 and Jjamppong $14.95. The lunch sets are only available Monday-Friday. The staff is very lovely, and the interior is pretty-it is worth checking out if you're near K-town.

I booked a reservation at Octo for my boyfriend's surprise birthday dinner. Leading up to the reservation, the staff was super accommodating and willing to entertain all of my requests, which I really appreciated! Our group of 7 got the Whole Duck Combo for 4-5. For our combo, we chose the Spicy Poached Dumpling, Truffle Siu Mai, Hot Garlic Chicken, Scorched Seafood Rice Pot, Jajangmyeon, and Mapo Tofu. Although we also ordered the Teppan Seafood Jajangmyeon, the combo honestly could have filled us all up--we ended up having a lot of leftovers. The quality of the food was so good! My favorites were the jajangmyeon, mapo tofu, and the scored seafood rice pot. Each dish came out piping hot and with lots of flavor and depth. And the duck... I can never resist peking duck. Although the price for the set menu is a bit steep for 4-5, the portions are so big that you should honestly consider ordering it for larger groups, because it makes it so much more worth it! Honestly, I am surprised that it was so easy to get a reservation for a large party here on such short notice. Although the restaurant is relatively big for NYC standards, the food was amazing and honestly deserves more hype. It's definitely a great place to go for large groups. They also have private rooms if you are interested in hosting an event. I will definitely be recommending this restaurant for friends who are visiting NYC in the future!

We were excited to try Octo based on Eater NY's strong recommendation. The dining room is nice, with adequate space between tables. The staff were very nice. One of the best things about this restaurant is that we weren't rushed. We couldn't resist trying lucky Buddha beer. We got the half Peking duck combination, which. Is a great deal and plenty of food for three people. The duck was excellent and beautifully presented. The spicy poached dumplings were excellent. The glazed orange king prawns were great. We were underwhelmed by the highly regarded jajanymyeon. The tangsuyuk was similarly uninspiring. We really enjoyed our meal here. If we returned and ordered the combo, we would try the hot garlic chicken and shrimp fried riceInstead. We're also very curious about the kimchi soup dumplings and the cumin pork back ribs.

Octo is a modernly chic take on Korean dishes, inspiring a synthesis of traditional tastes and contemporary styles. I loved Octo's sensational interior as it was clean, creative, and simple all at the same time. The tangsuyuk was a savory shared plate that pairs well with any main dish. If you're looking to elevate your dining experience, the steak jjajangmyeon, which included beef steak, egg, and truffle, is a tremendous option. The combination of these components highlighted the bean paste sauce and noodles in a way I had never imagined before. This was a well-thought out dish, because the added ingredients to the traditional black bean noodles did not take away the originality of the dish as a whole. The dining experience here at Octo is one of NYC Koreatown's best, and should be a must-visit to the city.
