I dined at OCabanon with two colleagues, and while it's a bit pricier than my usual spots, the experience was worth it for the thoughtful details. Conversation is just as important as good food, and OCabanon delivered. We could hear each other without shouting, and the tables were spaced just right--intimate enough to feel cozy but far enough apart to avoid overhearing the next table's drama. We started with wine and the country pâté. The pâté was fantastic--rich, flavorful, and paired with the freshest bread. The wine, though, felt like it could've used a bit more enthusiasm in the pour for the price (my reason for 4 vs 5 stars). For the mains, we had the salmon and risotto. The risotto stole the show, with just the right touch of truffle--enough to make it indulgent but not overwhelming. The salmon was beautifully cooked. If you're looking for a spot that balances great food, a comfortable slower atmosphere, and the ability to actually hold a conversation, Cabcabin is a solid choice. Just be prepared for the check--it's not a budget dinner, but it's one you'll remember.

Nice and authentic French restaurant. It was so nice to find a place which could offer home cooking and comfy food. As a starter, we shared a " pate de campagne " it was good and well paired with baguetteI had the "poulet façon Georges" and it was amazing : creamy mushroom sauce, green beans, carrots and potatoes, it was amazing ! I really felt home.Last but not least : the crème brûlée ! PerfectThe service was good, a bit long but we did not mind to take time to enjoy our bottle of wine.I recommend this place if you're looking for a real French experience

Great little French address and restaurant, which has a little "épicerie" attached to it, where one can buy all sorts of imported French goods (cornichons, cereal, cookies etc.). The waiter who served us was French. The vibe is casual, and the wine selection is extensive. The draft beer is also good. If you order bread with your salad, they sometimes will cook fresh bread just for you.A great address to host group events as well, as they have an upstairs space that holds a large group, and where you can host a private dinner event, or cocktail hour, or meeting. I will point out that they add a 3% credit card surcharge, so you may want to pay cash. They didn't tell me this before I paid my bill... wish I'd known. Will go back!

Gorgeous minimalistic restaurant but with a cozy feel. Typical french food - french onion soup, escargot, meats and cheeses- kind of pricey but definitely good quality. French onion soup was just ok, not mind blowing, I ordered a side salad which was actually delicious and generous portion - I scarfed it down. My first time having escargot, the sauce was excellent! Our waiter was nice, helpful and a little flirty and forward with one of my friends at the end of the meal.

This family-run French kitchen is located on 29th Street in Chelsea, nestled between 8th and 7th avenues. They specialize in serving traditional and beloved French dishes. The restaurant boasts a spacious and pristine atmosphere. I particularly appreciate their sporty vibe and modern design. Additionally, they have a shop next door that offers an array of French goodies.Taking advantage of the pleasant June weather, we opted to dine alfresco. To start, we indulged in a nice bottle of Chardonnay, accompanied by appetizers of Escargots de Bourgogne: French snails from Burgundy baked in blend of parsley, garlic, and butter, and Paté de Campagne Maison: a homemade country paté served with cornichons. Both dishes were complemented by warm, homemade bread. When we requested more bread, our waiter gladly obliged, earning them an extra star in our book. For our main course, we decided to share the Pâte au crevettes: fettuccine with a savory combination of butter, shrimp, and garlic, as well as the Poulet façon monsieur Georges: chicken breast marinated in thyme and rosemary, served with fingerling potatoes, string beans, and a creamy mushroom sauce. My partner found the chicken dish to be cooked to perfection. To conclude our meal, we indulged in the Cheesecake Maison: a homemade cheesecake served with a raspberry coulis. While we thoroughly enjoyed all the dishes we ordered, the standout feature of this dining experience was the exceptional customer service. We wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone seeking a memorable culinary experience.

The vibe is definitely different than I expected. It has more of a modern vibe, with high metal tables, instead of a more homey-French look. It was pretty empty on a Saturday night, so I wouldn't worry about having a reservation. Staff are very attentive. Escargot ($17) - probably about 6 pieces, already de-shelled. Tasted fantastic and a lot of butter. They gave us two baskets of fresh bread, still piping hot, which was a nice touch.Foie Gras ($25) - tasted good, with a decent amount of foie gras. Served with a small salad. Risotto ($28) - mushroom risotto with truffle oil, carrots, leeks, and Parmesan. This was overall pretty disappointing given the price point. Didn't taste much truffle and the leeks were a tad hard to chew. They were quite overwhelming. The huge chips of Parmesan on top were great though. Definitely on the pricier side, but the food tasted authentic. The menu is pretty small, so definitely make sure you know what you're going to get. Seems like they have daily specials that aren't on the menu as well.

The food was good, except for the dessert, but high-priced. I don't think we'd go back if we were in New York.

Lunch at OCabonon was one of my birthday restaurant outings. Laura & I had a grand time eating excellent French cuisine. The menu is quite limited in their offerings. We both had escargots sopping up the juices with pieces of bread. Laura chose the wild boar daube with mashed potatoes. I had the skate served also with mashed potatoes and sautéed multicolored. beans. We drank glasses of rose champagne. Crème brûlée was a dessert that we shared.Service here was pleasant. This restaurant means a shed in French and it looked liked one. On one side is also a boutique with everything from books, table linen, yogurts and tins of chocolate all from France. On the other side is a large room with rows of assorted wines. The unisex restroom has an old fashioned weighing machine more for decoration.

Our holiday party was catered by Ocabanon! They were delightful to work with and so responsive. They helped me develop the menu for a Parisian Gala theme. Staff said it was the best food we have ever had at one of our parties. Ooo la la--especially the mushroom chicken and mashed potatoes! They also delivered on time which was huge. Highly recommend them!
