I came here on recommendation from a co-worker with a few co-workers. They were able to seat us right away at dinner time. We each ordered a pasta dish and ordered a family size pizza to share. That pizza was the longest pizza that I gave ever seen, and it was cool because they were able to put a few types into what pizza, so we got to try a few different types of pizza. I think I ordered the Paccheri Alla Genovese (recommended by the waitress who I think is also the daughter of the owner). Everything was freshly made and delicious. If you are looking for authentic Italian cooking, this place is it.

Pizza so good, we returned the next day to try another. Day 1: margarita Day 2: rustica (sausage)Both were delicious. The dough is the stand out- we ate every bite - right down to the crust.Yes, this place is cash only. Your reward for bringing cash is a wine list filled with under $50 options. (In a neighborhood where $80 wine is the norm, this is amazing)

I came here for my 25th birthday dinner with a party of 7. I had went to the Upper East Side location previously with a friend, and absolutely loved it. Since we were a large group, I reserved a table in advance, and the waitress knew who we were and sat us right away. We ended up sharing a salad between three of us, and for the table, we got a Margherita pizza and a tartufo pizza. The 29 inch family size pizzas are perfect for large parties. The pizza itself is done perfectly. There are some pizza I've had where I eat everything but the crust, but with this, I ended up eating the entire thing, leaving nothing. It's thin and crisp, and also has the perfect amount of bubbles from cooking in the wood fired oven. There's something about wood fired pizza that hits different, and this place does it so well. If you're in the city and looking for a great pizza spot, look no further!

I had spaghettone alla pomodoro and polpetti di ricotta. The pasta had a nice al dente texture, and the tomato sauce combined with whole tomatoes tasted nice and fresh. The polpetti were perfectly crispy on the outside with a warm filling. The pasta was worth it, but the polpetti felt overpriced. The menu online shows prices that are about 25% less than what you'll pay in store, and the restaurant is cash only. It's a bit expensive ($160 for four people), but that's in line with most of the Italian places in West Village.

The Google listing for Numero 28 says the restaurant accepts cards and the website says nothing, but after sitting down the menu informs you that it's cash only. Would expect this for a $.99 slice place, but not for a chain restaurant with $40+ pizzas. Pretty crazy that they process online orders yet operate cash only. Okay, maybe not crazy, but an unwelcome inconvenience that wasted my time.

We were in the city for the day and had been looking to find an authentic New York City pizza experience. We had gone to a place, however the line was absolutely insane, and we happened to find this place nearby. When we walked in I could tell this wasn't your typical New York Pizza place and was more like an actual restaurant, but we were hungry and decided to go for it. We ordered their couples sized pizza with sausage. It came out and it was a rectangular pizza loaded with sausage. The pizza was delicious! Maybe not your typical New York pie, but it was delicious none the less. We asked if they had any garlic powder for the pie, which any self respecting pizza joint would have, but they said they didn't. That along with being a cash only joint cost a star in my opinion.

Must try: Numero 28 pizza. The name is very interesting. Flavor is good. Ordered Togo but still tastes good after oven reheat. The dough is crispy on the edges and soft inside. Totally my type. It's cheesy, not so salty, and balanced ingredients. I'm a pizza lover, this place is on one of my go to list. Service here is pretty awesome. The staff here hand us water promptly while we wait for our food, and frequent checkin to see if everything is ok. Busy, loud and happy environment. Pretty good experience. Spent $50+ for two people.
