The decor and atmosphere resembles ramen shops you'd find in Japan with Tori gates and a copy of a standing ramen shop. We came here for valentines and were happy all around. Loved all the intentional touches from the homemade ceramics to even the cozy bathroom. I got the niku udon and loved the broth and noodles. Also got a matcha latte and it was delicious! Quality was really felt in term of ingredients and really felt it in the price point. A little steep but can see this being a nice date spot. Can't wait to come back and try more of their udon!

The udon noodles had a great texture and were cooked perfectly. The soup bases were rich and flavorful, with well-developed layers of taste--clearly a lot of effort goes into them. The curry soup base, paired with a special cut of pork, was the best I've had and well worth the $27. The shrimp tempura udon was also excellent.I especially loved the variety of vegetable and root vegetable tempura, which included taro, sweet potato, mushroom, okra, and more. It's the most extensive tempura set I've seen in NYC at this price point. The only downside was the wait time. For a table of three, it took nearly 40 minutes from receiving our drinks to getting our food. This was at 1:30 PM when the restaurant wasn't particularly busy, but with only two chefs in the kitchen, the preparation process seemed slow.

Came here with a large party for a birthday and the seating arrangement was fine in the back of the restaurant. Service staff was friendly and efficient which is all you really need for a place like this.Unfortunately, the food was mediocre at best for the price point. What surprised me the most was that they didn't have basic niku udon, it's like they really don't want you to have soup with your noodles (which we had to order on the side). All the serving plates and bowls were adorable, since they were handmade by the kitchen stuff and were all different shapes and sizes. Noodles were also a bit too thin for my liking; I will have to continue my quest to find good udon in NYC.

This place is my go to when I don't know what to eat around atlantic. I personally love the tempura soup so much, it has a strong daikon flavor in the broth and ground daikon on top when it's served. If you're a fan of daikon flavor in fish broth, you should order it. The cold udon is really nice too, it has a really nice balance of the food flavor and the truffle oil.

Perfect spot on a cold December night! The tempura was perfectly battered and crisp. It paired well with the hot udon and the presentation was so cute! The cheeseburger gyoza was surprisingly a good combo.

This is my second time here and it was just as great as the first time. This time around I came for dinner and it wasn't too busy until we were about to leave. The restaurant still looks as clean as opening and the staff were attentive and great. I wasn't able to each much on the menu because of my allergies but the staff was able to make recommendations for me based on my allergies. I had the dish that's kinda similar to a poke bowl. I've had bad experiences with poke bowls in the past but this one was delicious! I wanted another. I definitely recommend giving this place a try.

The service is amazing and Annie took great care of us! The ambiance is also very pretty and aesthetically pleasing, so the dining experience was quite pleasant. The appetizers we ordered (kaarage, cheese burger gyoza, takoyaki, and udon cracker with salmon tartar) were all pretty flavorful, for our favorite was the salmon tartar. My only issue is that the amount of salmon were on the lesser side, which meant the bite didn't really capture as much of its flavor as it could have; adding just a bit more per bite would definitely enhance the dish and make it more worth the price. The hojicha latte was pretty and on the lighter side of sweetness, for they use brown sugar to sweeten it. It was good, but charging 9 dollars for it is quite high. The entrees were a mixed bag for us. My favorites were: The hot ebi tempura udon, in which the tempuras were perfectly fried and crispy! I think I would've preferred it cold next time around though, but that's my personal opinion. The curry katsu don, which had a strong intense curry and a perfectly cooked onsen egg to pair and enrich the curry! The cuts of pork had less fat on the end, which some people might prefer, but in traditional Japanese pork katsu, it's usually a bit larger to make sure the bites aren't as dry. But one again, just my personal preference! Now the ones that were a miss for me were:The cream mentaiko udon, which wasn't creamy at all. It was on the sweeter end but I would say its sweetness overwhelmed its creamy and savoriness. This was unfortunate, but it seems like many diners also have a similar experience, so I hope the chefs would work on tailoring it to make it more creamy and savory rather than sweet! The sukiyaki udon, which barely came with any broth and tasted extremely sweet as well. Definitely not your traditional style of sukiyaki, which was disappointing for us because we love sukiyaki. Would be amazing to incorporate more authenticity to this dish, for I'm sure it could be so much more amazing! The steak udon was also just mediocre. The cuts of steak were all overcooked and the flavor was lacking, where it was just mildly sweet and savory. The flavor profile could be reworked and it can be helpful to ask how diners would like their steak cooked! The price is also a bit high for its size and quality, but I think if they improve the quality of the dish then it might just be more worth it. Most of the items were overpriced, even their drinks. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience and I believe the issues I've highlighted can be easily fixed and tailored. Adjusting the price and quality can promote the longevity of this up and coming Japanese restaurant, for Muteki Udon already nailed down beautiful interior aesthetics and great service! I look forward to coming back in the future to update my review to a 5 star! Thank you for reading and best of luck! (:

Service was decent, but my husband and I were pretty disappointed by the food. We ordered 4 dishes and for a spot that prides itself in udon, the worst tasting dish was the udon. We came in on a Saturday evening at 8pm and there were only 3 tables of 2 seated. There is no excuse for the food being subpar considering they weren't very busy...Sukiyaki Don - The beef was a bit tough and the rice was too hard. It tasted more like Chinese takeout rice than Japanese sticky rice. Karaage Fried Chicken - The highlight of the meal. Very generous portion and the chicken was crispy and paired well with the sauceAkashi Takoyaki - Freshly made, but the octopus was a bit too chewy and sauce a little too sweetYakuzen Curry Udon - Very disappointing. The broth wasn't hot, more like lukewarm. Probably the worst udon I've ever had. It was super firm and just not good. Instant udon is 10X better than what I had here. For $27, I feel ripped off.I agree with another reviewer that all the 5 star reviews seem sus...

LOVE this local spot! Their sukiyaki udon & katsu were delicious. I was very impressed by the flavor as well as the presentation. Their dishware is also beautiful and very intentional. Servers were also so kind. Can't wait to come back again and try the other noodle dishes!

I would definitely come back here again to try the rest of the menu. And their staff is super friendly. I don't think you can go wrong if anything . I really enjoyed every dish I ordered. Their cheese sauce from their cheeseburger gyoza was fire! If you want cold noodles for this summer the salmon ikura is sooooooooo good.
