came here with my friend for dinner after she recommended it and i've seen in on social media. we got a reservation prior so we didn't have to wait upon arrival which was nice; otherwise there is a bar on the left upon entering where i guess you can wait and order a drink while you're waiting for your table to be ready. the building itself is a bit hard to find since it looks almost like a residential building but there is a small plaque on the side near the entrance. the interior is absolutely gorgeous and the staff are phenomenal! top tier service. we ordered a bunch of food so got really full so I couldn't eat it all but i was very impressed. only con was the price (VERY pricey, even for NY standards)for drinks i got the pear $18 cocktail and my friend got the corn $21. both very good and unique.for appetizer we got the hoe muchim+kim $24 and the assorted korean pancake $26. the hoe muchim was absolutely delicious (a bit spicy) but overall i would come back for it! the assorted pancakes were also delicious (very clean tasting for something that is fried) but $26 is a bit steep for fried vegetables...these appetizers alone made me pretty full not gonna lie hahabut for dinner we got the uni sotbap $60 and the bossam $36. the rice was actually REALLY delicious and they were very giving with the uni- the umami of the uni really complimented the ingredients in the rice. highly recommend. the bossam was also one of my favorites-ESPECIALLY with the housemade kimchi (TO DIE FOR). wowow i wish i didn't eat so much prior so i can really enjoy it but what can you do haha. for dessert we got the persimmon tart $12 and the buckwheat icecream $10. the tart was just ok, i can't pin exactly what about it was just mid but i wouldn't order it again (maybe if your older aunties dont want any "sweet" dessert" this would be perfect). the buckwheat icecream was super unique, nice to try and a great way to end the night (almost like a palate cleanser) but don't know if i would go out of my way to get it againoverall VERY delicious food and great service. definitely understand why it can be pricey but certain items i don't think is "worth it"? i do recommend this place still though, just maybe as a "treat yourself" :)

Easy to miss on the outside with its big heavy wooden doors, but absolutely gorgeous interior design! This restaurant is definitely more upscale than the Korean restaurants in the area of ktown- something different if you're willing to give it a try.For drinks, we ordered the Jamon Breeze, Keep it Fresh, and Naju Highball. All were delicious but weren't heavy on the alcohol. After you order your food, they serve you a refreshing citrus cucumber appetizer. For food, we started with the Hoemuchim +kimchi, which included spicy tuna, gochujang veggies, topped with soybean powder. Once mixed, you wrap it in seaweed to eat it. This was my favorite dish right here! Delicious, savory, and fun to eat. 5/5For appetizer, we also ordered the Fried Chicken. If you know me, if there's chicken wings on the menu, I absolutely need to try it. Here, the wings came piping hot and crispy, lightly battered and a side of sauce. The wings were exponentially better with the sauce - definitely too plain without. 3.5/5For mains, we got the galbi-jjim, mushroom sotbap, and the spicy mixed noodles. While the mushroom sotbap was nice and full of umami flavor, it was underwhelming. The spicy noodles added a kick of flavor and more yummy carbs for us to enjoy. Of these, the galbi-jjim shined in comparison to the sotbap and the noodles. The galbi-jjim was wonderfully braised, full of sweet but also savory flavors, and paired well with the peppers in the dish. For dessert, we ordered the burdock root ice cream, with chocolate mousse and burdock chips. We've never had burdock root ice cream so we were in for a surprise. The ice cream is slightly bitter(as burdock is) but also slightly sweet. It paired well with a little bit of the thick/dense chocolate and the graham crumbs. Well thought out and a good experience. The staff were kind and check in on you occasionally while you're dining, to make sure everything is okay. Overall, worth trying if you're the in the mood for not-your-ordinary Korean restaurant. While pricier, they offer different dishes than a typical Korean restaurant would. I'd come back again if I were celebrating an occasion with friends/family.

Make sure you have a reservation as this place is crowded even on weekdays! Service was a bit slow but the food came out fast. The wings were very fresh and hot. Super crispy and light breading it almost resembles chicken nuggets. The gochujang sauce paired with the wings were amazing. The kimchi side dish was amazing as well and a good palate cleanser for the greasy wings. The galbijim was very similar to authentic galbijim in Korea. I wish they would have offered a side of rice because it would have paired nicely with the dish. The meat was tender and juicy. The radish in the galbijim was a bit undercooked and hard. Restaurant itself is really beautiful but it can be loud at times. Hard to have conversations w all the noise

Moono, more like mooYES!!!!!! One of the best modern Korean restaurants in NYC imho. I love the interior design, the open airy space, the service, and the fresh kimchi!!!! Everything we got was amazing. I would come back and bring people for special occasions.

I went to this nice restaurant a good while ago as per most of my recent reviews with a small group. It's a bit fancier than many of the other Korean spots and the inside is nice with good architecture and the service was friendly though perhaps slightly pushy on ordering more. It's pricey but the food was excellent quality all around and I would go back. To drink, I shared a 375 ml bottle of the Nimone Tangerine Chungju which is 11% apv listed as consisting of rice, volcanic rock water, and tangerine peel all from Jeju island which is $13 for a glass or $39 for a bottle. The rice wine was very tasty with a subtle but noticeable flavor from the tangerine and I would recommend it.They gave us a cold green soup as an amuse bouche prior to the meal which was very tasty. It was a broth with cucumber, some fruit (I believe persimmon and apple) as well as something else that was a tad sour (perhaps yuja/yuzu?) It was good to cleanse the palate. The first appetizer that arrived was one of the highlights of the excellent meal which was the Hoe Mulchim + Kim/회무침 which is is listed with bakka (or rather bakkafrost) salmon, gochujang sauce, and soy bean powder for $24. The portion was reasonable with plenty of salmon which had a little chew to it which was expected from it being listed as hoe with some spice to it from the gochujang with the most unique thing being the nuttiness from the soy bean powder. The kimchi on the side was slightly on the fermented end which is my preference. I would highly recommend this. The Yukhoe/육회 or beef tartare with Korean pear and egg yolk for $28 was pricey but solid. The large mound of tartare was only subtly sweet compared to some other spots with more of a nutty kick presumably from sesame oil and much more beef focused. The Korean pear was also on the side instead of being mixed in so you can customize the crunch/sweetness.The Mung Bean Pancake/Bindae-tteok/녹두전 had mung bean, potato, pork, and jangajji for $18 with the latter referring to the soy pickles on the side. This was probably the weakest dish in terms of creativity but it was executed well. The pancake, consisting of two pieces, had an excellent texture with a bit of crunch and had the subtlest flavors of the night. We otherwise ordered three main dishes with two of them being highlights. My preference by a tiny bit was the Mushroom Sotbap/버섯 솥밥 with golden queen rice, mushroom, foie gras, and beef broth for $38. This is also available with uni instead of foie for $60 instead. They show you the full plate and divide it up by the group with each of us getting a pretty large bowl's worth. If you're looking for an earthy but balanced flavor bomb, order this. There was plenty of very tasty slightly nutty rice along with said mushrooms. There wasn't much foie gras but it presumably added to the richness of the dish. The beef broth within there was subtle.Speaking of Beef, the Galbi-Jjim/갈비찜 with soy braised prime beef, pyogo mushroom, and shishito pepper for $48 was also outstanding. Some places make their stews too sweet such as most of the Korean spots nearby but this one definitely wasn't. The beef was extremely tender and the mushrooms were supple. Outside of the ingredients listed, there was also a bit of shishito pepper for crunch as well as a bit of chilil. The last main dish was the Bossam/보쌈 with pork belly and bossam kimchi for $28 also served with a few extra dipping spices for ssam/lettuce wrap creation. While the other two were outstanding, this was more ordinary being more similar to the mung bean pancake where it was just a well executed version. The pork was fatty but not too so and there was plenty of stuff to make your wraps. It's also a bit more reasonably priced than the other main dishes more comparable to the other Korean spots nearby but I preferred the other two pretty heavily. The menu here has a nice mix of Korean staples along with some modern elements and as they're related to Jua I believe, this makes sense. I'd go back as a solo diner to get the sot bap and hoe again or to try more things on the menu. Mid 4

Incredible from start to finish! We walked in not knowing what to expect since we had reserved this pretty last minute but we were mind blown by some of the dishes. The appetizers were all great, especially the yellowtail dish - spectacular. Wings were solid and plentiful.Pork belly was also a standout. Service was great and the decor was beautifully designed. Really a cool vibe with no windows. Definitely more upscale Korean and good for a special event or date night. We ordered about 3 apps and 3 entrees between the four of us and took home lots of leftovers. Portions are big here!I'll be returning with a larger group next time.

My favorite restaurant in NY. Amazing upscale Korean restaurant with delicious drinks and food, beautiful interior, and great and friendly staff. The kimchi here is the best I've ever had and tastes so fresh - staff refills it so quickly even without you asking. Have sat both at a table and at the bar (they have great happy hour deals!) Must visit MANY TIMES!!FOOD:Hoe Muchim + Kim (10/10) - My only ever 10/10! I will order multiple of these the next time I come. Super fresh raw fish with a delicious sauce that you place onto fresh sheets of seaweed. So goodGalbi-jjim (8/10) - Not the best Galbi-jjim I've had, but still really really solid. Do recommend trying! Meat is definitely high quality.Uni Sotbap (7/10) - Very beautiful dish, but can't really taste the uni after it is mixed into the rice. Try if you like uni a lot, but prepare for not the strongest taste.

A friend of mine and I stopped into Moono on a Sunday for the "Social Hour." It runs form 5pm to 7pm Sundays through Thursday only at the bar. The menu is limited but has a few drink options (wine, beer, sake, and cocktails) and 3 bites. I had two different cocktails (Omija Spritz and Oksusu). Both were good and different. The Omija was lighter and more refreshing, while the Oksusu was alcohol forward with a unique corn flavor. Foodwise, we opted for the Bar Platter, which included jerky, pancake, and fried chicken. The bites were excellent and hit the spot for an early Sunday evening. Ambiance is nice. The bar was quiet the night we went, so we enjoyed a nice conversation. The decor is cool with a beautiful designed bar. Service was good too. Our bartender was friendly and attentive. My only knock is that for the price the social hour didn't seem overly worth it. I don't know that the food or drinks were heavily discounted enough to feel like we were getting a "deal." Outside of that, I would definitely stop back in to enjoy a good cocktail or try their dinner service.

I've heard about this place on social media and decided try it out for an after work Friday night dinner. We went when it opened at 5 pm without any reservations and was able to snag seats at the "communal table" without any wait. The table had nice decor and the dining room was absolutely gorgeous with a nice stain glass ceiling. I got a mocktail made with persimmon, perilla, lemon, and mint and it was super refreshing. The free appetizer of the egg in bone broth was really yummy and savory. The appetizers of beef jerky, yukhoe, and mung bean pancakes came shortly after. The pancakes were crispy and paired nicely with the pickles. The beef jerky was my favorite with an almost peppery mala flavor and with a tender texture. I didn't try the yukhoe but my coworkers said it was really good. The main dish of galbi jjim came and oh my god it was so delicious! The beef was soooo tender with marbled fat and a sweet and slightly spicy flavor. There was chunks of sweet potato, mushrooms, and little pieces of rice cake too. The rice was fluffy but could use more of a garlicky flavor. We ended dessert with their two ice creams which had unique flavors. The buckwheat ice cream was nutty and creamy. The burdock root was also nutty but all the components together somehow made it taste like ginseng. Overall the experience was great and the food was all delicious. I'd definitely come back again.
