You know how people say the specials bodegas offer are made with the meat they need to get rid of before it goes bad? Well, I think that's what we got with the omakase. I love fish, and have truly never been so turned off to sushi in my life. While there is some possibility we just didn't like the random types of fish they gave us, I think it's more likely that this stuff was just not fresh. I've had shrimp ceviche I liked quite a lot, but their raw shrimp sushi was so revolting I took one bite and covered the other half of it. The only good part of the omakase was the fatty salmon, tuna, and specialty roll (yellow tail specialty roll). The only reason I gave this place 2 stars instead of 1 was because everything else was good. Aside from the omakase we got miso soup, edamame, and the spicy shrimp. The spicy shrimp was pretty good - crunchy, and not too spicy. I might give this place one more try, but would absolutely not trust what the chef chooses to give us.

We came here early on a Friday and service was relatively quick, and food was pretty good for the price. I highly recommend the salmon belly roll off the summer specials list, and the Momoya Spicy Yellowtail roll. Delicious!(The spicy shrimp is exactly like Nobu's!)

Had dinner here for the first time upon the recommendation of a relative. We had a wonderful experience - from every single dish we ordered, to the tremendous, attentive service, to the delightful ambiance - this place is a must try if you love Japanese cuisine. Highlights: absolutely amazing brussel sprouts, a uniquely savory warm mushroom salad, super unique corn truffle gyoza, and salmon crunch roll. Save room for the Black Sesame Ice cream with a side of red bean paste. Fantastic! Reservations highly recommended as it was jam packed (also another sign of how good they are). We'll be back!

Delivery rolls.... Fast delivery but the rolls were very basic. Scallop, tuna, salmon and one special. I think the word average sums things up.

Momoya UWS is a solid choice for nicer fusion sushi and reliable service. This location is easier to get into than the Chelsea or SoHo ones. The space is also modern and sleek, without feeling stuffy. This visit we opted for the spicy shrimp (delicious, similar to the dish at Nobu), crispy rice, and sushi sashimi combo with yellowtail scallion roll. Everything was fresh and flavorful.

Tried a sushi spot in NYC that my girlfriend said originally got her to like sushi growing up! We went at lunchtime and were able to try the lunch specials which were well priced and very filling. We started with the crispy rice spicy tuna and I have had many renditions of this dish, but this was my favorite. The rice wasn't overcooked but was still crispy on the outside and I loved the texture of the spicy tuna on top. Both platters were delicious and our favorites were the spicy tuna roll, and the tuna sashimi. The albacore nigiri was also delicious, props to the chefs here they killed it!

Came on a Monday night without a reservation and the only tables available were outside in the heated patio. No complaints on the service.Every appetizer was subpar (1) edamame - overcooked and unevenly salted (2) duck buns - duck was tough / fatty / dry (3) eggplant was cooked well, but the black sauce was overly thick and I scraped most of it off. At this point, I'm wondering why the restaurant has people in it.This place gets 4 stars because my main (chicken katsu don) was very good. Extremely flavorful, moist. For such a basic staple dish, it was one of the best I've had.

Got takeout from this location, spicy tuna roll and salmon and avocado roll. My order was ready in a decent time. The fish tasted fresh, both rolls were a decent size. I would have liked the rice to be colder. The did forget utensils and soy sauce. I would order from here again.

We went here for daughter's birthday for an early dinner and got immediately seated. The last time we came here was about 5 years ago for her birthday, as well. We shared the following:1 sushi entree with yellowtail scallion roll, which is an eight piece sushi with choice of one roll (we got the yellowtail scallion). Daughter and I liked the yellowtail scallion rolls a lot. Hubs liked the raw shrimp. 1 sashimi entree with a side of brown rice and this was delicious. I love the fact that the sashimi was served on a bed of ice. It made it fresh and cold. We were given a choice of white or brown rice. I chose brown rice because it sounded healthy. 1 spider roll & 1 crispy rice- both were good. Daughter liked the crispy rice a little more. Hubs liked the crispy rice and thought it was different but he's more of a traditionalist. I didn't care for it but liked the spider roll. Spider roll is my favorite cooked roll. I like anything with soft shell crabs. Service was friendly and quick. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu.
