McCarthy's Pub NYC

We were looking for a meat and potatoes kinda place for dinner with a couple of my non adventurous coworkers so we decided an Irish Pub would be good. They have good reviews except for the service. And we experienced the same. We were created with in a few minutes and seated up stairs. It took a LONG time before anyone came to get us a drink order. And it took even longer to get our drinks. What stumped me was there were three employees standing at the bar talking. Doing nothing but talking. I asked for a refill of water twice and never received it. The burger and chicken wrap were reported to me as good but not great. But the curry sauce was absolutely amazing. And I mean amazing. Luckily there is no shortage of restaurants in the city to visit. I would willing go back if they worked on providing better service.

Great location - Times Square! Can't ask for more of an Irish Pub than this place! Beer was cold, snd the food was great! Irish Stew, Shepherd's Pie..It was packed, but we still had great service. Def would go back!

Food was ok. It was late and we were walking by and decided to run in for some drinking and ended up getting some food. Loved the Shepards pie. Wings were just ok, tasted a little old like they have been sitting for a while then flash fried. Dessert was surprisingly good as well.

This is your standard multi-level Irish pub that you'll see in midtown/hells kitchen. We stopped in to grab a pre-show bite and to watch a soccer match. We sat on the ground level and ordered a few beers and some plates. The chicken curry with rice was pretty decent. Rice was a touch undercooked but the curry flavor was excellent, and I appreciated the generous portion, ample veggies and the fries on top. The flatbread special with salami was just ok. Not a flabread, but a more doughy mini pizza that reminded me of frozen pies from the grocery. Beer was good and the service was friendly and excellent. I'd say it's a decent choice for a casual stop for the midtown/times square area.Got bit up by mozzies while there, though I suppose it wasn't their fault.

Service was great on this busy early Saturday evening. Food was also good. We were lucky enough to get a high top next to the bar to watch football on several TVs. Hard to go wrong with the ambience, food and drink selection in an Irish Pub in NY. However, stick with beer as my Texas Mule was pretty weak, even after the bartender enhanced it.

Wonderful food and service from actual Irish folk. We had French Onion Soup, Sirloin Steak, and Sticky Toffee Pudding. It was delicious, especially the STP. Even if this is all you go for it will be worth it.

My hubby and I came here on a late night date in NY as it was nearby the hotel we were staying at. The service was so awful. We never really got checked up on and there were so many staff working!! We ordered our first round of drinks and the girl who helped us forgot to put it in. We were eventually able to get our drinks and food in, but were still hungry and wanted to ordermore food+drinks. So, we waited and waited and waited, nobody. Nobody came to grab another drink/food order from us. To top it off the manager came by and just took the menu without saying anything??? We were still using it. We got so upset at the service we received that we asked for the bill and it took 5-8 walk-bys until they paid us out. They saw the card on the table and still didn't pick it up?? This experience was one of the downsides visiting NY for us and we will not be back.

The service was absolutely horrible. We said down & was asked to order immediately because the server was cut. They had us pay before our food was dropped. Once the food came out, we were never checked on again. The server didn't even check on us before she left. The bar tender was too busy chatting with the staff who had finished working & we're drinking at the bar. The Shepards pie was really good. Had we had actual service I would have left a much better rating. I would not go back due to the terrible service

Just the perfect place after the Theatre! It's our 3rd visit to this awesome little Irish Pub, right at Times Square! The Best Burger I've ever had, and Burgers are my thing!

we We're lucky we found McCarthys Irish pub our first night in NYC. We ended up back there every night for 4 nights. I must recommend the quesadilla. Best I've had. The drinks were great and the bartenders were awesome. I highly recommend. Can't wait to bring my daughter here on our next visit. They also have live music
