Food: These are my favorite wontons outside of Hong Kong! The food here reminds me of the flavors and quality of Hong Kong's wonton noodle shops. The noodle texture is bouncy and cooked perfectly. The wontons are very big and filled with shrimp. I would also recommend the dace fish balls. They are bouncy and so fresh. You can order the wontons either with or without noodles. Other items you can add besides the wontons and fish balls are dumplings, beef tendon, fried fish skin, and a zha jiang meat sauce. All of the items are great, but my favorites are the wontons and fish balls. They also have a variety of appetizers including veggies and curry fish balls. Their milk tea is also very good. Everything here is delicious, and you can't go wrong! They also sell frozen products to go such as their wontons, dumplings, noodles, and fish balls. Service: Service is phenomenal here. The staff are attentive and very friendly. Ambiance: The place is on the smaller side. There are a lot of tables, but the restaurant itself is narrow and seating is tight. Not ideal for very large groups. This place is meant for quick meals and not one to lounge around in. If you do have a large group, they can probably put small tables together though. Overall, I would highly recommend this place!

Maxi's is a no frills wonton noodle soup restaurant. The restaurant has a hole in a wall vibe and seems to be popular among tourists. They only allow 30 mins of seating time and you may be required to share a table if you're dining solo. I ordered the wontons with beef egg noodle soup and a HK coffee milk tea. The prices a bit more expensive compared to other wonton noodle shops in Chinatown but I will say the wontons were MASSIVE and packed with a lot of shrimp. The beef was tender and flavorful. I wasn't a fan of the HK coffee milk tea though- could use more black tea flavor. Overall, I think maxis does a great job elevating wonton noodle soups. It can get crowded and hectic during rush hour so I recommend coming at night. I also saw they have dace fish wontons so I hoping to come back to try those next!

The restaurant is very very tiny. The bathroom is tiny is well. The walkway is narrow. They squished our family of 3 into a two top. It's not a great restaurant to hang out in, you have to quickly eat and leave. The wonton was fresh and had large pieces of shrimp. The dumplings were fresh and also had large pieces of shrimp and mushrooms. I did not care for the fish dace. They were hard to swallow. The noodles were soft, bouncy and yummy! The food is good, but I think i would rather just buy to go or get the frozen food items. I bought the frozen wonton (1 dozen), they are almost $1.50 per wonton. It is really expensive. I also bought the frozen egg noodles, its $2.75 per serving, not per bag. So, you would need to buy one bag at least per person. It tasted great when I boiled it at home. Definitely pricey, but you are getting what you pay for. Next time, I will just buy frozen or take out. The line gets insane after noon.

Since this spot is pretty small. I called in to order in advance when they just open. They pick up their phone quick and I was given an order number. Went to pick up and paid was cash since they charge extra if you pay with credit card. They split out the container. One container with soup and the other with the noodles and the wonton. Definitely you can tell the wonton fresh. The size is bigger than your normal wonton and very fresh and chewy. The noodles is also good but I think with this type of noodle it will expand in your stomach later on even though the portion of it is not that much. Not sure if it's just me. If I order next time I might just order a different type of noodle.

Noods are my jam! For some reason when I'm traveling I always end up eating noodles somewhere, this trip was no exception! I've been wanting to try Maxi's for a while now and was so excited when I found out this location just opened. I went on a Saturday early evening and the wait was minimal.I walked in and they asked how many? I told them 2 and they gave me a number. They didn't take my name, they just said to hang out outside and they would call my number. Easy enough! I looked across the street and saw the mini Teso and got sucked in thinking I could walk over and make a quick trip and then get back. I indeed did not but after asking got my place back in line after they said they called my number 3 times...mental note...don't walk away anywhere because they move quick! The restaurant is a long rectangle...way longer than I thought. I've read some folks have been seated with other randoms which I could see happening if you're dining solo but since I had a plus 1...we got our own table. Space is premium so expect sit fairly close to other tables...if that's not your thing then I suggest takeout. Staff are super nice, efficient, and tentative. We never felt rushed to order, to leave, or to pay. There are a variety of noodles and toppings that you can choose and since I was pretty hungry I opted for the wontons, dumplings, and beef stew noodle soup! Everything was so delicious and the fillings for the wontons and dumplings were so flavorful and full! I ordered the lemon ribena to drink and that was a very refreshing drink. I had an awesome experience and will definitely be back!

So this has been dubbed as one of the best Chinese restaurants, and they finally opened a location in Chinatown so I had to go try it.The spot itself was small and in the midst is a soft opening. I will say it's very popular as I called to order take out at lunch and was told the wait was an hour. I came by at 7:15 for take out and the place was full with people lining up outside for a seat.I got their beef stew with noodles, and a beef stew and wonton noodles. The beef stew was very tender and went well with the soup and noodle. I will say you get a decent amount of good for the price ( about $14-$15 a bowl) but maybe it was because I just came from the gym but I was still hungry after finishing a bowl. Would definitely come back to try the others!

Maxi's finally got a Manhattan location so I don't have to trek down to Flushing for their famous wonton noodles! Biggest downside is that since they're nearly brand new in Chinatown, they're a bit disorganized logistically. There's not many places to sit indoors (maybe a dozen 2 person tables, and a few 4 person tables), so we had to wait about an hour even without a line; when we left, there's a huge line as well.On the bright side, the staff is extremely kind and friendly, something I'm unused to in Chinese gourmet. They gave us free curry balls and fish skins (highly recommended with the wonton noodles) for waiting so long. While speaking Cantonese def helps, our servers spoke English and our menus were also in English. We ordered wonton noodles (what else?) with a side of veggies. The food is divine, as the wontons are advertised - well-seasoned, gargantuan and packed with shrimp - noodles are fresh, and the meat is tender. It's quite inexpensive too ($12 a bowl), and you can also order add-ons if you want. I'd highly recommend this place if you can get a seat. It's worth the wait.

Just as good as the flushing location. Gets pretty busy but they move people quicky. The wonton soup cannot be beaten here.

Was excited for this noodle shop to open up in Chinatown! Came here on a very cold Tuesday night around 6pm and the place was PACKED! Had to wait for a table at the door but didn't have to wait too long - around 10 minutes for a table of 2. There were others waiting before us but for parties of 3 and 5 - so if you come here, expect a longer wait for bigger groups and a shorter wait if eating alone or a table of 2. The staff greet you at the table with hot tea and are friendly and smile through the very crowded and busy restaurant, throughout the entire process of taking your order, serving, checking in on you as you are eating, and then at the end of the meal. Def great service! We got the curry fishballs as an appetizer to start and for $6.50 you get 10 fishballs (they threw in some extra for us! :)) Amazing flavor - brings you right back to Hong Kong style curry fishballs! Although a bit expensive for what it is, I'd definitely order it again as a quick snack. For the main meal, we ordered the Egg Noodles Soup with Wonton, Dumpling, and Dace Fishball, as well as the Flat Rice Noodles Soup with Wonton, Dumpling and Beef Stew. Upon ordering these, they mentioned to us that there would be a 20 min wait for the food as they put the order in. We were glad it didn't take 20 min! Although they did bring us beef tendons instead of beef stew. We didn't mind too much- beef tendons were flavorful, not hard to chew and were on the softer side as if it had been stewing around for hours! The wontons were huge and full of shrimp and had a good bite to them. The dumplings were similar but also had wood ear mushrooms and so because of that, I think the dumplings tasted better! Noodles were both good and not overcooked. I would say the broth was pretty standard. I usually add hot chili oil to my wonton noodle soups- since I saw some in a jar at the table. I tried some but didn't reach back for more as it was just okay. Overall, food tasted good but for wonton noodle soups, I'd say walk a few blocks down to Wonton Noodle Garden- their broth taste better and their hot chili oil is actually spicy and complements the wonton noodle soup really well!

I was thrilled when Maxi's Noodle opened in Chinatown! The original location in Flushing was always too far for me, so having it closer is such a treat. I decided to order takeout and initially wanted the fried fish skin, but unfortunately, it was sold out. :(I ordered the wonton and dace fish ball noodle soup, and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. The broth was incredibly flavorful and comforting--absolutely delicious! The wontons were generously sized, filled with large shrimp and black fungus, which I loved. The dace fish ball was decent but didn't stand out as much. I also got an iced Hong Kong-style milk tea, which was perfectly balanced--not too sweet!Overall, the flavors were authentic, and I highly recommend this spot. I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of their menu!
