I was here for Christmas drinks with some friends, and our experience was great. Friends arrived before we did and were seated promptly upstairs. They provided towels for our hands and gave us time to look at the menu. Quick tip - the menu on each floor is slightly different! We asked if we can order from the downstairs menu but they said we had to be downstairs for that. The bar is set in a renovated carriage house and the ambience is cozy and inviting. Our party of 4 was fine, but it might be a tight squeeze if you had more people. My only complaint was the bench we sat on was rather uncomfortable. Our party ordered several drinks; The Grand Martiny's - this was great, unusual but goodScotch & Hibiscus - I ordered this first but wasn't a fan. The server took note of this and replaced it right away. I ordered the Spring Boulevard to follow and it was one of my favorites for the night!Royal Horse's neck - refreshingThe Armory - reminiscent of a manhattan, but sweeter. Loved this oneTiramisu - dessert in a cupSpring boulevard - slightly sweet, refreshing, probably my favorite of the nightNew York New York - on the sweeter side, tasted like the holidaysThe food was delicious as well. Definitely not enough for a meal, but compliments the drinks beautifully.Oysters & caviar - fantasticSweet corn tempura - this was good, but I wouldn't order it again. If you love corn, its a great choiceHokkaido Uni - my favorite dish! Reminded me of arancini, but with uni. Definitely would order this again.Overall, the service was great, food and drink came out promptly, and were delicious. I appreciated how attentive the server was, and he was quick to make sure we were happy with our choices. Looking forward to coming back and trying the downstairs menu. A fantastic unique spot for date night. Highly recommend

Picture this: a swanky cocktail joint where one server is basically your food fairy godmother, telling you all the good eats to order, while the other came to work as Grumpy. When asked for drink recommendation, he pulled the ultimate uno reverse card - "Oh, your usual drink is a Hendricks and tonic? There's your answer!" I was flabbergasted when he said that?! Rather than helping me explore the menu by understanding my pallet he just redirected me to back to the information I just offered. Groundbreaking, huh? The plot thickens. When my friend dared to dislike her NA drink, our server basically said "Well, did you fill out a 23andMe test for your taste buds before ordering?" Well I asked and I did not get a good recommendation. She eventually just settled for the only other NA option which is a spritz because, let's face it, it's pretty hard to mess up bubbles and bitter stuff.Look, I get it - if I were at a dive bar in the village, I would have shrugged my shoulders and not even said a word but at these prices, I expect better than an "it's not me, it's you" attitude. The drinks I had are still stellar and the vibe is immaculate, but someone needs to remind certain staff members they're working at a craft cocktail bar, not a drive-thru window.

Heard so much about this bar, from friends and from bartenders abroad. Had to check it out, and as a fair warning, it's defintely tough to get a reservation here. The inside of the space is really well decorated, giving an older lounge-type vibe. The downstairs and upstairs were both very lively, and overall, a cool space to be in. We didn't get the food, but we got a lot of the drinks. Some standouts were the Tea Ceremony and the Caprese-based drinks. Overall, the drinks were really interesting to try out, and the servers can explain and give great recs depending on the type of drinks and flavors you usually like or don't. Of course, we also checked out some martinis, and they were excellent. Truly a spot that lives up to the reputation, and a great spot to check out if you're able to score a res.

Updating my review to 4 stars after having tried out the upstairs space. The upstairs space is more lounge-like, as opposed to the somewhat crowded bar seating downstairs.Service is more accessible upstairs as well. Highly recommend the Armoury #1 (which is nothing like the Armoury #2 at Midnight Blue). The drink actually completely changes as the ice melts!

Esquisite.Caprese was my favorite cocktail I had, over Mole Granada & Yogurt Vesper. Italian flavor clean and pure in a glass. My friend loves the Curry Leaf mule as well. For the food, Uni Risotto definitely worth a try if you are looking for bites as well.

Whenever I travel I try to check out bars on the Top 100 Bars list! I've been lucky enough to try a couple in NYC, but this last visit (with enough advanced planning) I was able to score a reservation at Martiny's! When we arrived we were our seats weren't quite ready (no problem - we were 10 minutes early) so we waited outside. In those 10-15 minutes several groups popped in wanting to get a seat but they were full for the night so folks were mostly leaving after hearing how long the potential wait would be. Once we hit our reservation time we were seated at the bar and reminded of our maximum time. The bartenders were moving quickly to fufill the many orders. It was non stop from the moment we sat down until we left. Luckily a front row seat meant you could see which things looked appealing while also reviewing the menu. They started me off with I think the Maia (swapped with tequila) and then Three Little Words. Both were very good and refreshing! I guess we should've gotten a martini but we were pleased with the drinks we did have! The one missing star is mostly for the way our experience ended. We were asked to leave our seats 15 minutes early to accomodate another group. We respect that their our reservation times, but being rushed at the end before our official time was up wasn't great. We were constantly reminded we had until 10 pm, but at 9:45 they were pushing us out as a large group stood behind us. We waited outside until beyond our reservation time for our table so that was a turn to actually lose a few minutes up front and a chunk at the end. So ultimately I'd say the drinks were a 4/5, service 3/5, and ambiance a 5/5.

Why is that when I go to nice bars, there is always a dish that I adore and want to recreate but was not even the purpose of my visit! Had reservations for a night here with 2 friends and had a really pleasant time. There is a time limit for each visit so that others may also come in and the limited seating and small space makes for a very intimate and moderately quiet atmosphere. To start off with the food, which I did not expect to be a highlight and also not even the initial orders we made - the food is actually really good! I love love love their corn tempura. There is a crispy crunch from the small bite sized ball of sweet corn that is perfectly shaped. It is heaven in a ball. I wish I could remake it. The ricotta and tomato dishes were also pretty good. I was looking forward to the ricotta more, but I actually ended up liking the tomato more! It was so refreshing, not too watery or plain. Actually quite nice. Slight acidic tang very mildly which added an extra layer with the cool refreshing taste. Now to the drinks - I honestly cannot remember what I had anymore except for the passion fruit punch which was a very delicate touch of fruity mixed with the alcohol. Mildly sweet to overpower the bitterness but not too sweet that it's overwhelming. I wanted to get it again but I wanted to try other things too. Maybe next visit will get again!

I've been here multiple times now and this remains my favorite bar in the city. Even on weekends, without reservations, wait time is not too bad- I usually will put my name down and go grab a drink somewhere nearby, and within an hour the table is ready. The place itself is cozy and great for a date night! This bar has made me a fan of martinis- their blue cheese martini is my favorite, its sake based and so very easy to drink. Their food options were okay- really liked the karaage with caviar, but their tartare had too much parm which was overwhelming and salty. I would recommend going as a pair of two especially if its your first time because the bottom floor has a slightly different and more expansive menu compared to the upstairs area.

A cocktail bar on the World's Best Bars list run by an Angel's Share alum? Yeah, there's gonna be a line outside. Fortunately, my friend and I planned a few weeks ahead and made a reservation for the bar. We tried:+ Grand Martiny's + Olive & honey vesper + Plum blossom sour+ Passion punchThe martini and vesper were perfect, and I loved the passion punch as well. The menu is huge and there were tons of drinks that I'd love to try in the future. 5 stars for the drinks alone. The thing that keeps this from being an overall perfect 5 stars for me, though, is the time limit - we barely had enough time to gulp two rounds. (Other reviewers have pointed this out, too, so just be aware before you go.) Service was fantastic and they were kind about the limit, but at these prices, I don't want to be rushed. Next time, I would plan around going to a show or dinner after where the time limit wouldn't bother me. 4.5 stars.

If you're not getting a caviar bump with your martinis... you've been doing it wrong your whole life! There's no better place to get it other than Martiny's. Ranked #4 for North America's 50 Best Bars in 2024. If you love martinis, this is your home.Yes, the drinks are going to be expensive because it's NYC. You're also paying for innovative and well crafted cocktails. I highly recommend getting the Kaluga Caviar / Mini Martini pairing for $30. The caviar's saltiness pairs beautifully with the martini.
