Malii is excellent. This isn't your usual Thai restaurant -- the menu is much more adventurous, there are so many unique dishes to try. Almost all of them are phenomenal -- from the papaya salad to some of the great beef dishes, they come with lots of flavor and just the right amount of spice. The cocktails are good too, with Thai flavors and a rotation of interesting seasonal drinks to keep things interesting.I've been a handful of times and only on the most recent visit did I hit my first snag -- the crispy lime chicken appetizer wasn't up to the usual standards. But I won't let one bad dish on one visit bring down how impressed I've been at every other meal here. And while it certainly isn't cheap, I do think prices are fair for the high quality meal you can have here!

it wasn't too crowded on a wednesday afternoon and we were seated quickly. the waitstaff were efficient and friendly and our food came out quickly. we got the tom yum, and lunch specials pad kee mao and sautéed basil. we ordered spring rolls and the thai salad with peanut dressing. in my opinion, the peanut dressing SLAPS. i wish i could buy a bottle of it.pad kee mao was sweeter than it was spicy but i still enjoyed it. my boyfriend thought his sautéed basil + beef dish was fine, but we both really liked the tom yum - it was delicious. only thing is that the ladle we were given for it was too big for the dish and so serving it was a bit difficult. the interior of the restaurant is pleasant and overall the seating area is pretty spacious.

Had a late lunch here. I really liked how flavorful the sweet chili vermicelli was and the plentiful shrimps it came with. The noodles were a little clumped together though. The pineapple braised pork was good but could use a thicker sauce or more flavor. The Choo chee prawns were my least favorite. While the sauce was good the prawns were a little mushy.Service was good and the place is roomy and smartly decorated.

Overall a great place for Thai food. Had a large party, and they were very accommodating. I have no complaints in terms of food, ambiance, or service :) However compared to other Thai restaurants in the city, this one isn't as unique. Despite this, the food was delicious and the Thai tea was yummy!

Their lunch special is actually pretty great and cheap. There are no RSVPs though so mostly walkin. Can get pretty busy but nice interior, not too spacious so try and come if you can before the rush! Food all is quite good and the drinks are also quite nice, I really enjoyed the seafood soup. Both the Thai fried rice and pad see ew were great options, the spring rolls were probably my least favorite.

The crab fried rice was so good-- my friend had to get it two days in a row now. If that doesn't speak about this-- I have no idea what will! Need to try the other dishes asap! But great location near nyu dental!Cheers!

A little gem that serves homey delicious Thai cuisine. The tomyum soup with shrimp was a refreshing and citrusy soup. It was a great opener as it wasn't too heavy. The crab fried rice was delicious, and had a generous amount of crab meat. Mixed with the sauce and some lime, each bite is so flavorful. The chicken massamam unfortunately was a little disappointing. A piece without the curry sauce proved to be a little dry and lacking in flavor. I've had better, so I would skip this. The sizzling roti with Thai ice cream was a nice end, something unique! Overall, the decor is very nice. The staff is friendly and service is good. Food, for the price, is very acceptable and I would come back if I'm in the area.

Malii Thai Restaurant offers a delightful array of flavors that showcases the essence of Thai cuisine. The standout dishes were quite tasty, particularly the bold flavors that truly impress. However, I found the steamed seabass lacking in temperature, as it wasn't served piping hot, which detracted from the overall experience. Additionally, diners should be cautious of fish bones. The crispy belly, while well-prepared, leaned a bit on the salty side, but the rest of the meal was enjoyable. The restaurant itself has undergone a commendable renovation, presenting a clean and inviting atmosphere. The staff were attentive and helpful throughout our visit, adding to the positive ambiance. While the prices are a bit higher than other Thai restaurants I've frequented, the quality of the food justifies the cost to some extent. However, to enhance the dining experience, I would suggest ensuring that all dishes are served at the appropriate temperature and possibly adjusting the seasoning on the crispy belly for balance. Overall, Malii Thai is a solid choice for flavorful Thai fare, with room for improvement in specific areas.

Tina's take: 7/10 The place was small but had many tables alittle too close to my liking. The service was very good and helped us decide on what to order. Appetizers and entrees were timed accordingly and were very good. The drinks were ok wish they had a bigger kick. Only complaint was once we finished our meal our bill was dropped automatically. People like to e joy each others company not get chased out.
