This is a bit more on the expensive side due to ambiance and location but definitely a great date spot. They charge you per ingredient so not like the typical weigh by the pound kinda deal so it may get pricey. It was really good and they did have many types of interesting beers. Service was also great. Not sure if I'd return that often but wouldn't be opposed.

Came as a party of 8 and got 2 Dry pots and 6 bowls of rice. It was the perfect meal after a long day of playing pickle ball at the park. Flavorful and we were all able to finish the food. Pricey, but ambiance was cozy and fun. Neon lights were a nice touch at this specific Mala Project location. Took a bit to get water but afterwards, our service was normal. The dry pot was cooked perfectly this time and everything was delicious. A good spot to try if you want Sichuan food in a modern space.

I love the ambiance of this place a lot! It felt like o entered an Asian underground speakeasy and it's a great place to go by yourself or with friends to yap with. Got the dry pot with glass noodles, pork belly (SO YUM, my favorite), fish fillet, shrimp balls, bok choy, and king oyster mushroom with medium spicy. It was S0000 YUMMY OMG there were so many herbs on it. It just made my tummy hurt a bit after and it was expensive $60 for one bowl

First time, had a great experience! For apps- got the peanuts which were solid, and the cold noodles which I highly recommend (we wanted a second order of it). Ordered the dry pot as our main course - enjoyed it. It was like dry hot pot. Favorite ingredients we got were the eye of round beef, bok choi, cabbage, enoki mushroom, and lamb. Also loved the cold noodles. Good cocktails too. Ambience was groovy and fun. A note- we shared our dry pot amongst two people, and had plenty of leftovers so if you have a party of 4 you could consider sharing one dry pot and then getting appetizers as well!

Okay, I've been to the one in the city years ago and I remember I said it will do if you're not able to trek it to Flushing, but you definitely don't get the same value as you do there.I was craving mala dry pot and saw they had a Brooklyn location, so I said why not and I want to say you definitely don't get much. This was like $30 dollars and only came with one to go container and one small rice. In Flushing the one in the New World Mall, would give you two rice containers and 2-3 containers of the mala pot for that price.Craziness and I also thought the squid would be like the one in Flushing where it doesn't come scored and causing it to curl.It satisfy my craving, but made me feel ripped off.

I visited Mala Project for the first time to try their dry pot and was pleasantly surprised. It's a hip and casual spot perfect for sitting down and enjoying a meal. The portions are generous and shareable, and the drinks were creatively delicious. A great experience all around.

3.5 stars. Came here with a group of 4 under reservation. The quality is not bad, but the price point is high compared to places in Flushing. That's NYC for ya. They recommend getting 3-5 items per person, but be warned the items add up. We ended up having a decent amount of leftovers.

I've always been a fan of the Manhattan Mala Project locations, and I'm so excited there's one now in Brooklyn closer to me! Their signature dry pot is not for the faint of heart, so if you're not into spice this may not be the right place for you. The dry pots are most ideal when you have a larger group, so you can share the large bowl and order more ingredients. Some other favorites of ours from the menu are the Dan Dan Noodles (also spicy), the purple rice, and the Herbal Jelly dessert. But honestly, you should be going for the Dry pot. We love these in the dry pot: Pork Short Rib, Lamb, Pork Filled Beef Ball, Spam, Fish Fillet, Boy Choy, Chinese cabbage, Shiitake Mushroom, Firm Tofu, Konjac Noodle, Roe Filled Fish Ball. This new location is definitely an update from the East Village location that I'm used to, it's much more modern, punchy, and contemporary-it definitely feels more Brooklyn, but glad that they've maintained all the same flavors and spices.

This place is so good I've been here maybe 3-4x now. I highly recommend coming with a party of 4+ so you're able to order more things into the pot and try everything in the dry pot. The spiciest level is indeed very spicy!! I love the customization of your dry pot and trying everything was fantastic. I also ordered the mouth-watering chicken which was fantastic and so delicious. The service and ambiance here are good -- the menus have a very interesting and cute design. I will be coming back time and time again in the future when I'm craving dry pot :)

The vibes and the servers are super nice and it's a cute spot in Greenpoint. However, the food isn't worth how much it costs. Ended up spending a lot for something I could easily make at home and it's lacking a bit of flavor. Coming from Hong Kong where the mala is what it should be, the dry pot lacked flavor and added up to be pricey, the drinks weren't the best but that just might be my preferences. The Mala Express tasted purely of bourbon and not much else.
