This might be one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. I've been here at least three times bringing different people that come to visit because I know that they will fall in love with it too. It's definitely not your classic Vietnamese restaurant, it is more of an elevated Vietnamese vibe. For an appetizer, we got the BANH BOT CHIEN, which is pictured below with the sauce and chilis on it. The dish is rice cakes with eggs, scallions topped with fried garlic, diced sausage, cilantro, fresno chilis, and fish sauce is given on the side (which is good because my bf isn't a huge fan of fish sauce even though I'm obsessed with it). I didn't know what to expect when we ordered this, but wow my mind was blown. The rice cakes are crispy and carry all the toppings really well. I got the vermicelli bowl pictured below. The lemon grass beef is DELICIOUS - so tender, so flavorful - kinda feels like butter in your mouth. The portion is great.Other dishes I've had before: Tet noodles (Egg noodles stir fried with garlic butter fish sauce, topped with lump crab meat & prawns) - these are a must get if its your first time, the madame pho (Beef broth simmered for 24 hours with rice noodles, eye of round, brisket, meatball topped with cilantro, onions & scallions), and the banh Xeo (Vietnamese crepe with sautéed shrimp & pork belly. Served with fish sauce) - FYI the crepe is HUGE lol definitely could be your main or needs to be split with multiple people. The staff is super friendly and if you have any questions or want suggestions they will not guide you wrong!

Pricey yet decent quality Vietnamese food. Some of the appetizers were the same price as the entrees, which I found a displeasing.I've been feeling a little extra lethargic and down lately because of SAD and the influx of the more harsher end of the NYC winter, but the bowls of soup here warmed both my tummy and spirits.BBH was a little more on the tomato-side than I prefer but was still tasty. I wish there was more of a spicy and sour element to it that I'm used to back home in California. The Pho here is tasty! I was pleasantly surprised when my request for extra fat for my soup was accommodated by the kind staff member taking my order. If you want your soup to have more of a beefy edge to it I would highly recommend asking for their "nuoc beo," or literally translated to "fat water," on the side. This is essentially the extra fat they skim off when they're cooking the pho. I noticed that they kind of skimp on the noodles here. Great for someone who favors broth but for me, a noodler, it didn't hit the mark.Limeade was delish and tasted fresh and lightly salted--a perfect accompaniment to the saltiness of the soups.Overall, good Việthames's soups that have a more elevated price tag. I'm not sure if it's entirely worth the price, but if I were to be in the area I may drop by.

Service: 4.3/5Food: 4.1/5friendly staff. surprisingly not packed at 1:30pm on a sunday, the rush came at 2pm. good food, maybe a little pricey. apps are good for sharing. lots of unfamiliar dishes so that helps set it apart from other places. entrance is a little confusing (turn left), unsure why they have the curtain. well lit. What I Ordered:- Madame Wings: crispy, juicy, tender. nuoc mam (fish sauce) wasn't overpowering- Muc Rang Muoi: slightly overdone- a little chewy, otherwise good, we'll seasoned + good sauce- Bánh Bot Chien: unique + underwhelming, just pan fried rice cakes w sausage. not very cohesive- Tet Noodles: sweet, good amount of crab meat, still a little overpriced, shrimp was slightly overdone- Bun Bo Hue: well seasoned w good noodles, includes Cha Lua (Vietnamese sausage) which adds authenticity. only complaint being it had too much flavors going on

I hardly ever get pho when I crave viet food, but this bowl has truly changed me. the madame pho bowl has extremely tasty meatballs, which is my favorite part of this dish. This is also the first time I have ever tried banh xeo, and it has become a staple for me whenever I visit vietnamese restaurants (whatever they add in that fish sauce that comes with it is so tasty!)Workers are always so fast with taking our order and accommodating me + my group whenever I visit. 4/5 times I've been here, I didn't have a reservation, but they always try their best to either get us seated at the bar or make things work out for us so that we're not waiting for too long. this place is always busy no matter what time, so let that be a testament to how tasty it is! The restaurant itself is pretty cozy, but it extends a bit into the back for more seating. they play a lot of great music, too!

Really delicious pho here at Madame Vo. We ordered the, + summer rolls (Goi Cuon) -- light refreshing, not much flavor+ Bun Bo Hue which is a spicy lemongrass broth with meats. It was really delicious not too spicy but very flavorful. The noodles were thicker than o typically like but still a solid soup + Madame Pho with short rib. Their short rib is huge! I didn't get to try it but it looked like it was a fan favorite because many people ordered it around us. + SOTO sake-- delicious and some of the best sake I've ever had would definitely get it again. Our waiter was friendly. Highly recommend booking a reservation so you aren't waiting. The place gets busy. The seating is cozy it's a small restaurant but everyone isn't packed in super tight like sardines. Check it out if in NYC

I came here twice, once when I picked up the Vermicelli noodle salad here for dinner and the other for a more sit down experience. The noodle salad I had was honestly delicious, I would highly recommend and it's a great item to get delivered. When my friend and I came here for dine in we shared a Bun Bo Hue, salty limeade, and a chicken wing platter. The wings were coated in this spicy, nutty, garlicky sauce that I still think about. I wish they sold that sauce separately since I would be putting it on everything. The noodle soup had really rich, meaty broth but I do need to come back here to try their actual pho. The soup was good though and I would recommend to those who love a hearty but flavorful bowl of noodle soup. Paired with their salty lime soda, this meal was overall really good!

First time eating at a Vietnamese restaurant. Needed some guidance ordering. Waitress incredibly kind, generous with her time and willingness to help. Ordered the Madame Wings (spicy) and the rice cakes served with fish sauce for appetizers. Then for main dish I had the Bun Bo Hue (spicy) and my husband had the Com Suon Nuong (pork chop with rice). Great food. Casual place. Wonderful waitress. Of course we ordered drinks. And since it was our anniversary I ordered the "Yes, Honey". Seemed appropriate and was very good. Enjoy!

I visited mid-day and was able to get seated right away. More spacious than I anticipated, but restaurant has a modern, elevated feel. I don't think that I'll ever run into a Vietnamese restaurant in NYC that matches the San Jose or Santa Ana Vietnamese food scene. Madame Vo, however, will do just fine. Bun Bo Hue was decent and I could eat this again (and again). Probably doesn't have as much as the kick as other Bun Bo Hues. I was a little surprised to see that they had Nem Nuong spring rolls on the menu. Nem Nuong is Vietnamese pork sausage. Their approach to Nem Nuong was really good and I was tempted to order another round.

Easily made a reservation for 2 on a Thursday night and it was super packed but got seated immediately. I grew up in San Jose so the Vietnamese food was always the best and couldn't find a place in New York that would compare. I got the vermicelli bowl with grilled chicken and it was honestly amazing. The grilled chicken was flavorful, the noodles and veggies were fresh and the portion was pretty big. I loved the fish sauce they used and it was the right amount of flavor. My friend got the madame pho and his broth was also good but I definitely liked mine more. Would come back just for the vermicelli bowl!
