I finally had a chance to visit this cafe. There are steep steps to go down so thank goodness I didn't bring the baby or a stroller with me today. I did see they have a first floor but I'm gonna guess the main area is the basement? I feel like the first floor can be opened for wheelchair patrons. Well, walk down the steps carefully. There is an interesting door by the basement entrance which was the bathroom. It transports you back to the 80s, I loved the posters they hung up inside. The tables have mahjong/domino for decor, I loved how pretty it looked! The menu was pretty cool.We ordered the curry pork chop rice and the satay beef egg dish. Both were really delicious. Even with an egg shortage, there was no surcharge and my bowl had an entire layer of egg. Each entree came with a free hot drink or a cold drink for a $2 upcharge. I'd love to visit again. Food and drinks were fantastic and I love the atmosphere!

Mabu Cafe is such a cute spot! The decor is really nice, making it a fun place to hang out and take some adorable photos while enjoying a meal. The vibe is super cozy, and the servers were so friendly and welcoming. We tried the scrambled egg pineapple bun, and while the bun was amazing--crispy on top and soft on the bottom--the egg layer was really thin. I think it would've been even better if the egg was thicker, but it still tasted good. The half coffee and tea was okay, but nothing too special. The durian and chicken dish was lightly flavored, which might be how it's supposed to be, but I found myself wanting a bit more oomph.Overall, the food was just okay, but the atmosphere and service really made the visit enjoyable. It's definitely a nice place to chill and snap some cute pics! It's definitely more like a 3.5 rating but that's not a choice here.

Disappointedly, I didn't love this place like I thought I would. The upside was that we didn't have to wait in line, which was a common sight when the restaurant first opened, to try out the eatery. They have space upstairs and in the basement, and my party was seated downstairs. I loved all the vintage HK decor and the mahjong tables, as well as the inventive menu items. However, I think that's where it ends. The food -- the most important part of any restaurant -- was mid. It didn't necessarily taste bad, but I wouldn't go back for mediocrity. Satay beef and sunny egg on instant noodle (4/5) - Overall, this was a decent dish but the satay flavor was subtle; it would've been better with stronger flavorBaked cheese with tomato sauce beef on spaghetti (3/5) - I thought this would be the classic HK baked dish of minced meat with tomato sauce, but the meat was sliced meat. I didn't expect that but at least the meat was a good texture. The rest of the dish was not super saucy or cheesy. If you like things light, then this might be up your alley.Tom Yum Goong Seafood Instant Noodle Soup (4/5) - The flavor was pretty good, and the setup was creative. It's kind of funny that you have to scoop all the noodles back into the cup to eat though. Durian coconut chicken mini pot with instant noodle (2/5) - The durian is really small like the size of a golf ball. I'm not sure if it's cause it disintegrated in the hot broth. But the flavor of the chicken and broth was not enjoyable. Vanilla ice cream in pineapple bun (3/5) - This tasted better than Japan's famous melon pan ice cream to me. However, the pineapple bun looked like it was made in-house and ranked lower than most Chinese bakeries. Also, the worker thought we ordered the pineapple bun with butter, but we clearly said the right number for this dish. There was some back and forth until the worker offered to swap out the butter for ice cream instead. When we ordered this, we also asked for the dish to be served toward the end of our meal because of the ice cream, and the worker agreed to it and did. So I'm not sure why there was confusion with what was actually ordered. Soybean milky cream french toast (3/5) - Interesting flavor but underwhelming. It was basically french toast with a pool of condensed milk in the middle and soybean powder spread all over. The HK classic of peanut butter condensed milk french toast is better.Red Bean Freeze (3/5) - Too much ice, poured out a huge chunk of ice that didn't break up.

A restaurant that transports you to an ostentatious cha chaan teng aka Hong Kong cafe/diner with flamboyant neon lighting and walls crammed with decorations (btw, they don't actually look like this in HK). Two entrances - the one street level, and the flight of stairs to the right that take you to the basement. Pay with cash for a small discount.Large, laminated menus are covered with saturated photos of items and adorable illustrations that beckon you to order them. This menu aligns to my dispassion for reading (jk), and my favorite type way of ordering, pointing and saying "this". We got:Satay beef with scrambled eggs over rice - best entree we ordered. The beef was quite tender and the sauce was delectable. Thankful for the steamed broccoli as my only veggie source from this entire meal.HK Style Rice Noodles Rolls w special sauce - disclaimer, the sauce was indeed special and carried the dish. It was a smooth soy + peanut sauce that hits drastic notes of sweet and salty. Rice rolls were very tender, but overall, a simple, but solid dish.Beef with black truffle over rice - granted, this was the furthest item from me, so I only got one bite. It was ok, and I personally preferred the satay beef for the sweet and salty contrast, vs this dish being only salty.Baked spaghetti - as expected, a bit on the greasier side. Unlikely to order again. Strawberry cream milk french toast - exactly as pictured: pale pink cream doused two slices of french toast. Artificial strawberry flavor for sureeee, but sometimes I need to keep my body on edge with some Red 40.Coconut milk with grass jelly, sago, and taro ball (plus the teddy bear in the bathtub): cute for sure, but flavor was not necessarily there...but still cute nonetheless. This was brought early in our meal, so Mr. Bear was already melted away by the time we got to him. Ask for this to be brought towards the end of your meal if you want an intact dessert.Overall, fun and eclectic spot that goes above and beyond in terms of flair, presentation, and plating. The mah-jong tile tables are beautiful, and the eye for detail is omnipresent throughout the restaurant. The food itself was just alright, but worth a visit for the atmosphere and vibe.

A cute very "cool" Chinese aesthetic hk cafe. I feel like I've been to the very same one in China lol. There's plenty of seating downstairs, so there wasn't any wait for a weekend brunch. Their menu is really big, but only physical menu size lol. The variety of options aren't super vast, but they did have interesting variations of hk cafe staples. I ordered the curry fishballs, the soy milk French toast, and the red bean grass jelly ice. Curry fishballs were a hit, impossible to mess up. The French toast was pretty good! I liked that the bread was soaked in milk and the soybean powder everywhere added a good amount of sweetness. Service was also quick. Overall, not a bad place, especially if you're craving a variation of instant noodles, because they got a wide selection of that haha.

A no frills Hong Kong style joint to enjoy the comfort dishes. Anything with a toast, fishballs or rice cake fix. Chinatown doesn't have much HK spots and this is one of the rare hidden eateries available in the area. This is located with the main ground floor with small amounts of tables, but more in the basement area. Mahjong tables, a bathroom with an old Smeg refrigerator door, and memorabilia from the old 80s and 90s era of Chinese entertainment of movie posters and music albums. A cute spot that I appreciate even in my high school and meal college budget days. The prices for dishes here were inexpensive that you can't beat. They even have cute drinks that you expect in a classic HK style place or bubble tea shop - bear shaped goods. Food isn't fancy but it hits the spot if you want a quick service snackish dishes. My boyfriend and I wanted to recapture our childhood Asian comfort dishes and this place did the trick without breaking your wallet. I will deduct one star because of the cleanliness of one particular area in the restaurant near the heater/ Air conditioner. The dining area here had a pungent seafood smell and flies were floating around here that made me question the seating's cleanliness. Everywhere else in the restaurant is fine, even the bathroom was clean. But just this one fix is needed to keep the restaurant equally in top shape.

Super cute Cantonese brunch place with great prices and good food! There is alot of space downstairs so there is usually no wait. I got 3 things to share with my friend and we could not finish! C10. Baked cheese spaghetti with pork cutlet (tomato sauce) - The baked rice was also great with huge amounts of cutlet underneath the chicken. The spaghetti is a bit sweet like Jollibee's but I enjoyed it.A06. Satay beef with scrambled eggs on rice -The eggs are super soft and the meat is tender and flavorful, but I prefer their A05 beef and back truffle over rice.E01. Salted Egg french toast - My favorite is the salted egg french toast that I order every time! It is not too sweet and has great salted egg flavor with pork floss on top.Over all I would definitely recommend if you are craving cantonese brunch!

Cute little place to grab some Hong Kong style breakfast! Chinatown has changed so much throughout the years. I'm happy to see some of these nice new additions. Surprisingly it was kind of empty when we went on Sunday morning. Staff was nice and friendly. Got the regular HK style milk tea, lunch meat w/ instant noodle, satay beef w/ instant noodle. Also ordered the Ovaltine french toast. Everything filled our belly happily.Sat right under one of the neon lights on the wall so lighting on my pictures didn't come out too well.

Trendy HK style cafe and the wait used to be pretty long but it's better now. There's 2 floors although it's small still! I sat downstairs and the decorations are so freaking nostalgic and cute here! Lots of bright signs and colors! The table also has mahjong tiles! Service was pretty quick although prices are on the high side for quick comfort food. Food wise my favorite was honestly the durian chicken hotpot! I was surprised by how light and flavorful that one was. The chicken wings were meh but the squid legs were good! They came out in cute scales. The teddy bear milk tea was just cute appearance wise but not like ~ $8 good. We also tried the satay beef with a sunny side egg up which was good and shared a cheese baked spaghetti!

This place was super cool. We hit up this spot for an early dinner that our friend recommended. This place from what we have been told gets very busy. Luckily, we got our seats quick for a party of 5. This spot has a lot of seating- main floor and the basement area. I thought the door to the bathroom was creative. It a refrigerator door The menu was a bit overwhelming and not sure if I was starving but everything looked delicious. We ordered the BBQ Pork on rice, Garlic Shrimp & Scramble eggs on rice, Baked Macaroni with beef, Baked Macaroni with chicken cutlet and (if I can remember) baked Spaghetti bowl. Everything was definitely delicious. Only thing left on the table was the baked macaroni dishes, only because it was the kids and it was a lot. While waiting for our food I couldn't help but look around at all the decor. It was bright and very eye catching. Service was good and we received everything correctly and quick. Overall our experience was great and if you're looking for spot in Chinatown add this to your list.
