This place recently rebranded itself as a Sri Lankan restaurant and what a great decision!! I've never had Sri Lankan food so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised. Amazing flavors and very unique dishes. My favorite was the kathu roti and the jackfruit curry. The hopper almost like a fun shaped dosa but more fermented. The ambiance was up scale, white table cloth, the waiter was in traditional lungi which added a fun layer. Service was quick and efficient. I'm genuinely so excited to go back and eat the other dishes.

PS. Some of the reviews here are for a restaurant that occupied this address prior to Lungi. Please note that Lungi does not serve North Indian food so if you see reviews mentioning butter chicken or any of the likes, it is not for this restaurant.Service is good but the food!! The food is the star here and god is it GOOD! If you want some good Sri Lankan Tamil food this is the place to go! We got the Banana Leaf Virindhu! Oh my god was it fantastic! The biriyani that came with it... and the chicken curry??? THE CHICKEN PORIYAL?! If you're getting a la carte, definitely get the chicken poriyal and the ambur biriyani!! The virindhu was SO much food that tasted incredible. We ended up bringing half of it home. I was sober when we went so got a non-alcoholic drink: the guava lemonade. WOW, dude! Real fruit, you can really taste the difference! My partner got some masala chai which was incredible too.And you know it hits when the restaurant was full and nearly everyone dining was also Sri Lankan! Come eat your heart out for some fantastic Sri Lankan food! I promise you it is worth every penny!

The special banana leaf meal here was a real pleasure. I'm very happy with the changes that Lungi made over its predecessor. There was an enormous variety of dishes - the vegetarian option has Gobi 65, biryani, chickpea with pearl onions, cauliflower, dal, sambar, rasam, achaar, dahi, papadam, and rava kesari, served with rice. The non-veg option came with two extra meat dishes. Each dish was very flavorful and unique, working together to provide a wide variety of flavors. The presentation on the banana leaf was also really nice. For the meal plus masala chai, the cost worked out to around $67. It's certainly expensive, but it's probably the only meal you'll need for the day, and worth it for the variety and the quality.

Lungi is a South Indian & Sri Lankan Restaurant. It is also a Michelin 2024 winner. My friend and I wanted to try out a new to us place and he found this place. I am not one to pick an Indian place to go for a drink as I am sensitive to some of the smells of Indian food. But, it was ok here. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our drinks. I had just a regular gin and tonic and my friend had an old fashioned, which was one of the speciality cocktails on the menu.We were chatting with the Bartender who was very nice and telling us about the restaurant and about his personal journey to becoming working there. If I remember correctly his name is Dan. The bar area here is simple but very nice and intriguing. If you find yourself in this area, I would stop by, if not for food then just for a drink.

We recently visited Lungi for a get together with family. We ordered the Thakkali Melagu Rasam, Guntur Chilli Mushroom, Kanyakumari Nethali Varuval and Egg Hopper for appetiser. The Chilli Mushroom and Fish fry were amazing. The Rasam was a bit spicy to our taste buds and Egg Hopper was delicious. For main course we ordered Gun Powder Thattu Idli and Ambur Biryani (Goat). The Biryani was amazing and the Idli was extremely soft and was melting in the mouth. For drinks we ordered Neer Moru, Citrus Fizz and Nannari Sarbath. The ambience of the restaurant was good and the servers were courteous and explained about the cuisines in detail.

Came for dinner on a Friday. We made a reservation earlier that day, so we did get put in the bar area which was less than ideal (lots of foot and kitchen traffic). Food was amazing though! I tried: + Gun powder thattu Idli+ Egg hopper+ Deafman shop Tawa fish fry+ Kochin Kadala kari+ Masala dosa The masala dosa was my favorite, followed by the fish fry (spicy!). Egg hopper was also great.

Walked in for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and the place was relatively busy. Staff was kind enough to get me seated even though they were about to close the restaurant for afternoon. What was formerly Imli is now Lungi, and I believe it is the same team, but with a more South Indian and Sri Lankan forward menu. Fresh look too - new interiors, brighter decor, and a good patio seating.Sri Lankan food good us excited and we ordered Vegetarian Kothu ($22), Kerala Mutton Stew (27), and Plain Dosa ($15) for our little one. Cocktails are mixed by their partner, Vincent who was friendly enough to chat with us and also make a very good Old Fashioned!Food overall was good, although the Kothu did not live up to it's Sri Lankan standards (my reference being Sigiri on LES). Kothu was very roti forward and lacked the kind of roasted taste that I was expected. It was much more moist and didn't really have much flavor. The stew on the other hand was flavorful and tasted better the next day!Service was excellent, and the menu is slightly on the pricier side. Definitely worth a visit for their South Indian menu and cocktails. Will visit again with friends and family!

Food: The food was delicious! I particularly enjoyed the eggplant dish. The flavors were authentic and the portions were generous. I did find most of the dishes a tad bit spicy for my taste but my spice tolerance is pretty low- it had a good kick of flavor and spice which I think a lot of people would normally appreciate and enjoy.Cost: The prices were a bit on the higher side for the area, but still reasonable for the quality of the food.Environment: The restaurant had a nice ambiance, with comfortable seating and a pleasant atmosphere. It's a great spot for a casual meal.Service: The service was quick and efficient. The staff was friendly and attentive.Uniqueness: The food was delicious- it's a solid South Indian restaurant that offers good food and service.

Ordered delivery so only reviewing that! The lamb lamprais and fish cutlets were delicious! The fish cutlets come in three pieces per an order with a spicy mayo dipping sauce and while pricey for $16, I felt were worth it. The lamb lamprais was great! It came wrapped in the traditional banana leaf and had really soft and flavorful rice, pieces of lamb, one egg, daal, and eggplant moju. They had also included some sautéed onions, though I would have preferred seeni sambol. This is not a cheap dish at $32, which makes sense given the high quality ingredients and how labor and time intensive it is to make. I love Sri Lankan and South Indian food and this is a great addition to the neighborhood! I wish they will start delivering on Uber eats - just an easier way to order than bento.

We were craving South Indian food, and luckily, my partner found Lungi in the area we were in on Saturday afternoon . As we entered, we realized it was the same spot where Imli used to be. The management is the same, but the staff and kitchen team have been revamped. Our server Ahmed and manager Sathish warmly greeted us and kindly agreed to a table change when we requested one. The ambiance was good, and I loved the South Indian music playing in the background.Ahmed was a great server and also helped us make some choices on the menu. We started off with Neer Moru and Guava Lemonade. The moru had a nice kick of ginger to it, and the guava drink was delicious and refreshing. For our appetizers, we tried the Kerala Beef Chukka and the Tawa fish. Both were well-made, but my partner and I agreed that they were missing a bit of zing.Fortunately, our main courses more than made up for it. The Kerala Mutton Stew, which came with a side of rice, was flavorful, and the Egg Hopper accompanied by coconut milk and sambal was a highlight. We also enjoyed the Chicken Kothu Roti. Had a nice touch of spice to it! Overall, Lungi is a great spot if you're craving South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine. The service was top-notch, and the food was largely delicious. Their cocktail menu looks great too - we couldn't try it this time, but we'll definitely come back to experience that. Definitely recommend!
