Love love loved their food!! Super cute place that serves very authentic Shanghainese food, space can be slightly limited. The portions can be on the smaller side, so be ready to order more dishes if you're really hungry. Service was friendly and fast, would recommend going with group of friends! Food-wise: the four of us ordered Steamed Whole Bass, Baby Eel with Scallion and Ginger Sauce, Dong Po Pork, and steamed soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao). - I really enjoyed the steamed sea bass, it was very fresh and tender, and definitely worth the price. - The baby eel with scallion and ginger sauce was also great - very authentic Chinese dish that's not easy to make and not always offered in any random Chinese restaurant. - I also really liked the string beans with minced meat - this is grilled string beans that's spicy, so very unlike your typical bland string beans. - One final recommendation is the Shanghai stir fried noodles - extra carbs for the gents around the table! Would definitely revisit with more friends whenever I'm in the area!

3.5 StarsI had high hopes since there were pretty good reviews but I was a little underwhelmed. I came on a Sunday afternoon and there were only a few customers inside. It's not a huge space but there's a good amount of tables. We ordered our food and it came out at a decent time. As for the food, we ordered a few of their dishes and the only one that stood out to me was the salted egg fish fillet. It was fried perfectly and had a good amount of creamy salted egg sauce covering it. As for the other dishes - it was just okay, nothing special (mapo tofu, sweet & sour ribs, cumin lamb). The Chinese sausage fried rice was pretty good. I was skeptical to try their "dim sum" items since it was pretty pricey but we got their pan fried pork buns and soup dumplings. Both were not great. They weren't hot (a few of the dishes came out room temp, pork ribs were borderline cold). Skin was thick on the soup dumplings and pork buns had too much dough. Overall, not a place I would come back to. There are much better places with similar foods and better priced.

A great spot for Shanghainese cuisine which is also perfect for large groups -- made a reservation for 9 for a birthday dinner and we were seated immediately on a weeknight. There are larger tables toward the back of the restaurant, which feel great for a group. I liked that QR code menu has photos too! There are plenty of vegetarian and pescatarian options, and they were open to small subs like removing pork. All of the food was great, but my absolute favorites were Soft Shell Crab Rice Cake, Eggplant in Garlic Sauce, Shanghai Noodles, and Cauliflower! They even gave us a free birthday dessert (rice pudding), which was appreciated and delicious.

I came to this place after getting it recommended from a friend of mine. It was definitely some of the best dim sum I've had. For the amount of food I got, the price wasn't bad either. From 5-7 pm everyday they have 8 dollar dim sum. I got a total of 4, and my bill was a total of 48 dollars with the tip included. Not bad if you ask me. I will definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting Manhattan. Since I live in Philly, and I'm typically not in NYC, I probably won't be back any time soon, but I would love to come back!

friends and I had a reservation for 4 people at 6:45 and were seated immediately when we got there. they had a pretty large menu and I liked that the online version had pics of all the dishes. we got pork buns, lamb, sausage fried rice, soft shell turtle, crispy duck, green beans. if I were to go back, I'd reorder the lamb and green beans, despite my friends being pretty disappointed that it didn't taste like lamb at all (I've never had lamb so I can't comment on it, but it was tasty). fried rice was decently salty but pretty small. I'd most definitely skip the duck and turtle. waiters were pretty attentive despite the restaurant getting full at around 7:15.

As soon who grew up Shanghainese, I will say I probably have higher standards and am more critical but overall I was pretty disappointed after trying this place and hearing good things. Most of the food is overpriced for what it is, just for the taste to fall short. The most interesting was the soft shell crab rice cake dish which is nothing like I've ever had before, but was overly salty. The waiter we had was pretty cool though

Great selection of street food. I enjoyed the flavors and proximity. It's different from what I grew up with here in NYC but tasty nonetheless.

Had high expectations for Little Alley. I love Shanghainese food and they had an interesting menu. The lighting was atrociously red and unflattering for photos, but it gave off a street-ish vibe. 1. White cut chicken: just alright. Standard. Though I've had waaaay better in most other places. 2. Bok choy: alright, standard. Pretty good. Generous serving. 3. Soft shell crab with rice cakes: meh. Not much crab. A lot of rice cakes. Nothing special. Overall, I'd say the food is just alright. Not great. Not bad. There are many more better Shanghainese joints in New York so this place is Skippable.
