The quality of the food and desserts at Lassen & Hennigs is always great- it's fresh and tasty, what's not to love? One of my favorite things there is actually their red velvet cake versus their popular sandwiches. The cream cheese frosting is delicious and the cake is pretty moist albeit a little too crumbly for my liking. All in all, I wish this place had more locations as it's a great food and bake shop and I hope it continues to stay for decades to come.

Classic Brooklyn bakery that I love to patronize when I'm on this side of town. Highly recommend the red velvet cake! That's what drew me here over 20 years ago and that's why I still come back. Also recommend the pumpkin cheesecake and other flavors. The desserts always taste like they're baked/prepared fresh and are delicious. There are no seats so anything you get is going to be a grab and go treat. Upon entry, the bakery counter is to the left and the refrigerator and register are to the right. The middle aisle has items that don't need refrigeration. The store is small and is usually crowded with at least 10 patrons at a time. 2 thumbs up, will always come back and highly recommend

Came here by chance since there's a cat cafe and clinic not that far. I had to drop off my cat for her spay appointment. My bf and I were just looking around for a place to grab breakfast then head home. Me...being me saw lots of pastries so I was pulled in!I noticed it's a little like a deli but they have a lot of cakes and all on one side. To say I wanted everything was an understatement. I get overwhelmed and want to get one of everything! But...my bf and I settled for a small pumpkin bread load, two glazed donut, lemon cake and a chocolate cake. Again, I swear I wanted to get more but the bf...stopped me...curses!!!We brought the babies home and we were tired from having to wake up early to drop off our cat. So we napped and when we woke I was ready for a snack! We had the donut first and it was very good it's a bit cold from the fridge but it was still soft and sweet. It's not super soft like from Krispy Kreme but it was soft and I wonder if it would have been even softer if we ate the donut rights away. Our cakes, we had after dinner that day. It was pretty good, mine was lemony like really lemony. Not sour but it's lemon haha. The chocolate was pretty good as well, not super dense but soft enough to really enough. Can't review the pumpkin load since I gave it to my mom. But I really want to go back to try the other items.

I didn't get a chance to eat breakfast before heading out so I decided to stop by Lassen & Hennigs for a bite to eat. This family owned business has been in operation since 1949. They have baked goods and soups galore. I ordered an egg sandwich on a roll and it was really good. I'm glad that I decided to give them a try.

I was in and out of here in less than 5 minutes after giving up on L'appartement 4F line across the street. The pastry counter person helped me select a phenomenal cheese Danish.Wheelchair accessibility is fine, no barriers to get in and there are benches and picnic tables outside. I wish the staff was a bit more helpful. Most places that have self serve coffee offer to do it for me because it's pretty hard to do it myself in the store and I was alone, but they do not.

While this looks like your run-of-the-mill bakery/prepared lunch spot from outside, I was surprised to find out how truly extensive their menu was when I finally stepped all the way in! The first time I stopped by was for a Too Good to Go pickup and I got a bagful of muffins that were only okay, and I didn't go back for about 4 months despite walking by this place weekly. I was looking up croissants recently and stumbled upon someone mentioning that the bakery items are made in-house daily here and rival the fancy ones across the street and so I thought I'd give it another try! I bought two plain croissants (they also have chocolate, lobster tails, and some other versions) for about $3.50/ea and toasted them up a bit at home. They were a bit smaller/straighter than I expected, but they were flakey, buttery, and delicious! I would definitely buy this again. As for the rest of the shop, they have a TON of cakes, cookies, drinks, and prepared hot/cold foods available! Prices average about $10 if you wanted to grab a cold sandwich/salad for lunch, and I was amazed at the variety of cold side salad/slaw options in the back. There's a decent amount of pasta/meatball options to heat up as well! Finally, the rarest thing I found definitely has to be the single slices of bread pudding. Wasn't feeling it today, but I'm curious about how it tastes!

Service was on point and the shop was busy when we went. This is my first time trying them out and they are a sweet tooth's delight! We bought the raspberry/chocolate and vanille fillings cake. It was so sweet and I'd pair it off with black coffee or dry wine next time. It went well with my bland chamomile tea though. So if you crave a sugar overload, then try this cake. I'm now partial to the $2 cupcakes lol. Small but mighty with the frosting and taste. I will buy again and again and I'm recommending this for cheat days lol! They have different toppings/frosting!The vibe was great and the colleagues at work had a good time digging in. We plan to explore other flavors. My sister enjoyed the cake too and I trust she will be visiting soon too lol. I'm the newbie but they are regulars,So this was a choice to get the cake for this celebration from here! Great choice too! Until next time but for a lot less sugar fill.

When I lived in Brooklyn Heights Larsen was the place to go to purchase cakes and sandwiches. Back in the day the markets were sparse in the Heights; Dagostinos and Key Food were the main draw. Lassen filled the void from those markets.. however at a price.I always found Lassen to be overpriced and still is.My friend and I stopped by after dinner to grab a mini treat.I bought a mini Hostess cupcake for $2 which I hate to say was tasteless and dry so not worth the cheat. They bakery display looks good but have to wonder how great are the rest of the options. The price gauging is really in effect for a plastic container with 4 pieces of rugelach for $9.99. Sandwich prices start at $12(?) I'm unsure if Apartment 4 F which took over Connecticut Muffin's space is giving Lassen a run for their money. The nearby Starbucks closes early so maybe Lassen is benefiting from that?Either way, Brooklyn Heights deserves better.
