It is hard to find a pizza restaurant without fancy environment and candle lights. We are tourists and not interested in networking. This pizza spot is of best choice. $6'99 per slice! That is awesome.

- overall rating: 4.5- I would never sit inside with my dog but I appreciate that they let me bring her in when I get food to go, bonus .5- was surprised to see the large corner space taken by a pizza place considering there's a dollar slice place around the corner, but they seem to be doing well- recommend: grandma slice- wouldn't get again, but will do in a pinch if you have a craving: beef patty- clean, bright, thoughtful layout, quick service- this will likely be my new go to late night on my way home from the bar stop- hopeful for a 5 star bump up in the future, after trying more of their menu

large newish pizza spot cornering 2nd Avenue and 4th Street--with a huge menu to match--serving sub sandwiches to pasta to a variety of topped pizza and mo'. clean, and a lot of seating. the plain cheese pizza is solid: a rug of melty cheese + somewhat saucy sauce on a NYC style crust. while not artisan, La Vera's pizza does its job of delivering calories to 'zza casuals. not all pizza is built the same.

Is this the best pizza spot in NYC? No, but especially living nearby, La Vera has become my go-to for a few reasons:1. Quality (and calories) for price: The pizza and other dishes are dense, and it is possible to get a solid meal for a moderate price, between $10 and $15. The ingredients are fresh and all of the items I've tried have been good or decent.2. Variety: They have just about anything you could want on their menu- I would say it is comparable to Rays, but with more fresh options and without the bagels.My go-to is the BBQ chicken pizza.
