L'Appartement 4F serves up the BEST croissants in the city--no contest. I never thought I was a croissant person because they're usually dry and flavorless, but that all changed when I visited Paris. I realized I just hadn't had the right croissants until then. Of course, Paris croissants are legendary, but I'm serious when I say these come so close--and that's no accident since the owners are Parisian themselves. Sure, the line can be long, but it moves fast, and the payoff is 100% worth it. Plus, their upstairs seating area is surprisingly spacious for such a small spot, so while you might have to wait for a table, it never feels like a long wait because people are in and out. Lastly, their chocolate chip tahini cookies will MELT in your mouth. If you're a croissant lover--or even if you're not yet--make this place a priority.

One of the best croissants I've had in New York. I got the everything bagel croissant and wow that blew my mind. Recommend to come early to skip the line! There's cozy seats upstairs too.

Literally saw Jeremy Allen White here??? Hauling a big bag full of goods so that's approval enough.Aside from that, this is a must try bakery. We stood in line for a bit to get in, but it was totally worth it. I absolutely loved the flakiness of the croissants. I got pistachio rose (due to appearance and popularity) and almond nutella. My brother and I both liked the nutella almond one better though, pistachio rose filling was a bit too sweet for our liking. Would go back for the almond croissant and try other pastries in a heartbeat!

Since this amazing cafe isn't near where I frequent, it is a TREAT when I can stop by. Not only does it delight my aesthetic senses, but it also delights my taste buds. I've tried a variety of pastries here and the trick is to get here early before they sell out. At the end of the day, usually cookies and regular croissants are left. And let me tell you, the tahini chocolate chip cookies are my favorite in NY! The croissants are buttery and delicious. I especially liked the pistachio rose croissant and almond croissants. The upstairs seating is absolutely what cafe dreams are made of. Small marble round tables each adorned with a fresh mini vase of flowers. The floor to ceiling windows stream in lots of natural sunlight allowing for great photos and pleasing light. Will be back to try the rest of their menu including their croissant cereal.

Their hallmark (the croissant) was flakey and soft, with a nice buttery flavor but I think I preferred the pain au chocolat, which was light, airy, and had a good chocolate to pastry ratio. The Kouign amann wasn't for me though. I came on a super cold morning and there was still a line! Fortunately it moved quickly and finding seating wasn't an issue.

Have been wanting to try this spot for some time, and with some family in from out of town, finally found occasion to wait out the ever-present lines on the way to bringing the family for the de rigeuer tourist promenade visit. The pastries are quite excellent--to my disappointment, the pistachio rose croissant was sold out, but the server recommended the pistachio financier instead, which was sublime--moist and flavorful, but a bit small, left me wanting more. My family was delighted with their croissants (tried one, it was excellent) and I think somewhat enjoyed the frisson of waiting on line for a New York treat.Overall I must admit I was pretty impressed--few places live up to the hype for their main product like this. I would say that the coffee products were mediocre, and I'm not personally sure it's worth the wait of the long lines I sometimes see, but if you are a croissant connoisseur or love a good pastry, this is well worth the visit.

I LOVE the pastries here! Probably the flakiest and buttery-est croissants I've had in New York so far (I've had a lot lol). To me, better than both Radio and Librae. I especially recommend their pain au chocolat and the rose pistachio. They also have a cute upstairs seating situation which is convenient. The real only downside is how quickly they sell out. Tough to get the best pastries but if you go early you wont regret it.

Worth the hype if you're in the area! Came around 10:30 on a Sunday and waited about 20 minutes in line. They were still stocked with all the pastries but some favorites like the cinnamon bun were running low. All the croissants we tried (almond, pistachio rose) were so flaky and yummy. Their cinnamon bun is amazing. And the cookie was a hit too. This place is so cute and there's seating upstairs and on the street. Will be back!

Came here on a Saturday and there was a bit of wait. The cafe is pretty small but super cozy. When I got to order they ran out of the pistachio rose croissant I wanted. I got the almond and regular croissant instead. The almond croissant was super delicious and flaky. There was almond on top with almond butter in the middle. The regular croissant was super flaky and buttery. Overall, this bakery is definitely worth it and the croissants are amazingly good.
