I liked Kuih Cafe for their preorders for the Mid Autumn festival. I was able to get these gorgeous durian mooncakes. Delicious and quick(ish) service for such a busy day. Food was great and made with no preservatives.

We stopped by Kuih Cafe in Chinatown at 4pm, and were lucky enough to get the kuih set before the crowd rushed in. The owner is a friendly and sweet Malaysian lady -- she chatted with us and passionately introduced her cakes. She has moved to New York for decades, bringing the authentic taste of her hometown with nostalgic snacks. They are more than just flavors and appearances, but desserts infused with warmth and care. *Kuih Set $12To celebrate Lunar New Year, the angku cakes were intricately molded as the shapes of goldfish and lucky bag, symbolizing good luck and prosperity. Angku kuih is a steamed cake made from glutinous rice flour and filled with mung bean fillings. The steam cassava with palm sugar sago and shredded coconut was an interesting combo of flavors that I've never heard of. I truly enjoyed the soft chewy texture and subtle sweetness of every single bite.

It's a small little store with a couple of tables out front, but more suitable for takeaway. Everything is made fresh so expect a wait if there's a queue. Most of the desserts are delicious and does remind me of Malaysia in some capacity. The cendol was good although not my favorite item. Their Pandan ice cream is delicious and I would get it again. The Pandan peanut pancake is just okay. The Pandan flavor was lacking and it didn't have a nice bouncy texture like I'm familiar with. Here it was a bit mushy, so I tossed most of it unfortunately. I heard great things are about the noodles, so I may order that next time. I'd definitely come back and try the rest since it all seems delicious and everyone left with happy faces.

Kuih Cafe is a quaint and charming spot with limited indoor seating. The cozy interior accommodates only two seats, allowing just four or five people at a time. However, the cafe offers outdoor dining with three tables in the front. The menu is refreshed weekly, and the latest offerings are posted every Wednesday evening on their Instagram page. Every dessert is beautifully presented, adding to the overall appeal.During my visit, I sampled the Kuih Angku and Kuih Sago-Ubi Kayu. The Kuih Angku features a steamed rice flour skin filled with sweetened mung bean paste, reminiscent of mochi. It has a beautiful symbol on the top, which means long life. I recommend enjoying it immediately, especially during hot weather, as it tends to become very sticky. The Kuih Sago-Ubi Kayu was my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE! This delightful treat consists of steamed sago with a gula melaka top layer over a grated cassava bottom layer. It was simply amazing.Additionally, the cafe prides itself on making everything from scratch, including their ice cream. The owner is incredibly nice and welcoming, adding to the overall delightful experience at Kuih Cafe.

Amazing spot for kuih / treats! I tried the Kuih ambon pandan and kuih set (pulut tai tai, pandan lapis, and pandan magic). The pandan lapis was my favorite, but everything was fantastic. Limited seating so it's best to get your treats to go.

First time having Malaysian desserts! We tried the Apam Balik (Malaysia Pancake/Crepe), and it was really good! Very unique and Asian (not very sweet, even some salty). We got the combo (half original: crushed roasted peanuts/butter/sweet cream corn + butter-kaya (pandan spread)). Both were so good and very unique. The original flavor was crispy on the outside with yummy peanut butter and sweet cream corn.Definitely drop by this mom and pop shop and try this out!

My friend came by the other day and informed me of the weekly special of durian ice cream. I knew I had to come by to try it. The storekeeper remembered her and asked us some questions about our lives. The durian was super fragrant. It wasn't the creamiest durian ice cream I've had, and I do think they add some sweetener to the ice cream. There were bits of durian meat in it though, which I appreciated because then I could tell it was real durian. Their card machine was down that weekend, but they accept Venmo.

Small storefront with seating outside. Staff is friendly. We got the ice chendol and it was DELICIOUS. The coconut milk with the crushed ice was perfect for the summer day. It was $8.

I grew up eating lots of Malaysian food and desserts so I was so glad to find this shop when I moved to NYC! It was Thanksgiving weekend so there weren't a lot of options left but I got myself a Kuih Set, which change from time to time.--Pulut Tai Tai - really reminded me of kuih salat with the bed of glutinous rice with a savory coconut flavor. The pandan cream was just enough for a sweet balance. I'm a huge sucker for sweet savory combos so I think this one won my heart! --Ubi Kayu - was a close second because of loved the QQ chewiness of the cassava! Loved how it was like a two hit bunch: first the strong coconut flakes then the subtle coconut flavors from the cake itself. --Panda Magic - also enjoyed this one because it had 3 different layers of pandan! Sponge cake on top and more traditional kuih at the bottom - talk about the textural contrast! The store itself was small and the owner was super sweet. Heard that she gave some extras to the customer in front of us. Wanted to try so many other things but wasn't in stock given the holidays. Some seating outside but everything is small and well packaged so you can take it to enjoy back home or elsewhere.
