The most underrated brunch in Manhattan's Chinatown. Kong Sihk Tong is a Cantonese/Hong Kong style cafe, which focus on serving inexpensive food quickly. The menu is massive, featuring everything from traditional dishes to Cantonese interpretations of Western dishes like Spaghetti Carbonara and a Club Sandwich. While Mei Lai Wah across the street and Golden Diner down the block have ever-present long lines, Kong Sihk Tong is somehow never very busy. The interior is casual and cozy, with lots of seating considering the small space. You must order the Golden Lava French Toast. This is a classic Hong Kong style breakfast/dessert of soft white bread stuffed with a sweet and salty egg yolk custard, and then deep fried until crisp and golden. 10/10. The Steamed Rice Roll with Mixed Peanut Butter Sauce consisted of tender sheets of steamed rice that had been cut quite narrowly and then rolled into perfectly bite sized bundles. The rich peanut butter paired perfectly with the umami rich hoisin sauce and sesame seeds. Another must order. The Hong Kong Milk Tea was not particularly flavorful, but pleasantly piping hot on a cold day. Skip the Curry Beef Brisket. My husband remarked that the meat was low quality and dry, and the curry itself lacked depth of flavor. Also, too many green bell peppers. Regardless, we look forward to trying more of the menu.

Came here on a Monday and was surprised to see that seating was decently filled. I've never been here before so I didn't know what to expect but I've heard good things. I came with my friend who has a baby in a stroller. The restaurant was very narrow and as we went in with the stroller, we pretty much blocked the whole entrance. Despite this, the staff were VERY patient and accommodating as they prepared a table for us.After a few minutes, we went inside and all the staff were super nice, engaging in small talk, and ensuring that the baby was safely sitting in his high chair. We ordered the golden lava French toast, baked fried rice with pork chop, baked rice with chicken Portuguese style, and a curry beef brisket over rice. The golden lava french toast was divine! When we all had our first bite, we were shocked at how good it was. The baked pork chop and baked Portuguese chicken rice were both also very good. The curry flavor was good as well, but the piece of beef brisket that I tried was a little tough.Overall, the portions were great, the food was delicious, and the staff was super friendly. They made sure any utensils and hot baked dishes were FAR from the baby. Our waiter (I believe Chiu from the receipt) was also telling us about his experience being a dad. It was a wonderful experience eating here and you best believe I'm coming back very soon because of the great service.

First of all, the service was great. We got seated pretty quickly and the staff was transparent about their kitchen closing. But the food was so underwhelming. We started our meal with the truffle fries. They were hot and fresh. But I thought they can use a bit more salt and they can have a bit more of a crunch when I bit into it. We got the shark fin soup next. It was ok, but required a bit of heat. I was expecting a shark fin meat in the soup for what ever reason. Lastly, we got the xo noodles. This was the most underwhelming. Although the pork was surprisingly soft, the whole dish was dry but somehow greasy. It was disappointing.

Great spot for a quick meal!!!!We arrived for breakfast and there was about a 20 minute wait- note they do classic pen and paper so you do need to wait around outside for your table.Nonetheless service is prompt and fast! We ordered and received all our food within 10 minutes of ordering- the milk tea did take a little longer than usual.Although I was looking forward to trying their chow fun, which is only served for lunch/dinner- they still have plenty of good items to choose from. The tomato and macaroni soup was so homey and perfect for a cold day. The toasts were truly special- we got the ovaltine and golden lava- i did prefer the golden lava one as it was perfectly sweet and savory! My favorite bite however would be the pineapple bun with the chunk of butter! Though mei lei wah has a special place in my stomach, kong sihk tong is superior with the quality of pineapple bun! We thought the butter would be overbearing however it was good quality butter that complimented well with the bun! Would highly recc and excited to come back to!

The food comes out fast and flavorful. The staff is everywhere helping out and cracking jokes or just being in a good mood. The ambiance seems like a typical diner you would see on Netflix or TikTok.The made to order grape soda was really refreshing and the dumplings were great

Came here for breakfast on NYE and was seated immediately. Crazy to know that this spot was opened for so long, but it was my very first time eating here! They dont have too many options available until after 11:30 so we ordered a breakfast set, mixed sauce steamed noodle and a golden lava toast. Food came pretty fast and my favorite was definitely the mixed sauce steamed noodles - can anyone really go wrong with this? We ordered a preserved veggie with pork over mei fun which was decent as well. Golden lava toast, I wanted to love but I only liked it. HK style milk tea was okay but definitely not my type of tea! They accept venmo payment which was interesting but convenient!

My FAVORITE breakfast spot in NY. Quick, affordable, and the best HK style french toast I've ever had.I get the noodle soup with pickled veggies for a light, but satisfying main. The star of the show is the golden lava french toast. Perfectly crispy on the outside, sweet, but not overwhelmingly, and the creamy, salted egg yolk filling is an insane combo of savory and sweet that's to die for. My objective is to finish the noodle soup quickly so I can get working on the french toast as soon as possible.Location is small and they're cash only, so plan ahead. I've never had to wait too long for a table in the morning, but I imagine they get busy given the size of the restaurant. Overall, great spot for a budget-friendly meal, and run, don't walk, to get the golden lava french toast.

This Hong Kongnese spot is worth the visit for an elevated simple food experience. It reminds me of cha cha tang from awhile ago but the food is very good and worth the price. Service is fast and it definitely gives the small cafe/ small bites place ambiance however they have big plates too haha.

Today I went here while waiting for my dog's grooming, it was on my to try list for a while. I got Satay Beef Noodle Soup and Satay Beef Noodle Soup.Satay beef noodle soup- very good, tender beef, tasty sauce, good broth, noodles were ramen instead of egg noodlesGolden lava french toast- really good, outside had airy crispy texture similar to a youtiao/fried dough, inside had super sweet salted egg yolk with what tasted like maybe some condensed milk. If you ever had a egg custard bun at a dim sum place it tastes similar to that. Very good.
