Kochi is a sister restaurant of Mari and Jua. We were lucky to get a reservation here as a group of 4 just a week out in advance in mid December, though we were seated in an outdoor patio with space heaters. We ordered the tasting menu, abalone to start, and drinks. They had just switched the menu so we enjoyed some elements of surprise. From the tasting menu, the bass fish and American wagyu stood out the most. The halibut was so tender, and the flavoring effectively brought out the freshness of the fish. But the wagyu was actually out of the world--it just melted in our mouths! I also loved one of the desserts, caramel corn ice cream. As small as the puff sorghum was, it was a great complement to the texture of the ice cream and sweetness of the caramel. We had so much fun bantering with the waiters as well. They were personable and down to earth, one of the highlights of our dining experience. I would recommend dining here!

If I could rate it a 3.5 on yelp I would, but because I can't I have to round it down a bit. For the price point, I think I didn't really get the full Michelin experience. The restroom situation is just horrible. I think there's only one restroom and it's really tiny. Im a tiny 5'0" tall girl wearing a Uniqlo puffer and it was small for me. It also didn't feel the cleanest given how small it was and the water was everywhere. Onto the dishes. I think the Wagyu was the best dish and following that the halibut and then the second dessert which was the apple earl grey. I did not like the first dessert (the calamansi) which had a sorbet of some sort and it was way too sour, it was inedible. The rest of the dishes were fine, nothing spectacular. So for that reason I have to give it a 3 star experience. And because we were seated outside, and the details I noted about the restroom, it didn't feel like a Michelin experience for me. Service was good though.

Astonishing experience here! The courses were designed so perfectly. Starting with the corn soup, I was astonished by the how much flavor was in this soup, it was a great balance of sweet and savory and was just a really great first course. Every other dish was also incredible, but some stand outs were the wagyu of course, halibut, and the desserts. The wagyu was cooked perfectly and melted right into your mouth and sat on top of the most delicious risotto I've ever had. The halibut was also so well done. Surprisingly, the broth it came with was the star of the dish, extremely tasty and full flavor, contrasting the tender, mild flavor of the halibut. Lastly, THE DESSERTS. They started with the calamansi sorbet which was so refreshing! It had pieces of citrus fruit in it as well and was a perfect palate cleanse. Then, they finished with an apple earl grey popsicle, which was such a fun and creative dessert. Two flavors that you wouldn't think to pair, paired so perfectly together. They also had a surprise birthday dish for me, which was so kind of them and also absolutely amazing! I wish it was on the main menu for everyone to try. It was some kind of passionfruit dessert and it was probably my favorite out of all the desserts. Of course, there were some nit picky things about some of the courses that I didn't enjoy, but overall the flavors were incredible and the presentation was well thought out. The service here was also very detailed. My partner informed our waitress that he has a grapefruit allergy before we were served any food and she said that they would sub it out in the first dessert. As the dessert was served, a different waitress accidentally served us the wrong one, but the Maître D'hôtel was there to correct her before she put down the plates, which to me was very impressive because he wasn't even the one who we informed about the allergy. The restaurant itself is very intimate, and did not have that many tables, but I actually enjoyed the setting a lot. It didn't feel too crowded, but it was lively because everyone was close together but not too loud. This restaurant inspired me to keep trying more fine dining restaurants.

If I could I'd give them 100 stars. Best meal we have had in the past 2 years. My wife and I had brunch here and split the squash salad, tostadas. Shrimp burger, and French toast for dessert. Wow - each item was beautifully made and so delicious without being heavy. Service was quick and gracious. Decor was lovely. We will definitely come back the next time we are in NYC.

I came here for the Christmas Eve dinner and it was amazing! We did have to wait 30 minutes for our reserved bar seat, but they did apologize and provided us with rose because of our wait. We found every dish to be plated beautifully and the textures and tastes were delicious! I absolutely enjoyed the experience and would come back to try the regular set menu. Service was great as well. We were full, but the dessert courses were delectable as well so we were extra full by the end of the meal.

Wow! Where to start? This was my first Michelin Star Restaurant experience and it did not disappoint! Every course was plated so beautifully and the descriptions for how to eat it to enjoy it best was amazing! Every course (there were 9) had different textures, flavors, & combinations that my taste buds were celebrating every time!! I wish I could go back and eat it all again! The service was amazing, everyone was so helpful and attentive to our needs and the restaurant was very cozy in this NYC winter!

Absolutely an incredible meal here -- everything was perfect, every dish beautiful, flawless really. It's hard to pick a favorite of the courses -- perhaps the wagyu. Perhaps the second dessert. But really there were only high points and higher points. Each successive dish contrasted neatly from the one before -- palate cleansers were sharp.(No need, I felt, to do any of the add-ons. The American wagyu, for example, was perfect. I'm sure the Japanese wagyu would be amazing, but I didn't see the need to pay an addition $60 for it. Slight regret, on the other hand, of not adding the urchin to the bibimbap.)If there was anything I'd knock, it would be the service -- but only slightly. Food was prompt and service was friendly, but a little awkward with the placement of dishes in front of us (some coming in from the right, some from the left). It's not a big deal at all -- or not for me. I didn't dock any stars for it.I've also eaten at their sister restaurant Mari, which my husband and I also loved. I'd be hard pressed to choose between the two. Feel very lucky to have two amazing restaurants like this in the neighborhood.

Food was a 10 out of 10! Came on a Saturday evening with some friends, 4 people in total and we had the pre-fix menu. The whole evening from start to finish was great; every single dish was meticulously crafted- look so beautiful in the plate. The waiters were attentive but since we were a group of four enjoying the night going through different drinks on the menu they weren't coming around too often, they gave us space. The menu is very creative from the little entrees to the dessert! The only bad comment I have about this magnificent place was that that the music was a little louder than I'd like it for a place like this. However, there were many big groups doing the pre-fix menu that evening and it wasn't a spoiler, more of an observation- maybe some music that would go with the place? Not the 100 pop hits of the 2000's. I will def go back again and dine here...

Food was so delicious and creative. It was a 9 course tasting menu and we added on the abalone. Then they also gave us an additional dessert to celebrate our anniversary. The abalone, bibimbap, and earl grey dessert were our favorite menu items but they were honestly all delicious. We were very full at the end as well so portions were good. Service was very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is small and intimate. There is covered outdoor seating as well. We did think the plates were kind of small for some of the dishes so it made it somewhat challenging to eat at times. But overall great experience and would recommend!
