Came here for dinner on a Friday night and the restaurant was completely packed. We ordered the pork belly nabe to share for 2 people and the staff members cooked for us at the table. The nabe was delicious and perfect for the cold, rainy weather. The interior is well decorated and gives off the vibe of japan. Loved my experience here!

Super cozy and delicious food! We got a table in their backyard area, but it had heaters and was still pretty warm, though I sat by the door which kept opening, so it was cold. We went on a 28 degree day, and got the first hotpot option with their signature soup, and felt great in the cold weather. We also got the salmon and signature roll. Both were solid. We got athe asahi beer and Yuzu sake as well. The sake tasted like juice and was pretty sweet. Service was also pretty good, they served our first bowl of soup. The soup was a little salty though, so definitely get rice with it!I will say this meal ended up being $70/person, which is quiteeee pricey

I love this place. If you're craving good soup, Kimura is for you. I tried their Collagen Nabu hot pot and they come to your table and cook it for you. The portion is a good size and it's delicious..definitely one of the top hot pots I have had. The service is excellent and they don't make you feel bad if you come dine alone unlike some other restaurants. Dinner time they get pretty busy and when I was there a line of people were waiting for tables so plan accordingly.

Service was nice and attentive. The food and drinks were tasty. The yuzu highball was refreshing and a little sweet. The special sushi rolls had nice quality fish.

Cuisine: 8Service: 8Decor: 7Value: 7Overall: 8One of the few restaurants in NYC that specializing in Japanese hot pot and sukiyaki. On a cold winter day, there are very few things I crave more. The sukiyaki I had before, though pretty good, the quality of the beef versus the price tag does not appeal to me. For that, I much rather go to an old school place like Momokawa. On the other hand, the nabe options are pretty good. My personal favorite is the Hakata Motsunabe, which is full of beef intestines that gives the broth (I prefer classic) its wonderful umami flavor. On my recent visit, the pork belly nabe with miso broth was good too. It's not as good as the one at Ai Ki Ya, but they give you soup replenishment, which is awesome. The restaurant is relatively small, with wooden stalls and tables, old school lanterns, and cute owls as part of the wall decorations. There is often a wait, so not good for groups larger than four people. The service is friendly and more than satisfactory. You will find me here a handful of times every year, especially in the winter.

A cozy Christmas Eve dinner.Came here as the final stop of our NYC food tour and it was a pretty solid choice. We got a bunch of things to try:Kushi katsu mini combo set (shiitake mushroom, shrimp, beef & asparagus): an okay start, the shiitake was a personal fave.Grilled whole squid: nice char with a sweet and savory sauce. Spicy tuna crackers: spicy tuna, crispy rice, avocado, jalapeño, and spicy mayo. This was very good! Double salmon don: featuring thick salmon sashimi and minced salmon, my dining companion ate it all. I guess it was good. Sushi rolls (eel avocado, spicy tuna, shrimp tempura): decent rolls but a tad too much rice. I also got a yuzu highball and it was quite boozy. Service was really good and the atmosphere was nice and cozy. This was such an upgrade from the ramen place it was before. Overall, a pretty good meal and I'd return!

Looove the food here! I've tried their Nabes, sushi rolls and skewers. All always consistent and delicious! The staff will add soup throughout your meal for your nabe and it's very filling. You can get rice or add noodles to your nabe; either udon or ramen- the ramen is like Japanese ramen not instant noodles. The restaurant has booth and table seating with some bar space as well.

There's not many restaurants that do sukiyaki so it was nice to see it on the menu. It was great for a cold winter day. The sukiyaki portion did seem smaller than the other nabes we saw around the restaurant. Personally felt like sukiyaki was a bit pricey at $34 per person since the portion size wasn't big. It was just enough. Sukiyaki tasted not bad but was a little salty near the end. The egg provided was just okay - don't expect Japanese quality eggs. Service was not bad in the beginning but at the end it felt a little rushed. They cleared up our food and then came with the bill immediately. We didn't even ask for the check so it felt like they were rushing us out. Not even mentioning that we could take our time or whatever since he came with the machine. We left and noticed restaurant wasn't even packed and no one was waiting outside. Didn't feel like they had to rush us out like that. Overall: food is okay/ average but felt pricey. The service is ok but felt like we were rushed out.

Was craving a cozy soothing meal after sauntering around outside in cold weather. We put our name down for a table in their outdoor heated space, were quoted ~15min and were seated shortly after that time elapsed. The interior is thoughtfully decorated and staff kindly held doors open for me.I opted for the collagen pork belly hot pot, which arrived warm and took ~10min to come to boil. The broth was super rich; I can see how someone sensitive to saltiness would find it overwhelming. The dish was packed with cabbage, chicken, and ample pork trotter; I would have loved more tofu (there were only a couple pieces) and pork belly in it. The highlight of my meal was actually the beef intestine starter! It was cooked well and served with a luscious savory sauce.Wait staff filled our waters and soups regularly, though we waited a while for our check after asking for it.

Can't believe it took me this long to check out this place - it's the perfect chilly weather meal that feels like a warm hug.Highly recommend the Collagen Nabe - it's packed with delicious (and healthy) pork trotter, tender pork belly, chicken, tofu and cabbage in a flavorful broth. Immediately craved this the day after the meal
