We came here on a weekday for restaurant week with a reservation. When we arrived at opening it was empty, and it didn't get full while we were there so you can walk in. The service was attentive and friendly and the restaurant is clean with plenty of big windows. I ordered the tuna tartare, truffle carbonara, and the matcha mochi french toast. I really enjoyed the the tuna tartare which came with a lot of mix ins and seaweed to wrap it in. The pasta was good with a strong truffle flavor. The matcha mochi french toast was very unique, filing, and tasty, without being too sweet.

Overall the food was fine, but nothing was so amazing that we would want to return. Service was nice. The seats are comfy and there's a good amount of space between tables. We came for dinner. For food, we tried the burrata, octopus, skirt steak, risotto, yakult soft serve, and apple pie. Portions were the right amount. I liked the flavors of the octopus and risotto the most. The desserts were bigger than expected. The apple pie was too doughy and conflicted with the espresso gelato. For drinks, we tried a few of the spritzes and their espresso martini. Drinks were strong.

We got a private room here for our friend's birthday and stayed for a little over 2 hours. I wish the food came out faster; there were pretty long pauses in between courses. Overall, the starters were delicious but I was quite underwhelmed by the pastas. The most memorable dishes for me were the tuna tartare and the eggplant katsu.

4.5 stars. My boyfriend made a reservation for a party of 4 and we were seated immediately. The wait staff was very attentive. We all started with drinks which were creative and the sticky rice curry arancini and broccolini side as appetizers. I definitely recommend the arancini! For mains, two of us got the bigoli and the other two got the rigatoni. The bigoli was a generous portion and had a really fresh and unique citrusy taste with lots of mushrooms and chives. For dessert we got the matcha pana cotta and mochi french toast to share. They were both very well executed. The only thing that was negative was there was no toilet paper in any of the available bathrooms. I would go back again to try other items on the menu!

Spacious dining conducive to catching up with friends. Wasn't too busy so we could hear each other well. The food was slightly underwhelming. The soy butter bigoli was solid - al dente with good umami flavor esp from the mushrooms. The uni pasta was pretty mediocre, it wasn't too fresh and the flavors didn't meld well together. Sticky rice arancini was $26 for what tasted like 3 deep fried rice balls. Wouldn't recommend that appetizer.

I never had a very positive opinion about fusion restaurants until trying Kimika. It really changed things for me, and I've been eager to seek out more upscale fusion ever since. This place is so unique and so memorable, I highly recommend giving it a try. I loved their take on prosciutto pizza and while I think they might have taken it off the menu since the first time I visited, they made a really cool version of lasagna with rice cakes.

Had a reservation for a weekend brunch here. I got the tamago sando and matcha mochi french toast. The tamago sando was so delicious. The side cucumbers added a nice crunch. It wasn't a big dish so I wouldn't recommend ordering just this one dish if you're hungry. The matcha mochi french toast was a great way to end the meal. It was sweet and the custard on top was tasty. Interior was very clean. Bathroom was downstairs and that was also clean. Servers were kind and attentive. Food was amazing. I would come back here for sure.

Kimika manages to bring out the best of Japanese and Italian culinary worlds. The tuna tartare has the fresh fish from Japanese Sushi and the style and seasoning of Tartare. The sticky rice arancini has the inspiration of fried cutlets with rich curry sauce yet with a gentle touch of corn cheese and peas. The bigoli is a unique take on noodles and has just the perfect amount of soy and shiitake to have each ingredient shine without overpowering each other. Portion sizes are on the smaller size but was overall a great experience for both Japanese and Italian cuisine.

RATING: 8.1/10 PRO TIP: Get the tuna tartare and for drinks, get the mugen sour. Strangely enough, a few of my friends have been here independently a few years ago and didn't like their experience. I actually enjoyed it here; perhaps in the past few years there's been sufficient changes to the menu? Anyways here's what we had: TUNA TARTARE A classic, and had plenty of crunchy components and comes with little seaweed slices to make a mini hand taco. Gives you a few bites per person if you have 3 people. I think it was good quality, the veggies were fresh. UNI TOASTThe toast is actually quite buttery and has a gentle crisp itself, while the uni takes the show for how buttery and umami it is. It is buttery without being heavy. Is it the best uni i've had? Not necessarily but I did really enjoy the textures here.BRANZINO Whole steamed branzino which was quite tender, and tasty, with veggies over the top of it (forget what kind) - again, good, enjoyable.PROSCIUTTO SCALLION PANCAKE PIZZAReally good quality scallion pancake - chewy and soft, with a stretch, and lots of prosciutto. One of the more interesting fusion concepts. RIGATONI BOLOGNESE W MISOOn the heavier side, this cheesy rigatoni looks to the naked eye to be a standard pasta dish; even as you're eating it it is italian-flavor forward, and the miso comes in at the end to add an extra boost of savory. Interesting combo. All in all, this italian-japanese fusion restaurant is an interesting take, and I think worth trying. The waiter was super knowledgeable and very helpful in choosing our menu items. The issue with fusion is that often times, the fusion components do not add up to be greater than the sum of their parts. I would say the fusion components here somewhat make sense together, and were generally enjoyable.FINAL CATEGORY: GOOD/GREAT (terrible / bad / ok / GOOD / GREAT / excellent)

Food was very good, and service was great. I enjoyed both the truffle and soy butter pastas, but I don't think I would have enjoyed it as much if I had both on its own. Pastas are slightly expensive, but it is New York. Would recommend, but do not expect to be full
