Keens has graced the NYC dining scene since 1885 and with an eye popping 3,400+ reviews as of this writing, there's not much I can contribute but I'll still offer up a few words. I enthusiastically recommend the taste of mutton and the prime porterhouse! They were prepared perfectly and were superb. Mutton is a Keens signature and should not be skipped. If you're unsure about ordering it as your main, the taste is the way to go and can be shared with others. Even the accompanying escarole held its own. Unlike the meats, the sides weren't quite knockouts (roasted veggies and mashed potatoes were what I ate). I was pleased as punch to be able to order Bananas Foster as my dessert since it's not a common offering. It was the perfect end to the meal! The perfect start to the meal was actually my raspberry cooler mocktail. Like sipping summer in winter. The setting is historic and full of character, with a variety of rooms you can be seated in, upstairs or downstairs. Keens used to be a Herald Square theater scene gathering spot and was also famous for storing churchwarden pipes for its regulars. They're the pipes with the ultra long and thin stems. In our dining room, they covered the ceiling! Service was professional and attentive.

Fantastic spot. Food is expensive but that's expected for what you're getting. The restaurant itself had an awesome atmosphere especially with the clay pipes. One of our steaks was pretty undercooked but we didn't plan on sending back but they insisted. A man who I'm guessing was the manager or owner came over to personally apologize. We came in late around 9:30 and ended up being the only table in the room we were in. The waitress talked to us for about half an hour and was incredible the whole night. Great experience

Second time coming here. First time we sat in the dining room, this time we decided to sit at the the bar for a quicker meal. Came back for the famous mutton chops - tasted better the first time in my opinion, but still really good, especially if you like lamb. The cauliflower soup was really flavorful and the wedge salad with bacon and tomatoes also hit the spot.Food was great, but only reason it was four stars and not five is because of the bartender who served us, Brett. At least that's the name that was on the receipt because he never told us his name. He had a really off-putting attitude like he didn't want to be there. When the food came out he literally dropped the plate in front of us instead of setting it down. When I asked for more water, he refilled my glass, but didn't even bother to say a word. Not a single word. Not a "sure thing" or a "here you go". Dude really needs an attitude adjustment or he shouldn't be working in the service industry. He definitely has anger issues. We got much better service from the barback Servando who was courteous and was doing most of the heavy lifting anyway the entire time we were there. Will be back for another steak again, but will probably skip the bar next time. Avoid Brett if you can, unless you want to be treated like trash.

I know I've been saying iconic alot on these reviews. This place is all that and more the iconic pipers club turned steakhouse has been a New York staple for centuries. Service is great, top of the line staff. The decor is really a walk through history. It's a true gem, they have a great bar as well. Very nice.

This is an iconic place that is worth anyone's time to eat and experience the ambiance and culture. Just old school New York. Worth the time and money to experience. The mutton Chop is unreal. And if you just come during the lunch hours they serve a half size portion. Just called the taste of mutton that is half the price and still every bit amazing and something everyone need to try once!!!

Consistently the best filet mignon you can find in NYC. The bearnaise sauce is equally delicious. The red berry bibble for dessert is so good. I'd recommend not spending money on the oysters.

Best steakhouse in New York City and the prices are reasonable compared to competitor steakhouses.Keen's is an iconic New York restaurant, been around for over 100 years and the decor has the charm: dimmed lighting, wood furniture, pictures of celebrities on the wall. The service is top tier. Everyone from front of the house, to servers and bus boys work hard. If you're looking to treat yourself, or a night out with family & friends, you can't go wrong picking Keen's.

NYC is famous for steakhouses. Keen's is one of the oldest and you feel transported back in time when dining here. It's the old world fine dining experience, waiters standing by and doing everything they can to make it a perfect dining experience. The look and feel of the rooms are also historic, wood paneled walls with genuine old artifacts on the walls. You can just imagine dining here a hundred years ago and it feeling much the same. The food was fantastic, as expected for a steakhouse like this. I'd previously dined at the bar and gotten the sirloin, but this time we got a table and it was worth it. I got the T-bone medium rare and every bite was delicious. My wife got the famous mutton chop. She liked hers, hadn't had much mutton before but she figured try the signature dishes. While she liked it, she wasn't too keen on carving it up. So she said next time she'd probably get the prime rib. Onto the sides, we both loved the carrots in brown butter. We normally like creamed spinach as well but maybe it was an off night. We were part of the last sitting so maybe that had something to do with it. Next time we'll probably just stick to 1 side since the mains are so large and hers came with some veggies anyways. While reservations for a table in the rooms is required, there is some first come first served downstairs and at the bar. But if you want the full dining experience definitely make reservations weeks ahead of time. This is definitely a special occasion place, but oh so worth it.

Came here for our Anniversary lunch. we could not snag a reservation for dinner so we lunched it. I been meaning to dine here because of Bourdain, viral social media, and really wanted to try the mutton. The entrees were great. the old fashion was strong. the side were eh. $17 for string beans,$11 for baked potato, $18 for mushrooms was insane. $73 for tbone and mutton I'm okay with. I need to mine more BTC.Service was great. our waiter and runner were on point. will come back but please don't hate me about the sides.

I came here to celebrate my bf birthday at Keens Steakhouse. It's very historic inside the restaurant. We ordered the filet mignon and mutton chop. I kept seeing people saying the mutton chop is their signature dish and is a must try, so I did. I honestly didn't enjoy the mutton chop as much because it's too gamey and lots of fat. But I do want to say they have a long list of desserts on their menu and we got the Lady M chocolate cake. It was so good! Service wasn't bad here. Overall, Keens is an iconic steakhouse, perfect for a classic NYC dining experience.
