Kazumi is a lovely pop up restaurant with an intimate space and attentive service. The menu is small but every dish is wonderfully designed with unique flavor pairings. Half of their menu is vegan-friendly. Spoiler alert: they will open a permanent location in June/July!*Chicken Karaage***This chicken karaage was TO DIE FOR -- the caramelized sugar lemon on the side took it to a whole new level. The boneless chicken was so tender and juicy with a thin deep-fried batter. The meat was extremely refreshing after squeezing the lemon and dipping in honey mustard sauce. * Handrolls - Salmon Yuzu, Tuna, Yellowtail**Y'all need to order their handrolls! The sashimi piece was thick and long enough to cover the vinegar rice. It would be a pain to pick which handroll I like more. They layered up the flavors of each piece with house sauces, shiso leaf, fried leek, avocado etc. Wish they would add a handroll set in the future. *Pork Cutlet CurryThe curry was a blend of shredded meat, mashed potatoes, tomatoes and grapes (yes grapes!). The pork loin cutlets were crispy and not heavily breaded. The meat was a bit dry, yet it was cut in thin slices so it didn't bother me much. I found the multigrain rice even more enjoyable than white rice with its crunchiness. *Matcha Crème Brûlée**WE LOVED THIS. Matcha flavor is strong. The caramelized top and creamy matcha custard complemented really well. Trust me, their crème brûlée is the best dessert to finish off your meal. *Vegan Matcha CheesecakeThis cheesecake was homey and light. Matcha flavor was tasteable but not very strong. The raspberry compote added a nice touch to it. I liked the crunchy biscuit layer on the bottom. *Yuzu White Peach Sparkling*Virgin Green Tea MojitoTheir Japanese-inspired mocktails were great and not too sweet (very rare for mocktails). Very refreshing to drink along with your meal.

A cute neighborhood spot for casual lunch. The restaurant is very small, 4-6 tables, but it's cozy. The menu is simple and no fuss which I liked not being overwhelmed with options. Starting off with the Agedashi Tofu: Three pieces of tofu in tsuyu sauce. Light and crispy, with a savory but not too salty broth. It came with fried enoki mushrooms. Some grated radish would've been a nice touch. Chicken Karaage: This was my personal favorite. The chicken pieces were tender and juicy, while crispy on the outside. The portion came with a decent amount of chicken which was shareable between three.Shoyu Ramen: Not a standout dish, but seeing as it's not specifically a ramen restaurant, it was standard! Not amazing but not bad. Pork Cutlet Curry: As someone who loves Japanese curry, this hit the spot! Warm flavorful curry with crispy tonkatsu. However, I think it would taste better served with fluffy white rice! Also I think it was served with a side of grapes which was seemed odd unless it's a new food trend I'm unaware of. Overall, would definitely come back! They seem to do fried foods well, hopefully they can introduce tempura or a katsu sando would be amazing.

Came here for lunch on a cold Sunday afternoon for lunch. We had a reservation for 12:30PM and were the first ones there. We got seated quite quickly and got to ordering! The place was quaint and had a few tables. The menu isn't too large so not much of an issue ordering. We got the Katsu curry over rice, tonkatsu ramen, pork gyoza and karaage.Karaage came out first and it was a fantastic start. It wasn't too heavily battered and had a great amount of meat with the right tenderness. The ramen came out after and honestly, was just ok. It was Kyoto style and the soup was a bit weirdly flavored.Pork gyoza was nice and crispy with great filling but the favorite had to be the curry Katsu over multigrain rice. The Katsu was crispy and the curry had a nice little kick to it to warm your soul up. Overall, great meal and experience.

3.5/5 stars. Came here on a rainy Sunday for dinner. The restaurant is quite small so we had to wait 20 minutes for the previous table to finish because there's only one table that can seat 4, but the server kept apologizing about that. We started off with the hijiki salad, which was nothing special. It came on top of a bed of arugula, but nothing about the salad stood out. Then, I got the pork cutlet curry, which came on multigrain rice and had a small side of grapes and tomatoes. The katsu itself was okay, I think I would've expected it to be cooked for bit longer (the breading was crispy but still fairly light in color). Overall I though the menu was pretty simple (which is great), but I didn't leave feeling super full. For a $22 curry, I would have expected a bit more food than what we got.

Small pop-up with a simple menu, the Kazumi popup delivers popular Japanese dishes such as ramen, handrolls, and Japanese curry. Pros: I'm not usually a fan of shio ramen, but I found it surprisingly flavorful and clean to the taste. The highlight was the soy sauce-marinated eggs, perfectly cooked and not too salty. The waiter was attentive as I was the only customer there when I visited. Cons: The handrolls could be larger given the price point of around $9 per piece. It was basically the size of a sushi but the taste was decent. Would visit again to try the curry!

My friend and I visited for a late Sunday lunch. We had a reservation for 3:00 PM, but we arrived 10 minutes early. Since the resturant was not too busy at that time, we were able to be seated early. The atmosphere was small and cozy, and was a great place to grab food and catch up with friends. The menu was on the more limited side, but it had great options for what my friend and I wanted to eat for the day. We started with a Chicken Karaage. It came with the karaage and a caramelized lemon. I thought this was such an unique choice as I haven't previously seen this combination at other places that serve karaage. The karaage itself was tender with a light, crispy batter. However, I think a dipping sauce would have elevated the experience even further. For my main course, I got the Pork Cutlet Curry, which pleasantly surprised me with its inclusion of purple multigrain rice rather than regular white rice, which was a great touch to the dish. There was also a salad of grape, yellow cherry tomato, and sweet cherry tomato. It brought more flavors and blended perfectly with the curry. The katsu had a really nice crunch. This dish was innovative, making it one of the most memorable katsu dishes I had.Our server's attententiveness added to the overall experience. His brief explanations of each dish heightened our anticipation and made it a more intimate meal. Overall, it was a great meal and dining experience. I am looking forward to coming back to try other dishes.

Came here on a freezing night for ramen. The place is very small, which is fine because we expected it as it is a pop up. But just letting people know so they're not surprised when they go.As an appetizer we got a handroll. It's honestly on the pricier side. While it tasted good, for the price point I'm not sure if I'd get it again (regularly sized). We did get a complimentary vegan hand roll which was a pleasant surprise!I got the tonkotsu ramen. It tasted very clean and rather simple. I actually wasn't the biggest fan of the pork that was in it. It tasted a little undercooked than what I'd prefer and was chewier than expected. I really like the pork in my ramen to almost melt in your mouth. The broth was really good though (like I said, felt very clean!) ramen can end up hurting my stomach with all of the sodium. But I ended up slurping my whole bowl feeling quite good! I do wish the serving sizes were bigger for the price.
