This is my absolute favorite pizza spot in NYC. It's got all that a slice needs: perfect ratio of sauce to cheese, great crunch on a thin slice and perfect seasoning to the sauce. The only downside is that you can order a slice you have to order the whole pie. In terms of service they're always super kind and the line moves pretty quickly which is nice as they are pretty efficient with your time. The place is old school and has a nice old school vibe which is really nice because it just feels like a timeless spot in there. Every time I'm in NYC, I make it a point to make it out to John's. I got a normal cheese pizza and it never disappoints.

I really, really wanted to like it. The only reason I gave it a 3 was for the excellent service. The crust was a bit burnt and cardboard ish. The sauce is acidic but had a nice spicy kick. The cheese was rubbery. It's definitely NOT the best pizza in the city but has a cool vibe.

The Margherita pizza here is just AMAZING!! NY style, cooked to perfection with the right amount of sauce and ingredients - def can't recommend it enough. We came at night during the week so we were lucky and didn't have to wait to get sited but usually there is a long line. We order half Margherita and half pepperoni based on our server suggestions and both were very good. It came 5 mins after we order! The service was good and pricing was surprisingly very good too (for some reason I thought it would be more expensive).

BEST PIZZA I HAVE EVER HAD. Worth the wait in line. The classic cheese was my favorite but you can never go wrong with pepperoni. Skip the meatballs and save room for pizza. Btw: Take out is only whole pie. The ambiance was classic pizza parlor vibes and felt so homey. I loved looking at all the framed pictures on the wall.

*Unofficial "highly rated NYC pizza" trail review*None of us had been here before. It was good, not the best, but good.We got in line around 5 (smart, because it got way longer while we were waiting) and got seated around 5:45. For being such a busy place, it was nice that the service wasn't rushed (ahem, Lucali) while we were there - in fact, we had to put in some effort to get the bill at the end. Pizza #1 - cheese. Always. Very saucy, a little sweet, but tasty. Good crust, not too soft and not too burnt (even though I do like a good coal-fired crust).Pizza #2 - many meats and veggies. We may have added too much because the pizza was a bit loose, but the salt from the meats added an additional layer of flavor that we really liked. Calzone - cheese and one meat. It wasn't quite the gooey calzone we're used to and could have used a little more support for dipping. Would not repeat. A gigantic Peroni was only $9 and while the red wine was also inexpensive it was also oddly sweet. Overall: Worth trying but not my go to. Not worth a giant line, but a solid pie nonetheless. Just get a few toppings to add that needed touch of salt.

John's of Bleecker was one of our food stops during a recent trip to NYC. The place, undoubtedly, has a long history and reputation with their traditional coal fired pizza. We visited on an early Tuesday evening, and there was no wait... which, based on other reviews, seems like a rare occurrence. The two of us were seated immediately in one of their charming front window booths... the wood table and paneled walls were etched with enough initials to prove its history in Greenwich Village, and the art was a mix of old photographs and delightful drawings... do you see the cat?! This place is a time capsule. The vibe, the overall experience, was so classically New York. In that regard, it was a memorable experience. And the heart of the pizza (pepperoni, sausage, and mushroom!) was delicious!Things that I didn't love? The entire edge of our pizza was burnt, and it wasn't just char marks. I don't usually skip the crust, but it was honestly inedible. Also, R.C. Cola was not on my bingo card that day, but that's what they serve. I don't think R.C. is anyone's favorite, so it was bizarre. Lastly, putting "Sorry, no Ranch!" on the menu is an unnecessary poke at those who like it.Here's the thing: I don't think they're in the business of making everyone happy, and that's ok. They will continue to show up on lists for best NYC pizza places, and now TikToks from food creators. I just happen to prefer my pizza with non-burnt edges and a side of ranch.

We came here due to a recommendation when visiting New York.We didn't know that they didn't sell any slices. You have to order a whole pie. Thankfully, we were able to finish it.We got a classic pepperoni pizza. Overall, it was pretty good. It wasn't my favorite from all the pizzas we had in New York, but we really like the ambience of the location. It's really cool how they had all the photos of different celebrities that have tried their pizza.I'm definitely glad we got to try it, but not sure if I would hit it up again coming back to New York.

Great place to get pepperoni pizza for takeout and eat it in washingston square park.I've heard people rave about this place but I kinda don't get the hype. It's a solid pizza but I don't think it would be #1 in a blind taste test vs. my local neighborhood pizzeria. The guy at the front was nice / had good service. Ambiance inside is exactly what people want to see in a traditional pizza establishment.

You can never go wrong with John's.If the line is too long, you can order to-go and eat outside the resto. Always fresh and delicious! Make sure to ask for the red pepper flakes.
