This place is perfect for a Sunday meal! I've been coming here for almost 4 years now. The best soup dumpling spot in all of Turtle Bay. I highly recommend the spicy crispy beef and sesame cold noodle.Bar seats are awesome because you can watch the cooks hammer out soup dumplings as you eat your food. Definitely will keep coming back!

i came here a couple of times and each time its a banger!the service was fine, they were nice. vibes were nice too, but went during the holidays and it was very packed. but we're here for the food!!the soup dumplings were a bajillion stars. never had soup dumplings prior to coming to Joe's and i was completely blown away. the flavor of the broth was perfect temperature, meat had a perfect bite, and the dough was just riiight!also got the noodles - they were fine. but the crispy shredded spicy beef were also out of this world!! absolutely loved it and even after it sitting there for 10 min while we had the soup dumplings, they remained nice and crispy.would constantly come back here.

A couple of NYPD Officers who were working recommended this place to us and are we glad we asked them for a spot to eat!We had never tried Soup Dumplings and they were so good we had to order another batch. We also had the sesame chicken and it was too good. It had the right amount of batter and wasn't oily at all.Everyone should go here and definitely get the soup dumplings!

We came here to finally try the soup dumplings and they were delectable. We tried the pork and crab and the pork. Wow! These were tasty, nourishing and so filling. Service was impeccable and the place was clean. We will definitely be returning for these soup dumplings.

When the clock strikes 11:30 and this place opens, it's always got a full house. The dumplings are delicious, made fresh right in front of you, and the the service is fast. The chicken soup dumplings were an absolute classics. I also got the steamed pork dumplings and they were full of meat and so filling I absolutely loved them both. The general tsos chicken left something to be desired. It wasn't spicy in any sense of the word, but it was clearly made fresh. Lunch specials are on the back of the menu and they have lots of options.

The BEST soup dumplings I've had. Which is crazy because I've had some amazing soup dumplings. Sometimes with crab and pork dumplings, other places will put like the tiniest amount of crab fat. Joe's did not play around with the crab meat. The crab and pork soup dumplings were legit to die for AND the service was super great and fast!!

Generally speaking, I do enjoy a good Joe's Home of Soup Dumplings visit. I think their food is solid, I appreciate the midtown lunch special, and it's a really bright and pretty place. I like the soup dumplings in terms of the flavor, but I swear, I've never broken as many soup dumplings anywhere as I have at Joe's. I don't know if it's a ME problem, but I'm choosing to blame the skin on these dumplings, which I wish were just a bit more fortified so I could (1) enjoy the soup and (2) stop being embarrassed every time I break the skin. I am a soup dumpling eater, so I swear the breakage really shouldn't be happening. I also got their rice cakes, which come in a really good portion size. I wish they had slightly more soy sauce, but the chewiness of the rice cakes were exactly what I was craving. My friend got the lunch special, and it came with SO much food which is appreciated. For the food and portions, I'd give it four stars..... but I did find a hair in my food, which is bringing it down to three.

I came here for dinner with my friend on a weekday and didn't have a wait. Unfortunately, I was not impressed with this place. We ordered the Scallion Pancakes, Crab Pork Soup Dumplings, Hong Kong Hot & Sour Soup and Orange Chicken. All the dishes were ok - no favorites and I've definitely had better soup dumplings in the city. What really turned me off is that they didn't bring us the sauce with the soup dumplings and when we asked for it, they looked like we had 5 heads. We had to ask 3 different people to get that sauce that is a staple must for soup dumplings. Very strange!

Went here in late September for a work outing with dumplings! It's a bit pricey, I recommend going with friends so you can try things family style. The dumplings are *GOOD*, all flavors but pork is my favorite. Their Scallion Pancakes are great too! I'd definitely go again. They also made sure all our waters were full all the time.

The original Joe's Shanghai (on Pell) used to have the best dumplings, egg fried rice and scallion pancakes. But even before they started expanding space/locations the food flavor started to decline and, from my recent first-time experience at this Midtown location, it has not improved. The dumplings had soup but lacked flavorfulness. The fried rice used to be so impressive because it had so much flavor (wok-hay) and so few ingredients -- it says a lot when a restaurant can impress you with a simple ingredient dish -- but the rice we had was fairly bland and had no wok fire flavor. The scallion pancakes were thick, not very crispy and didn't have enough scallion. They've stopped selling spicy pickled cabbage all together. Not related to the food, but the place was packed with business diners. My family used to absolutely love Joe's Shanghai and would be impressed by how a touristy staple could maintain such authentic taste. But the food we ate at Joe's on 48th tasted more like an everyday, basic Chinese spot that wasn't too notable.
