Cheeseburger. Alright. Juicy patty but smaller than most in the area. Fries are a bit over-salted and not crispy enough.

Wow! My old hood is stepping up its game with this place!! if you haven't been to Inga, yet, I recommend you try it immediately. Especially if you live in or around Brooklyn Heights. It's in the building that used to house the restaurant Jack the Horse Tavern.Everything we tried on our first visit there was off the chain. The two standouts for me, however, had to be the Victor Salad and the Mortadella. The Victor Salad's star ingredient is celery--sounds crazy for a salad, right? But, whoah!! The celery is actually boiled in vegetable broth until soft and then placed along side other ingredients such as greens, Parmesan, and anchovies. It's unbelievable!! Oh, and that Mortadella--creamy, succulent, and just brilliant. As for mains, try the cheeseburger! Nom!!Since converting over to Ingas, the interior aesthetic didn't change much--it's still dark, quaint and perfect for a date night. But they did reorganize the interior footprint a bit, so it seems a tad more spacious. Finally, I'll send a final shout out to Ingas for the service, which was perfection!! Try this place soon! You will not be disappointed.

Inga's may have been here for over a year already, but I'm somehow just checking out this successor to one of my favorite spots in this part of Brooklyn: Jack the Horse Tavern. (Only old people recall the businesses of yesteryear, and this is fitting because I turned old recently). And I'm glad I did. The room and crowd is just as convivial as it once was, the service is outstanding, and the cocktails are well-balanced and delicious (although I think they could use better ice). We liked the Modern Romance, and they know their way around the classics as well. The food is executed very well. Anyone can find something they like on this menu (including the excellent burger), but there's also some avant garde twists. I'd never heard of the Celery Victor before, but I really enjoyed the weird and wonderful braised celery salad, topped with mustard seeds and chunks of cheese. We started with that, a fluke crudo, and the fried deviled egg, topped high with bacalao and some trout roe. (I was more into it than she was.)As far as mains are concerned, the pork chop is outstanding, with charred onion jam rounding out the whole dish, and the halibut with its mushroom broth and parsnip puree is probably my favorite bite, although it was a laughably small portion for $35. And therein lies the rub. I know we're in Brooklyn Heights. I know there are $12 million dollar brownstones down the street. But if you're going to charge these prices ($14 for two deviled eggs that were a bit too fishy?), everything needs to fantastic. Again, I'm an old man, but dinner for two should only be $250 if everything lives up to that price point. Then again, the room was quite full on a Friday, so maybe I'm off. Perhaps a few celebrity sightings had to do with that. I like it, but for me, the prices push it into special occasion territory, when it's actually a neighborhood restaurant.

Side note: Menu is from one of their Instagram posts. It might be updated now with higher prices and different dishes.Anyway, I'm not sure if I ordered the wrong dishes or something but I didn't exactly have an experience matching a lot of other reviewers. The staff here was friendly whether it was the bartender or the waitstaff and the atmosphere was nice playing mostly pretty quiet indie music. To drink I got Otto's Negroni with vaguely lists gin, aperitif, and vermouths which was $15 though I was tempted to order the Lovers Rock. I asked what was in it making sure that this wasn't using some type of overly sweet vermouth or aperitif and they said the ingredients and that it was on the bitter end with a touch of sweetness with some orange flavor. Satisfied with the response, I ordered it and it was tasty and exactly as described. I'm not sure why the menu doesn't list the ingredients but it was tasty so whatever. To start out with, I got a Shrimp Salad (don't remember the exact name) which I presume was something around $16. It was served with I think 5/6 raw shrimp, mayo, lettuce, crackers, and lemon. The shrimp were plump but not sweet and the mayo sauce was very light and it was overall bland and not worth it with the presumably Ritz crackers didn't exactly help either. I don't see the dish on the menu anymore which I kind of don't mind as I wouldn't recommend ordering it anyway. I partially went here as I wanted to try another burger in the area having been to Henry Public enough times. The Cheeseburger which was $20 or $21 was served with pickles, onions, and mayo. It was the same price as the Henry Public one with cheese though the cheese here was American which I definitely don't prefer. While I found it juicier compared to that spot, it was definitely a lot smaller, the bun was worse, and the fries were worse both less crispy and overly salted. The pickles were standard. The burger was...alright but not as good overall.I don't exactly get the reviews here outside of perhaps people being happy that the chef opened up a new restaurant. While I liked my cocktail and found it reasonably priced, the appetizer was pretty terrible and the burger wasn't anything better than the local spot and in many ways worse. They have some interesting Italian influenced dishes which might be a bit better and I likely should have gotten the Celery Victory over the shrimp but it would take a good amount of convincing for me to come back there otherwise. Low 3/upper 2.

First off the Resy reservation system which I reserved with a credit card never showed on the restaurants end. Thank goodness a table was luckily available. additionally a menu must be a100% accurate. In my case it wasn't. We ordered fish from the menu and then 15 minutes later, the kitchen informed us that the fish ordered was NOT available. c'mon man. Finally the noise level prevented any conversation. Too many other restaurants in the neighborhood are available. '

Great service, delicious food- but very loud.Loved:Duck confit- tender and flavored with a nice spice that really made the dish stand out. Arctic char- cooked to perfection: super crispy skin, tender meat. Loved the herbaceous chimichurri style sauce they used to bring a new freshness to the dish. My only complaint was that the place was super loud- although we did go on a Saturday night. It was hard to hear, and we had to shout the whole night to have a conversation, even with folks sitting directly across from me.

Most great restaurants can be good at 2 out of 3: food, service, ambience. Inga's is all 3. the real deal. Secret neighborhood joint. Chestnut soup is unlike anything you've ever tastted. New fave spot.
