Valentine's Day dinner was a total win here! The service was impeccable--shoutout to the staff for taking my peanut allergy seriously, I really appreciated that. Every dish was bursting with flavor: the ribs, cucumbers, shrimp spring rolls, prawns, and lamb were all top-notch. Drinks were on point, too. I loved the Yuzu drop. If you're looking for a place where both the food and service are outstanding, this is it! Love the cozy speakeasy vibe too!

I came here for dinner but would honestly only recommend this place for drinks. Like other reviews, the ambiance and decor are incredible as well as the design touches made for the menu, but the food was very average. I had made a reservation for dinner on a Thursday night, and thankfully we got one of the booths which was comfortable and pretty spacious. Our service throughout the meal was awesome, nothing to complain about. I got the lychee bellini drink and thought it was good, although it is crazy that the least expensive cocktail is already $17. The food was where I was really disappointed. We started off with a few appetizers: cold sesame noodles, tofu salad, and calamari. The calamari was the best dish and everything else was so mid. Honestly, we were going to get more food, but after the appetizers, we decided to skip the entrees and just head out.

Came here on Thanksgiving night. It was recommended by Open table and it looked intriguing. Luckily a friend told us how to get in because it was definitely hard to find. The ambiance is really what you pay for. It's a cool speakeasy vibe with eastern Asian flair. The furniture is cool and the details down to the menu design are pretty awesome. The menu isn't super expansive but it is pricey. I'm from Taiwan and China, so I've had my fair share of all things Chinese and fusion and this was solidly in the middle for me. The best part was probably just the simple eggplant although it was served kinda cold and it would be more tasty if it were hot. The chili wontons were a pass for me! The wonton wrapper was hard to chew and dry versus soft and silky. The sauce wasn't bad. Overall a fun experience but not somewhere I'd be dying to visit again. Service was also great and the drinks were tasty (I only tried the non alcoholic soda but my husband said his lychee drink was yummy).

I came here for dinner with my brother. The location is not too far from my job and is in walking distance. It's located in the tin building on the second floor. You have to look for it because it's behind another store so you have to enter through the Mercantile store and you'll see some black drapes that are drawn. You have to pull back the drapes to enter the restaurant and there's a large restaurant behind this Mercantile store. Kind of reminds you of a speakeasy or a geisha house. The menu was surprisingly small, but had some decent options. I ordered the Steam Black Sea Bass with Ginger, scallion, chili, and coriander. The fish was tender, and flaky, and had good flavor It was very good. We ordered a dish of Dungeness crab fried rice for the table that we shared. The rice was good. It was really good, but it wasn't great. The service was exceptional. They pay attention to every detail and were very responsive. The decor was beautiful the reds and the black, the linens and the lights. Everything was presented with special care.

We stumbled upon this restaurant on a whim last year while exploring the Tin building and found the aesthetics and design so charming that we said we wanted to come try the food some time. Just like we expected, the vibes of this place are fantastic - it felt like a combination of old school China with a modern Chinese twist. I would highly recommend this if you're looking for a cute date place, but unfortunately the food was disappointing. While tasty, the prices were astronomical and not worth it just for the food alone. You come here for the ambience and for real affordable Chinese food, you walk towards Chinatown.

I finally came here for dinner. I usually just come for drinks at the bar. The food is really good. Very tasty. Better than Tao. And just as expensive as Tao. The lomain w wagu beef $58! Unnecessary indulgence! You can't even appreciate the wagu. Skip it. The hot n soup soup was very good. The friend rice was very good. The wonton was exquisite. The cocktail drinks are nice. Service was courteous n nice. They let us sit for 3 hours. Live the red walls. Great ambience.

The ambiance carries this establishment. I love the decor & the hidden speakeasy vibe. The food on the other hand was very lackluster & definitely not worth it for the price. The crab fried rice included a lot of pieces of crab but it was just lacking flavor. The tuna tartare had too much of a zest that was overpowering the entire dish. I like the flavor of sesame cold noodles but the portion was small. At least the lychee cocktail was good.

Food: 3.5/5 | Service: 4/5 | Experience: 3/5This fine dining Chinese establishment was a let down. For a restaurant that does not have that many dishes in the first place, I had high expectations for the food that was served, especially for the price. Tables were quite close to each other for the parties of 2.We ordered the pork and shrimp wontons, chicken with broccoli, and the stir-fried lamb. The wontons are good, but I was surprised to only see 5, especially for the price. The chicken with broccoli had too much cornstarch? or something that made the sauce lumpy and the dish itself was a bit bland with overcooked chicken. The lamb was tender and flavored well, but the portion size was quite small.

The House of The Red Pearl has been one of my favorite restaurants since it opened. The food is fresh and delicious. The servers are all friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Walking into the House of the Red Pearl; after passing the heavy velvet curtain at the door; feels as if you are transported into 1940s pre-war East Asian Speakeasy. If you have a chance to step in and get your hands on a drink and a bite... it won't be your last time.

Agree with everyone that the decor and interior design and service are top notch, and food is mid. Had the Dungeness crab fried rice and the rice was hard. Fortune cookie sundae was wonderful and beautiful though! The advertisements for restaurant week were misleading. Said it will go until February 9, and went there on a Friday night, the 7th. In person, they said that they don't do restaurant week on Fridays. That was nowhere mentioned on their website- Which only offered dinner, and not lunch menus. When I had tried calling beforehand to make sure about what days restaurant week is observed in the evening, I just got automated responses that referred to the website.
