A great spot for dim sum that's clean, affordable, and with quick service. This place is large and there is a wide variety of dishes they serve in their carts that is able to cater to any taste. We shared a table with another duo which is pretty common and were immediately served tea. I love the attentive and speedy service as we were greeted by the carts fairly fast as well. The food is very fresh and the tea is hot. I wholeheartedly recommend a visit with a group!

My friend was in town and I really wanted to take her to dim sum. House of Joy is one of the only places (that I have found) that still has carts in NYC - so I was excited about that. We only waited for 15 minutes. The entire place was packed but they were doing a great job of getting people in and out. Since we were a party of 2, we shared a table with one other person. A lot of tables were shared with strangers actually. We also weren't rushed at all when we were finished eating and drinking our tea. You do have to ask for what you need/want though. I had to ask for ice water and soy sauce. We got :- bok choy- taro fried dumplings- har gow- pork buns - shu mai- oysters (these are cold)- shrimp steamed rice roll I will definitely come back!!

Delicious, classic dim sum in the heart of Chinatown in NYC.Arrived around 10:30AM on a Sunday morning with our group of four and had to maneuver our way through a throng of people to the gentleman giving out numbers before joining the crowd ourselves --- be prepared to wait shoulder to shoulder with the other patrons for your number to be called. The numbers are not necessarily called in precise numeric order due to the sizes of the various parties compared to the table availability, so be ready for your number at any time. All in all, we waited about 30-40 min before being seated. We were grateful to be directed to a table toward the back --- some of the tables toward the front are surrounded by the crowds waiting to be seated. The operation moves quickly, so we arrived at our table as it was still being cleaned and prepped for us... but before we could blink, we were seated with our fresh pot of tea and surrounded by our first half dozen plates. All three of my dining partners were new to the classic dim sum, so I really appreciated that there was a picture menu on each table to allow us all to better understand what we were selecting. The food was incredible, especially the classic har gow and salty egg custard buns. We also tried the red rice rolls for the first time and all agreed it was a highlight. There really wasn't anything we didn't like. When all was said and done, the four of us ate to our hearts' content for a grand total around $75 --- absolutely can't beat it for the quality and quantity of food.

Celebrated lunar new year here with about 20 people and it was incredible! We were seated downstairs in a closed room that had a karaoke set up which was so fun! The service was super quick and love that it's byob (minus beer). We ordered several items but the standouts were:Lobster fried rice - it has huge chunks of lobster and the rice was perfectly crispyPeking duck - they already set up the duck inside the buns which was really appreciated for a big group and set aside a plate of just duck that was incredible Fried squid - perfectly crispy Steamed pork bun - absolutely delicious Will definitely be back!

Was craving dim sum cart dining and this place was perfect. We put our name in for 3 people at 12:35 PM on a Monday, and were seated at 1:06 PM.Highlights:+ Steamed shrimp and pork siu mai - so good we ordered it again+ Sesame balls - I normally don't like these, but they were incredibly chewy and freaking delicious + Shrimp eggplant - just get itOther than the food, the vibes delivered: Communal round tables, midtier hotel ballroom decor, chaotic atmosphere - just the way it should be.

The service here is lighting quick. No matter how much you order they are bringing out dishes in no time. It's a fun experience to do a dim sum place like this as it feels like you are in a big hall or gathering place/community center and everyone is in big groups ordering a ton of food to share. That being said we found pretty much all the dishes just mediocre. While none of it was bad, none of it made us really excited. First time I was able to try chicken feet and honestly that was one of the better ones to be and a fun experience for a beginner into the chicken feet world. The black bean sauce on it was good.

If you love dim sum with carts, this place has them. The food is quite good too. All the classics are solid--siu mai, har gow, rice noodle rolls. The decor is great and the staff will get you whatever you need.

Wanted Chinese food on a late Saturday night, where else to go besides Chinatown in the city, we decided on House of Joy. Plenty of space with nice modern decor. Perhaps since we came a little after 8:30 evening that we didn't have any waits. Friendly service and with good sense of humor when we asked for some suggestions. We weren't that hungry but wanted some spicy broth on a very cold night. Opted in for vermicelli noodles with spicy beef and mushroom, which did not disappoint. Along with an order of pork bun, nothing special but fulfilled our hunger- and soup dumplings which were delicious! Would love to come here another time for dim sum brunch definitely!

Our go-to dim sum restaurant in Chinatown but the whole experience was so mediocre today. We were seated at a corner table in an area where the carts don't frequent so we had wait a while to get food. Luckily a very nice lady saw that we were hangry and growing impatient so offered to grab some dim sum from the carts for us. We ordered our usuals but I wasn't impressed by any of the dishes. I was especially disappointed in the beef tripe, which was cut in huge pieces and tough to chew on. Maybe I'm just spoiled from all the delicious and affordable dim sum that I had recently had in HK because this place is usually better. Regardless, we'll probably be back (in the distant future) since it's the best dim sum option in the area.

Such a fun ambiance, and so cheap!! It was super fun for lunar new year but also so packed and so the service wasn't the best. They weren't super attentive and took awhile to bring the things we kept asking for (cups, bowls, drinks, etc). We ordered a ton of food but my favorite is definitely the string beans, Peking duck bao, and honey walnut shrimp. The chow fun, crispy squid, crispy fish were okay but want to come back for dimsum!
